Mode door actuator/blend door kia optima 

I replaced this myself took me a good 3 hours. The bracket on the bcm you can use a short screwdriver or a 8mm socket which I did it's easier (right side bracket). On the left side bracket you have bolt I used a 8mm open end wrench then took it off with my fingers. Have wire cutters to cut the zip tie off the wire harness on both sides of the brackets that way it can have more room to hang then you can move it out of your way. I give this guy props for filming it was hard just to crawl in the tiny spot but patience is everything.

Thanks for the video. This is the same problem I had, except my was the blend door actuator for the dual-zone climate control. I had the heater on and it was blowing ice-cold from the driver-side vents. Once I replaced the actuator, it now blows heat again. Very helpful.

This video is helpful, but is misleading. I see in many comments that they replace this part, and the mode still doesn't change, or work. (It will continue to "click") The part "actuator" in this video is the heat/cold blend actuator. If you replace it with a mode actuator, you're going to get the results that many people have commented about. What will happen is the passenger side will be cold, and the drivers side will be hot. The "actual" mode actuator is just above this heat/cold actuator, and has a green, what I call a "cam" that is turned or moved by the actuator. That is the mode actuator location. It is the one that changes the direction of the air from vent to defrost, floor, etc. You get the idea... Again, the one is this video is the actuator for the heat/cold blend. Good luck to all. Many of these comments are 2-3 years old, so I'm a little late to this party. ;^)

Wait do I do this if my car is making a ticking noise when I turn my ax on and it doesn’t blow air out the 2 front middle vent it only blows air out the 2 front sides ones next to the door ? Cold air and hot air works I replaced my ax condenser and a new fan and wasn’t the problem needed to be changed so I changed them anyway anyone help ?

I have a 2014 Sonata and I guess this is a common problem on these cars. The top part of my HVAC system is “stuck” in a on position in the summer it sucks and winter too.

So is this the side that switches from ac to heat?

Are there two blend actuator doors? One for diverting direction of air and one for switching from a/a to heat?

I replaced the part but the damn thing still won’t blow air through the face vents. Defrost and the feet work fine. Anything else I can check. Or did I not put it properly? It’s frustrating
