Considering Khaine himself is a god of murder, it's not that strange that the avatars of him are so good at getting murdered.

Truly, there is no more certified "Khaine the bloody handed god moment" than that one time "Supreme femboy" Fulgrim choked out one of his avatars. One of his fiery, magma skinned, iron avatars.

Im both shocked and not shocked pancreas hasn't heard of this, but there's an old 40k novel called shadowpoint(I think) that involves an Avatar. It's a battle fleet gothic novel which involves the imperium teaming up with craftworlders against chaos and the drukhari they hired to help them. The Avatar wakes up, on his own, and then jumps around planets and stuff using the webway, and on the way gets this awesome bit about how he lands on a speed freaks planet and just leaves a trail of slag metal and ork corpses behind him. There's lots of bits about him traveling to the planet where the climax of the story takes place, wiping everything in his path out before hand, during which the craftworld he's from is FREAKING THEIR SHIT. eventually, he ends up on the Climax Planet™ at the end of book, and when the Druhkari Archon is about to finish off the Eldar farseer that allied with the imperium, the Avatar shows up, grabs the Deldar by the neck, lifts him up, and reduces him to ash, before staring the farseer down and vanishing, essentially cucking Abaddon and the Deldar at the same time by fucking their plans over. Very cool story. He's not really a warrior in this, more treated like a force of nature that one one really fully understands or can stand against. But there's also no loyalist Marines or Tyranids in this story so that's probably why.

As an Imperium of Man fanboy even I can say the Bloody Handed God of War got done straight up dirty in 40k. Pretty much exists to show how strong someone else is…..

As a Necron player, this is the way that I see it: When the Nightbringer was shattered into a thousand pieces, it put the fear of death into every mortal creature. When Khaine was shattered into a thousand piece, he became a joke.

Khaine is basically just Ares in greek mythology but in 40k; he's a god war, blood and murder, he's a patron of soilders and he gets clownd on by everyone

The reason why the avatar of Khain was able to win in Ciaphus Cain's book is that the gods of 12th dimensional bull shiterty mixed up Khain and Cain so the avatar got the auto win.

Reminder that Ciaphas Cain is such an impactful commissar that his mere presence alone inspired an Avatar of Khaine to successfully pulverize and eradicate a greater demon of Slaanesh.

Fauna as Isha will never cease to amuse me, also poor Khaine, i guess he is yet to die to guardsmen, i think

There is two more stories about Khaine's Wins and Losses: Tigurius is another Ultramarine who defeated the Avatar by zapping him in Melee with his Psy-Staff. In the Valedor Campaign though he had an epic Win for once. Well kinda, after the Iyanden Warhost left a planet full with Tyranids, they had to leave their Avatar shamefully back and later on in the storyline, when they came back to the Planet they found a HUGE crater consisting of Tyranid Corpses and the Avatar of Khaine was still raging and killing Tyranids in the center of that crater. Well at least one badass story and win for Mr. Angryhotpants

Just wanted to say that the ritual of awakening the Avatar - the sacrifice of the Young King - basically involves an Exarch dressing up like Eldanesh, going into the throne room of the Avatar, and recreating the moment when Eldanesh turns down Khaine's offer of great power in exchange for singular worship of him. The Exarch recites aloud the part where Eldanesh basically tells Khaine to go fuck himself, and the memory of that event stings Khaine's ego enough that his spirit reanimates the iron body of the Avatar and he murders the Exarch, reliving the moment when he murdered Eldanesh for disrespecting him. With the ritual over with, the Avatar storms out of the chamber, and the Eldar follow him. One assumes the Avatar just knows who the enemy of the day is (maybe he absorbed that knowledge by absorbing the Young King's soul?), and - being the god of war - he just gets down to business. He knows the drill by now; wake up, kill stuff, go back to sleep. Because the Exarch is theatrically playing the part of Eldanesh (a dude), the title given to the one portraying him is always "The Young King", irrespective of sex of the Exarch.

Can't wait for khaine's next model overhaul where he has 2 arm casts, 2 leg casts and a wheelchair

I love Avatar of Khaine on the tabletop not only because of how powerful he is, but because people not in the know are in for a shock when facing him. Assuming he ain't shit because he jobs for random Space Marines in the fluff quickly becomes "Why did that orange thing solo half my army?" when one makes the fatal mistake of underestimating a shard of a war god.

