Yo, what's up, y'all? It's your boy KG, and today on KG & Pierce Honor MJ, the Universal Icon, we're taking y'all back to a time when the game of basketball hit a crossroad. My man Paul Pierce and I are about to dive deep into the shockwave that hit us all-MJ's retirement post-'98 finals. #MJ #KevinGarnett #PaulPierce
Just picture this: I'm about to fulfill my lifelong dream of ballin' against the legend himself, and boom, no more MJ in the league. We also talk about the legendary Forum, the impact of AI on the culture, and how Jordan elevated the game to a universal level. I mean, Mike made the league a trillion and Nike a trillion-talk about game-changer!
But wait, there's more. We also got into some real talk about when MJ made his epic comeback. Your boy Pierce had some inside scoop on that, and let's just say, we all felt the "mic effect."
Join me on this epic journey through the memories, the matchups, and the mayhem that only the GOAT could inspire. Witness for yourself the reverence and realness we bring to the table when talking about MJ.
Don't miss out on this insightful conversation-hit that play button and let's get into it! And while you're at it, follow the journey on all my socials, and hit me up for any collabs or sponsorships. Let's keep this legacy alive. #BasketballLegacy #TheGoat #IconicMoments

LeBron is a statpadder who picks and chooses the games he wants to play. You think MJ would have been so beat up if he chose to sit out dozens of games every season? He was an old school player with the mentality to play all 82 games no matter what to not disappoint the fans. LeBron doesn't give two shits about his fans or the integrity of the game.@@sportstalkonly1442

I live in Australia, have a 6 yr old nephew who knows nothing about b-ball, no one in the family has mentioned b-ball, then the other day I told him my middle name is Michael and he laughed and said "Michael Jordan". Ppl are constantly having this silly debate that Lebron is the goat, yet my 6 yr old nephew, in another country across the globe, has heard of player that hasn't played NBA b-ball in over 2 decades. That's MJ's impact. He is b-ball.

Let’s talk about the Wizard years… He was getting better and more efficient before his knee injury. Before his injury, he led the team in scoring, assists, and steals, averaging 25 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals per game. In his last 20 games up to the injury he averaged: 27.5 - 6.4 - 5.2 - 1.3 - 0.5 on 44% In his last 10 games up to the injury he averaged: 29.7 - 6.6 - 6.1 - 1.2 - 0.3 on 47% In Jordan’s 46 games before knee injury the Wiz had a 26-20 (0.565 win%) record.. (this is a team that only won 19 games the season before) In games without MJ and post-injury, the Wizards had a 11-25 (0.300 win%) record. This is also despite the absence of Rip Hamilton for about a month during Jordan’s 26-20 stretch. In the last 16 games that Rip and Jordan played together prior to Jordan’s knee collision, the Wizards went 15-1, and they won 13 straight games when both of them played together. People act like the Wizard years were so horrible, yet never actually look closer for context.

Exactly. Those numbers are good regardless of age but when you take into account he had been retired for 3 years and was 39-40 years old, they're even better with that context. I wish he didn't get hurt because I would've loved to see what he could do in the playoffs.
@jumpnam

Well said man. Jordan's Wizards years are career high numbers for a lot of stars. What's also not as well known is that he entered that season with a right knee that was riddled with tendinitis. He was getting stim treatment every game and was having it drained regularly. It was fucked up even from preseason, so even before he banged knees with Etan Thomas he was effectlvely playing on one good leg from the first game of the season. GOAT.

