The parallel parking only realy works accuratley if you park between 2 cars, it uses the car behind you as a reference to decide how far to park you from the kerb. It won't work if there are no cars. If there is only one car it won't be accurate, as it will park behind that car but have no reference to how far to park you from the kerb as nothing is behind it.

We just got our KIA EV6 GT Line AWD a week ago. I know this feature will be used maybe twice in the life of the car. We had a Skoda Superb which had self parking (quite good). I had the dealer demo it for us and it was very impressive. 18 months later and the wife still hadn't used it (she is the main driver of the car), so with her in the car I thought I try it.....did a great job in parallel parking. That were the only two times we ever used it LOL.

In the future, you should be able to just press the self park button, get out of your car and walk into a restaurant or house. The car should then self park and send you pictures of if when it's parked.

@@urslt8967 Lol! Agree 100% with you . I am also old school and this type of parking would take me 10 seconds . Unfortunately it will only get worst with the advent of ultimate laziness that is taking hold of in the world today.

My wife's car has that option. She can also tell it to bring the groceries inside.

@claudiocorleone7856 okay buddy but where I'm from, it takes several minutes to find an open parking space. Then walking to the front of a store or restaurant. It's called efficiency as I don't want to hunt around for parking. I guessed you don't like self driving cars either

Nice review. We have a kia ev6 gt line package 1 in red. Amazing car. With we had a smarter dealer at the dealer ship though. He made an order for the wrong gt line package. We only noticed that we got package one after the delivery and there was nothing they did about it. But that's a whole other story.

for a 1st gen self park assist, im sure 2-3 years time, this will improve dramatically if they implement better cameras/sensors around the car.

I love my ev6. The 360 view camera makes manual parking really easy. Remote parking is this car is way too slow. I never use it.

It's early days, there is a long development process still required, so pretty good given that. One thing that concerns me is a computer usually gets hacked and with that comes the scenario of someone (possibly half way around the globe) taking control of your car...scary.

Yes, you push the park button and drive by a parking spot, then it asks if you want to parallel park in the spot.

Obviously it's meant for tight spots, and not wide open areas with lots of space. I mean, how lazy would you have to be, to engange park assist in an ampty lot? :-D Yeah, it's not the fastest, but really for really tight spots, are you? This car isn't a small one by any means....roughly 4,6 x 1,9 meters. Other tests I've seen, it has done quite well for tight spots......which is exactly what you would use it for.

To be honest. If u need to remote park a space. The space is too tight. You might get what you ask for in the form of a dent.

Seems more like a party trick/gimmick to me than anything useful - a decently skilled driver can put the car in a spot in around 1/2 the time.

My Prius Gen 3. from 2012 does that in just one single move, so what happened ? Has technology evolved backwards ? A Tesla also does a terrible job at perpendicular parking and it supposedly wants to drive itself one of theses days... I just can't figure out why technology from 2012 could calculate the proper starting position and turn angle of the steering wheel to just move in the spot as a human would with one single move, but technology from 2022 can't ? Beats me !