Interesting fact about Khaine. In Warhammer Fantasy 4th through 6th edition he was very obviously just Khorne with an elf hat on down to witch elves having Khorne marked models and banner poles.

Avatar of Khaine: able to destroy multiple enermies and is the greatest weapon the Eldar can deploys. Also Avatar of Khaine upon seeing a Space Marine without helmet: Guess I will die.

Khaine wouldn’t be shit on nearly as much if there were more Eldar gods around, then GW would have ALL of the Xeno gods get beat by Space Marine favoritism. (I hate GW favoritism)

I came to realise that The Avatar is basically the reverse custodes. He’s insane on the tabletop while getting crushed in the lore, vs the custodes being amazing in the lore while being… ok… on the tabletop.

Lovely compilation of all the fluff i personally have inhaled over the last 20 years. One detail with Khaine being smart: He didnt actually realize that one sword was fake, but he actually gave all 100 swords to 100 Eldar Heroes and fought with them against the Necrons. Unfortunately when they formed a defensive circle the poor Hero with the fake sword was the weak link and when his sword shattered, the same happened to their formation and most of the Heroes were slaughtered. Khaine was able to barely survive with a couple of Heroes and when he came back he was so pissed that he cripled Vaul then and forced him to make weapons for eternity as punishment.

As an eldar player, let Khaine be the embodiment of a distraction carnifex. My warp spiders already stole all your gene-seed.

When I was first introduced to 40K and saw Khaine I thought he was so cool so I asked one my friends about the guy and well….my opinion changed really fast…poor guy

You know it’s pathetically embarrassing (for GW, and Khaine) when the board version of Khaine and him being used for Elf Goddess Fuel does more justice to the man than the 40K current version.

Considering that you used Fauna for Isha, perhaps you should have used Pippa for Khaine. I mean, Khaine's rampage against the Eldar is pretty much the 40K equivalent of the Pink Yabbit shooting up a Walmart.

Fun tidbit: the dinosaur extinction (or Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction event) took place approximately 66 million years ago. Earth was in Paleogene period meaning mammals were just starting their way to dominance. Also I am convinced that Eldanesh was emperor tier, with literal gods being dime of dozen at the time, no way that level of warriors weren’t relatively common. Plus with guys like that around, it is no wonder Eldar didn’t feel threatened by anyone including the chaos gods.

I would like to give thanks to Khaine, on behalf of the Necrons, for making their job a little bit easier in regards to the C'tan.

I have never understood the Eldar hate. Khaine is terrifying, and his avatar has destroyed many of my rubrics and banished Daemon Prince Jeff at least once.

Khaine is awesome in the book Shadowpoint, the sequel to Execution Hour. Really captures his devastating godly power. Spoilers: He doesn't come close to being threatened, but also doesn't come up against any other high level players - so not the best example of him not being bodied. Great book series though

I would like if Khaine, Isha, Clown God and Ynead all became apart of the 40k setting in serious ways. It would make the Aelderi much better but also a big threat in another Edition I could fix this with time and a book series but knowing GW they like to stroke of Space Marines a lot.

Personally I always thought the Eldar Gods were Wraithbone constructs of godlike power, animated to fight the C'Tan, and who assumed the role of gods following the War in Heaven The reason I thought that is just because Khaine broke apart into shards of Wraithbone during his fight with Slaanesh

