She made Kenya proud since she was the first woman to become a runner up from the country and went on to inspire younger generations of African women alongside black models like Naomi & Iman to pursue modeling careers that many felt were far removed from them because of they didn’t share the idealized features.
Where in the world have I been that I've never heard of her? She is stunning. 😍 Karine out here doing the dang thing with these uploads. thank you girl 💐💐💐💐💐
@@KarineAlourde I want to thank you so much for giving the gorgeous black popular top models from the 70s and 80s their flowers because they do deserve them. I grew up during the 80s and 90s seeing pictures of those models walking down the catwalk and in print ads in magazines etc My favorite though is my girl Mounia Orosemane one of YSL muses and thank you so much for doing a video about her By the way did you get to watch the documentary movie that came out this year that’s about Donyale Luna?
Khadijah was born to a Kenyan mother, and Somali father. She was born in Nyeri, Kenya. She spent a lot of time in Thika town kenya, before becoming miss kenya and finally miss Africa. She was once the face of Flori Roberts cosmetics, and muse for Yves st laurent. I think she left modelling after being sued for breach of contract by a modelling agency.
Flawlessly Beautiful and Intelligent Woman,.Elegance Personified...Was mesmerized by Khadija then and now.. Would love to see her.The models trotting around can't touch..the Power and Artistry of She..Iman and others of the 80s and 90s...What happened!!!??
🌸 👑 Yes, she is a timeless beauty. To have garnered so much success around her beauty and turn around to do mining and business makes her quite the extraordinaire.
I feel like those celebrities whom we know least about are the happiest. They came, the conquered and they saw the 'dark side' and decided to fly below the radars. I do not think such privacy is available these days anymore.
I studied fashion design at F.I.T. and I can tell you she was on every fashion student's radar. I distinctly remember the YSL cosmetics ads in Vogue magazine with her face as they were so stunning. There was an ad for a lipstick that was epic. Khadijah oozed glamour and sophistication. I loved her on the runway At Christian LaCroix . She deserves all of the accolades.
So fabulous, you caught me just in time before I went to sleep 😴😂. Obviously, models of the 80s and 90s will always reign Supreme ❤❤. I need a whole break down book of these models from you.
@@KarineAlourde mine too! as a small eastern-european girl growing up just as communism fell, i loved watching the first available runway shows. so many models i am just discovering, thanks to you!
Whoa she's gorgeous! 💗 So glamorous and elegant 😍😍 I'm looking for that perfume now by the way 😅😁 thank you for the video Karine and uploading the other video in your other channel love. Hope you're doing well ❤❤
*_Please more videos on Cushitic (Ethiopian/Somalian, Eritrean, Djiboutian) women. I think you covered Iman & Halima, but there's also Yasmin Warsame, Waris Dirie, Liya Kebede, Yordanos Teshager Bitew, Mearg "Magi" Tareke etc etc_* Thank you !!
There's no such thing as cushitic people. cushitic is a word invented by a white man to describe east-african languages. It has nothing to do with race.
@@XxMimiYasxX We don't use the term "tribe" to refer to these distinct & unique separate national and ethnic identities. Within each of these different ethno-national identities are tribes and clans and subclans etc. The term "tribe" is not used in Europe or Asia to refer to separate ethno-national identities. We don't use the term "tribe" because the various ethnicities in the Horn of Africa do NOT share the same language, culture, and history. Some of the ethnic groups are not Cushitic speakers. For example "Habesha peoples" (this term is contested within the Horn of Africa but frequently used abroad) are Semitic language-speaking and that also includes Ethiopian Jews. However although they speak a Semitic language, they are referred to as Semitic speaking Cushites (this is contested and is popular abroad). Amongst ourselves we frequently refer to our identity as Cush but the more popular term we use is "people from the Horn of Africa".
I definitely remember Khadijah Adam's. In the 80s, rarely did the magazines give the names to a lot of models in the credits, so it took a lot just to get the names of so many of these black models, I was a fashion student, and it was nearly impossible to get the models names because they would be here one season and gone the next. It was brutal because you like that models vibe, and bam! Gone.I do remember reading about how her grandmother wanted to know why those people are paying you all this money? To wear a dress?"Why did they give your name to perfume?" Her grandmother, to say the least, didn't trust the business her granddaughter was in. I always loved seeing her in Christian Lacroix's haute couture, and of course, Yves Saint Laurent. 🎉
Thank you so much for this video. Growing up in the 80s and 90's, I would often see this beautiful woman in fashion magazines but I had no idea who she was. Now I know!!
there are even full blooded kikuyu who look like somali kikuyu are mixed with cushitic people oromo and maybe somali kenyan are diverse when it comes to appearance many kenyan women are very beautiful wether they look horner or bantu i have heard that from somalis who lived in Nairobi
Khadija Adams was very private because she refused to let go of her traditional and faith based values which is why she insisted on conservative clothing. Swahili language is just that...there is no Swahili background..just the language. 😊 It is the official language of both Kenya and Tanzania (where I am from). Khadija was always compared to Iman because of their shared Somali roots.
Can't get over that contrast between her stunning and perfect dark skin and the big golden earings. She's perfection, infatuating, elegant, timeless beauty. 👑🌸
Greetings❤...I don't not comment much at all but trust me I am always in the sidelines watching and listening to your awesome information...you are spectacular and your voice really does totally relax you if you are wired...lol this by far is 1 of my fav bios. Khadijah is beautiful and rhe fact that she doesn't have much info. Makes her even more special. Thank you for all you do you should be praised for your commentary sis❤❤❤❤
🌹👑 Yes, I look at Khadisha and think "cement." 😅 And can we give some love to those clothes. So elegant and beautifully crafted and not a vulgar "brand logo" on them.
Yes Please..a clip of Wanakee would be great. Showing your viewers how Beautiful and Super ..Models were.. They outpaced many Movie Stars who glammed down their status in the public eye!!✊🙏👊🔥🔥🔥
