Khichri (sometimes pronounced as "Kichri", "Kitchari", "Khichdi" or "Kichari") is a dish that Ayurveda calls perfect food.
The key feature of kitchen is that all the ingredients of the recipe are in balance with each other, which enhances their beneficial nutritional properties for the body. If you include khichdi in your diet, then all the systems of the body will gradually work smoothly and efficiently. In Ayurveda, kichari is the basis for many detox programs, which makes this dish universal both from a nutritional point of view and from a cleansing point of view.
We tried khichri for the first time in India, when we were at a yoga seminar conducted by guru Pilot Babaji. In his book "The Himalayas Speak", he says that khichri porridge is especially popular with those who practice the highest forms of yoga and meditation. After the seminar, we ate almost only kichdi for more than two months, which gave an amazing effect: the body was very well cleaned during this time, the intestine began to work like clockwork, the overall well-being and energy of the body significantly improved. All this has had a very positive impact on our meditation practice. Khichri is included in several nutrition and body cleansing programs that we recommend to all participants of our meditation school «Istok».