There is one other instance of a 1/2 victory for the Avatar of Khaine. In the book Valedor, where Iyanden and Biel-tan (back when they were still buddies) have to defend themselves from Hive Fleet Kraken. Prince Yriel was also there. Anyways, in the story, one of the Biel-Tan armies being accompanied by an avatar of khaine gets attacked by Kraken. They fight valiantly, with the avatar fighting and killing numerous tyranids. But eventually they get overrun and forced to retreat from the planet. The autarch is forced to abandon the Avatar, who when they last see it gets overwhelmed by the tyranid horde. Later, the Autarch returns to the planet with massive reinforcements to take it back. When he arrives he finds a LITERAL MOUNTAIN of dead tyranids, and something fiery flickering in between. Soon after, the mountain explodes, and a damaged but still definitely very alive Avatar of Khaine steps out of it, impaling a tyranid with his spear on the way before going ham on the horde once more. Not only had the madlad survived, but he had been fighting tyranids the entire time. I will post the whole excerpt here later when I find it again, but its really fucking cool with the Avatar slaying dozens of tyranids with each attack and straight up one shotting carnifexes with a single punch. Anyways, I agree, we need a few more god avatars for khaine. As GW has decided the avatars should be the primarch equivalent for the eldar on the tabletop, they may as well give us an avatar of isha and cegorach. Hell, avatars of the dead gods are also possible, as it is said in lore that though they got consumed, their shards do float around the galaxy. Eldrad has a shard of the morai-heg within him. Give us an avatar of vaul, that super buffs the army, or an avatar of asuryan with psychic powers that would make magnus blush, or an avatar of kurnous that makes eldar units even faster. But it was of no matter to him, when some small part of his honour might be restored. ‘Aid the Avatar! For the glory of Khaine!’ The tanks set up a complex fire pattern of interlocked laser blasts, felling voidspawn monstrosities by the score. ‘Create a cordon! Set us down, set us down here! Hethaeliar, send immediate reinforcement!’ Sunspear’s Falcon was first down, others following, swiftly deploying their cargoes of Aspect Warriors before zooming off to take up firing circuits in the air. The Aspect Warriors set about destroying the aliens near the mound, allowing the tanks to range further out.

Khaine getting caught between Khorne and Slaanesh is basically the boyfriend from the gym and the psychotic harpy playing tug of war. Also that tangent on the Horus Heresy feels like a prelude to video about it.

Khaine? Khorne? Khârn? GW really needs to learn how to give creative names to their warlike characters

As an AdMech player i sympathize with your plight. Our faction seam to only exist in the lore currently to make xenos look good.

Even if it's retconned, I like Khaine being the Elf version of Khorne. The earliest images of Witch elves showed them with the symbol of Khorne, so at one time, they did worship Khorne. The Eldar or Old Ones taking fragments of the greater Chaos Gods and making them into their own gods works for me. Khaine was a piece of Khorne, Cegorach a piece of Tzeentch, and Isha a piece of Nurgle. So when a new Chaos God forms, and tries to consume these lesser aspects/fragments, Khorne battles her for Khaine, Nurgle reclaims his aspect, and Tzeentch giggles as his aspect escapes.

Always looking forward to the new drop from Pancreas, forgot what else I was gonna say Khaine showing up just to randomly butcher Aeldari cause someone told him they'd "kill" him first is just hilarious 20:14 :)

As a Necron Fan we didn't win the War in Heaven, but I wouldn't say the Necrons lost either. I feel like fighting kinda puttered out after the Old Ones were killed and the C'tan were shattered, and neither the Eldar/Kork or the Necrons were in a state to definitively wipe each other out. If the Eldar were in a state to wipe out the Necrons at the End of the War after they went into the Great Sleep they would've taken the opportunity at the time, I imagine either the Eldar had an agree with the Silent King towards the End of the War to call a truce so they could work together to overthrow the C'tan, or the Eldar were licking their wounds and weren't in a state to oppose the Necrons going into stasis at the end of the war. The Eldar did destroy some tomb worlds during the Great Sleep, most notably the Mephrit Dynasty Crownworld, but the fact that there are still so many major Tomb Worlds in the galaxy despite the Eldar having a 60 million year window to wipe out the entire race makes me think that either A) This destruction of the Mephrit Crownworld was an act taken millions of years after the War when any agreements were forgotten along with an accurate tally of major Tomb Worlds.

Nice try there with the nightbringer elf-thing! But allow me to ask, if the Eldar are oh-so-great, why are they a dying race while the Necron are on their reawakining?

I remember my Avatar of Khaine almost punched the Avatar of Yneed to death, she teleported away and attempted to smite my Guardians squad. Double ones, the enemy player did a CP roll and rolled snake eyes. The best moment in my entire 40K legacy

I was listening to 'Saving Aeldari Lore!' just this morning. I'm still going to paint some Aeldari, because I'm tired of Space Marines and Chaos Trim Marines.