As an international fans. To put things into persperctive, MJ is to the NBA, what VR46 is to the MotoGP. I live in Indonesia, a southeast asian country. back then in the 80s, televised sports are football(soccer), boxing and badmintons. Unless, you’re in phillipines, there’s no way you knew that nba exist. However around 86-87, the tv station started televised NBA games, and other nba programs due to the rise of MJ. I was in elementary. Anyway, when you go outside US, in some remote area, ask any strangers about NBA or Basketball.. most likely you’ll get MJ name that comes out from them. Lebron is great, so does Kobe. But MJ took NBA to global market/audience stardom. Any stars that came after, reaps the benefits of that. Lbj vs MJ goat debates is kinda moot, play in different eras. I give the nods to MJ just because, w/o him. I’ll probably never thought of basketball. If you think MJ vs LBJ goat debates was toxic.. wait till you go to football/soccer goat debates. CR7 vs Messi goat debates, plays in the same eras, legendary achievements by both. The fans debates are epic both online and offlines, the level of toxicity rivals the chernobyl 😅😅😅

MJ is the most complete basketball player I've ever seen. Most guys who're that gifted never maximize their potential (see Vince Carter), but MJ was all attack on both ends AND loose ball hustle & defensive help. People say he didn't pass, but when forced to play pg, the man was dropping triple doubles like they were rocks at a crackhead rally.😂 It was crazy watching him from McDonald's and Team USA, thru UNC, and his first 3-4yrs in Chicago because he erased a weakness each off-season, then proceeded to completely dominated the game for a decade. It's like he worked om his game while waiting on Pippen to getstrong enough, then they went ham.

Mike made the league a trillion and Nike a trillion and that is exactly why Mike (MJ) will always be the GOAT. It doesn’t matter what kind of numbers Lebum or even Steph put up. Doesn’t matter how many times Durant doesn’t comb them peas on his head. Bill Russell, Robert Horry, Steve Kerr, Scottie Pippen they have more rings than Jordan except Pippen who has the same amount. The bottom line is the MONEYJordan generated for the league and future players after him. Lebum will NEVER generate that kind of money for the league. The fans can harp on Leflop being the GOAT all they want. The NBA is the one that has proclaimed Jordan the best of the best. Because of Jordan players could expand into other business ventures. The Lakers enabled Magic to become his own boss. Better retirements, healthcare plans for outgoing players and contracts for incoming players. Billion dollar deals with Nike, UA, Reebok. Playing every night is their jobs. Doing promos part of the job. Jordan put the league on the global map and the money generated from jerseys and video games alone. Lechoke need to take a couple seats and shut up.

The thing i like most about mj is the killer instincts, these player today too sweet. Sport is about competition these days they only play because they are getting paid to.

🐐MJ could of won four more titles and had 10 rings easily if he didn't retire in 98 from the bulls when he was at his Apex! I do believe after Kobe emergents he would of called it quits! Sickening the owners broke up that dynasty💯

I'll always wonder what Jordan would've played like with the Wizards had Artest not broken his ribs while defending Jordan in the post during one of those scrimmages in Chicago. Totally sabotaged his training

imagine if MJ didnt have those knee injury and not drain fluid from it
@timstark4731
@timstark4731 4 месяца назад
@@Mao-Digs-Escariote I think the 2 things are related: if I remember correctly, MJ broke his ribs, had to stop training, then rushed his training once he was cleared to try to make up for lost time, and the over-training is what started the knee issues and over time led to the knee injury.

@@timstark4731What also affected MJ was taking those 3 full years off and coming back closer to 40. We saw how his game changed after coming back from his 1st retirement and that was almost 2 years in his mid-30's. It took him some time to get into a rhythm with the Wizards and then once he did, he injured his knee. He was even a MVP candidate at the All Star break but that ended.

Michael Jordan was class. Iverson was the hood. Now, all we have …as a culture is predominantly hood. The way GROWN men dress…is like their kids. The way GROWN men comport themselves is like their kids. Go watch a Marvin Gaye interview…then go watch a Lil Baby interview. This is where we have fallen because we thought the hip-hop aesthetic was the way to go.

This is why I say the 2000s is the best era. We didnt have 1 face of the league so everyone got a turn to really shine in that decade. Shaq Duncan Iverson Kobe KG and then LeBron took the flag at the end of the decade and has held it since.
