While the artiste is absorbed in exploring khamas, why is the thavil vidwan interfering with his unnecessary beats? This is a clear lack of kacheri etiquette
May be you are not aware. During nagaswaram concerts, it is quite common for the thavil artiste to indulge in a few beats - usually to give a breathing time to the nagaswaram player, also to allow him to change the mouthpiece (seevali). Sri Vasudevan tried it here, apparently with Abhishek's approval. May be it didn't click with everyone, so what? We need not pass denigrating comments about the Thailand artiste who is competent in his own right and has been offered a seat on the dais based on his ability. PS: personally I feel thavil goes well with instruments such as violin, mandolin and guitar, but not so well with vocal, flute or veena.