Marneus vs Khaine way back when 40K power levels were written around Chapter Masters instead of Primarchs, so I kinda accept that fight as it's basically just a knight beating a mighty dragon.

Isha being substituted by Fauna from Hololive wasn’t what I was expecting, but I sure am glad it's here.

He's a god of war, the job description didn't say anything about winning them. So long as wars keep warring he's doing his job.

Necrons we're still totally the winners of the war in heaven because immortal space zombie robots are cooler in my opinion. And my opinion matters more because my pancreas still works.

Necrons lost due to the infinite repeating enslaver plague that wiped out nearly everyone. Even your beloved knife ears fled into the web ways to escape that. For the rest of the war, the Necrons were fighting a civil war to try and regain their own souls from the C'tun who shafted them, and the C'tun turning on each other to eat each other. I am sure Khaine, battered and near death, found a freshly ate out Nightbringer shard and landed a lucky blow via using his last fate point, to cause the shard to shatter across the universe. In other words, he achieved what the average Ultra Smurf does before breakfast.

Common necron W No reason required

I actually don't mind the "space marines blew up the ship he was in killing him" result because its a good sort of brains beats brawn situation. I like to look at it like this, the space marines knew that taking him on in direct combat was suicide, so they had to improvise.

I remember watching a 5th edition game of 40k when that was fresh, where a space wolf lonewolf solo'd an avatar in melee. Think this was about the time they transitioned into the Marie sue marines, which is strange because I don't think matt ward wrote their codex.

Depending on the lore interpretation, Khaine could very easily be Isha and Vaul's father, what with Lileath being Morai-Heg's granddaughter.

Having representatives of the other Eldar gods running around _would_ be nice. Maybe if the Exodites become a faction, or at least a couple units that can be fit into other Eldar armies, "Isha Daemons" would be a flavorful addition. And the Harlequins just generally need a range update, so having an "Avatar of Cegorach" running around - even if he's a sort of "physical" illusion, as befits these tricky MFers - would work well.

In fantasy, the excuse is that Khaine wasn't really created by the elves like most Gods in the setting. The Elves were stuck with him because the Elven pantheon were survivor from a previous universe, and Khaine was their version of the devil. As much as the elves don't want him around, they're sort of stuck with. Contrast Sigmar or Ulrich, who themselves are also war deities but are generally cool dudes.

Khaine doesnt Just walked up To the nightbringer, he only killed him because of the help of Kekorach, otherwise the nightbringer wouldve 1v1 him. And the point of the war in Heaven is that the necrons gave it up after they overcommited to genociding the supertoads. And they just waited since they could do that, not like the eldar who are stupid and get themselfs killed by an enemy they themselves created

Once again using Fauna to depict Isha is making me very very happy But then I realize that also means Fauna ends up getting locked up with Nurgle forever, and suddenly I’m not so happy

For the theory on the Aeldari Gods being made from weapons, it kind off makes sense. The Necrons are banging on the Old Ones' door, ya cant have species development long enough to naturally make those Gods.

The only Avatar kill I have read that gave them some respect was in Fulgrim. Fulgrim and the Avatar actually traded a number of blows and iirc the Avatar threw Fulgrim like a sack of potatoes. The most laughable one was in Forges of Mars. A single Black Templar Terminator Chaplain solo’d one and they both died. Oh and there was other Eldar that were attacking the Chaplain as well. I read Forges of Mars before Fulgrim. Imagine my surprise when Fulgrim didn’t just obliterate the Avatar by sneezing on him.

There was that shadow point book where an avatar went on a rampage and super murdered a bunch of orks and dark Eldar and then left without anyone doing much to stop it.

The domain of war on Warhammer is really interesting because it is broken up among so many gods, many of which are explicitly opposed to each other. Khorne is the most well known, but like you said in this video Khaine, especially in Fantasy is just as prevalent if not more prevalent in certain eras than Khorne. There is also Gork and Mork/ Gorkamorka that are absolutely war gods as well in all 3 Warhammer settings. If we go to Fantasy and AoS we have Sigmar himself as another war god, and arguably Big E, if he is truly has ascended to divinity, presides partially over the domain of war. Sure there is some overlap between the big 4 Chaos Gods, but war fuels a lot of very different entities in a lot of very different ways
