In this video, we are fixing the actuator problem that causes the vent to close on one side for cold air.
In this case, the passenger side has cold air but that doesn't work for the driver side. In order to fix this issue, we need to remove the actuator but it takes longer than usual because of the glove box removal (For easy access).
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding Heating or Cooling on Kia Sorento or a similar Kia car.

At the 4 min point it is not correct where he says that lower (blend door) actuator splits the air between passenger and driver. There are two of those actuators, one on each side of the console. Each one independently controls the mix of cool/warm air to it's passenger or driver side. Rotated to the front of the car is fully cold, other way is fully hot. Note, unlike the passenger side actuator seen here (Australian RHD model), the driver side one is easy to access and remove directly.

Hi Mate, I have tried removing both. The one on the driver side was working flawlessly. The one on the passenger side wasn't. I am sure they both mix but in my case the driver side was working fine. I'll take a look again :)

Are you saying you fixed/replaced the one on the passenger side but that fixed the problem on the driver side? I have warm air on driver side with cold on passenger side and checked my driver side blend door but it seems to work perfectly. Seems odd to me but perhaps I need to check/replace the passenger side blend door?

@@MarkBlakeney Mine is a lot better now. I had only Warm on the driver side. Now it's not extremely cold as on the passenger side but satisfactory. I still suspect these both aren't working 100%, Most likely they are not stopping at the right location

I am confident they are independent. I took my driver side one off and then found that moving the arm manually made my driver vent change from hot to cold (no effect on passenger side). I then tied the arm in the fully cold position and went for a drive. The driver temp started cold (as it always does) but then the temp went up hotter than the passenger side. There is something else kicking in that changes the driver side temp, i.e. not the blend door. Also, I put the blend actuator back on and watched it travel fully when I turn the temperature dial so I think it is working correctly.

@@MarkBlakeney I am sure they are independent i.e if you select one side to be colder than the other. But the problem occurs if you have both sides set at Sync. The output isn't the same and I seriously think its the blenders are not syncing correctly.

I have a question. Will a faulty actuator affect a/c manifold gauge readings?
