The Soap: The Club: Khalifa in Kaizen 2e base (with Emu oil). The scent is an 8/10 strength take on Black Afgano by niche fragrance house Nassomato. The scent is a bold and wild, dark, dank, green, resinous, borderline raunchy scent, with prominent skunky cannabis and animalic oud with hints of coffee, vanilla and smokey incense among other notes. Not for the faint of heart. The soap base is the latest kaizen 2, a tallow based, goat milk and lanolin soap with Manteca (pig fat), yogurt and beer to name a few ingredients, which has been updated with the use of emu oil, an occlusive that serves to trap moisture on the skin and leave a slick layer. The post shave on this soap is second to none on this premium top tier soap base.
The Razor: Tanifuji Spalding 6/8 full hollow spike point 1950’s Japanese made razor.
The Brush: Paladin Samurai 28mm 2 band badger bulb. Unique pour and shape. Flawless finish. Pillowy soft big bulb. Beautiful brush. (Unfortunately not found at WCS- only through Paladin)
The Bowl: Hand Thrown Shaving Scuttle, Two Toned in blue. A scuttle is a bowl within a bowl. Fill the inner chamber with hot water, and it keeps your lather nice and warm throughout the shave. This hand thrown scuttle is heavy piece of pottery with a nice glossy glaze. They are hand made, so they will all be slightly different. I find the scuttle really elevates my shave and makes it a truly luxurious and relaxing experience, in addition to being an handsome piece for display.
The Aftershave: Lucky Tiger Face Tonic. Lucky Tiger is an American barber supply/ men’s grooming brand from Milwaukee, Wisconsin dates back to the 1920’s. The splash is very lightly 2/10 strength and fleeting with a pleasant orange and orange blossom scent which can work with and accompany any soap scent or fragrance/cologne without clashing. The splash is witch hazel and aloe based with calming chamomile. Compared to other witch hazel splashes, it is less tacky and has none of the astringent witch hazel scent. It leaves the face feeling smooth and refreshed.
