Part 2 of our Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park 2021 trip to !Xaus Lodge and Nossob Rest Camp. The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park really is one of my favourite game reserves in South Africa. Although it's becoming ever more popular and has a somewhat limited number of rest camps, it's still so well worth the effort in reaching this remote spot.
In this episode we traveled overland across the Kalahari dunes to an upmarket lodge, !Xaus in the south west of the Kgalagadi National Park, close to the Namibian border, a real treat. We only stayed 1 night which isn't enough, I definitely recommend 2, or even 3 nights to get the best from it. Then it was across the park again to the Nossob River and a long trek northwards to Nossob Rest Camp, also only for 1 night unfortunately. We booked the trip at the very last minute, so had to take whatever accommodation was available, mostly cancellations, so choice was limited.
Clarity: when talking about Nossob Rest Camp, I mentioned that "it's better than Twee Rivieren", I was referring to the camp sites rather than the entire rest camp, and it's of course a purely personal point of view anyway. There is NOTHING at all wrong with Twee Rivieren, it's a great rest camp with excellent facilities and accommodation.
