Step by step guide on How to make Homemade KFC style gravy
Ingredients:
Butter - 1/4 or 50g
Cold Water - 3 cups
Ground black pepper / Pamintang Durog - 1 tablespoon
Chicken cube - 1 pc
Salt - for adjusting saltiness ( optional ingredient only )
Cornstarch - 1 and 3/4 tablespoon
Procedure:
Dissolve Cornstarch on a cold water, this process is called making a Cornstarch slurry
After making Cornstarch slurry, set it aside first
Low heat setting:
Place butter before applying heat on the pan
Melt the butter
Once the butter is melted, add the Cornstarch slurry little by little while continuously whisking the mixture, the reason for this is to avoid lumps ( pamumuo )
Be very careful on the steam that will be produced because it is really hot
After you poured all of the Cornstarch slurry, add the Chicken cube
Dissolve the Chicken cube
Once chicken cube is dissolved, add ground black pepper
Continue whisking until the gravy thickens
Once the gravy thickened, taste it then adjust saltiness using salt
If the gravy is too salty for your taste, add a bit of water
If you added salt or water to adjust taste, whisk again so that it will be mixed on the gravy
After that, your KFC style gravy is ready!
