Thanks!!! I have a loose usb connection because it only works when I hit a bump on the road and my phone suddenly works with CarPlay. So I will definitely try this. Thanks.

does replacing the radio disable anything important like A/C climate control?

It's shouldn't usually you have different controls for your ac, and all that. If your radio has the AC controls then see a professional

If you do it with a basic new head unit like a single din you’ll probably lose your steering wheel controls that go thru it like phone and volume and such. If you go with a double din with the right adapters for steering wheel control then nothing should change
