August 2019 I won the Kickass 75L Dual zone fridge/freezer, One year on,,, Am I happy with it? In this review I explain my findings after one year of owning the KickAss Fridge/Freezer. Watch to see what I think.........
Thanks mate, watched it through to the end. appreciate the time taken, this fridge is a front runner for my van build. Nice to hear you are still happy after 12m!
Thanks for the review Phil. I have subscribed 👍 I am considering purchasing this fridge & your review has sealed the deal. Keep up the good work with the reviews and vids they are great to watch. Thanks again.
G'day Phil, i watched this video right to the end, as I always do with your videos. One thing I always like about your videos is that they are honest. Good work mate, thank you.
All the way through Phil great job appreciate your time and your reviews 👍🏻 just purchased the 75ltr KA fridge freezer so looking forward to stocking it with frosties n tasties 🍺🍖 keep up the videos champ Cheers 🍻
Thanks Phil - very informative and helpful review (certainly didn't know about the KickAss until I saw your video but its now gone to the top of my list - me thinks Clayton needs to get you on the payroll!). You had me from go to whoa.
Mate you're doing an excellent job on you're reviews watched a few of you're videos now and each one I've watched have covered everything I was interested in keep it going mate PS watched the whole vid
First time watcher. Enjoyed the video Phillip. I watched to the end. I have ordered the same fridge and looking forward to getting it. I'll be watching more of your videos. Cheers Bruce
Enjoyed your video and I selected both like and subscribed. I watched video all the way through and found this informative and interesting, I have only just ordered the 75L Dual Zone Fridge Freezer and look forward to receiving it, we have previously had an Engel and I am really pleased to hear you say Phil that the Kickass is even more economical to run. Thank you and I look forward to more of your videos. Also very happy KickAss supplies a cover which Engel do not. Kind Regards Anne
Thank you for the review. I have subscribed mate as you talk my language. I other words you talk so I can actually understand how things work as it’s not to technical. Thank you. I have watched until the end.
A good, honest review Phil. I've been considering one of these fridge/freezers for a while and had a look around at others. But i think your review has convinced me this is the one to go for. I am yet to hear a bad thing about them.
Well done watched to the end and covered lots of info about the fridge. Have the same fridge and very happy with it and had it since Dec 2019 and it hasn't been off. Beats my Engel (40Lt grey) hands down. Hope it lasts as long as it 30+ years.
Phillip Damiano it’s a ripper. Not many trips thanks to lockdown here in Vic. But with testing on a 140ah AGM battery it drew just under 10amps in 24hrs in ECO mode
Very informative video I have been looking for a good fridge freezer for a while so I can get rid of my kings 45ltr which works when it wants.after watching the video to the end.i hadn’t heard of kickass before. It looks a good unit.I sent an order in and bought one hope fully get it in a week or 2.cheers
@@PhilsCampingReviews I went through your channel Phil, I couldn't find your 2 year review. Have I missed it or has it not come out yet? You seem like a top bloke and I'm only half way through this video. I'm considering buying one so I'm just seeing if they are worth it. Do you have any experience with the bigger one, you know the 95L dual zone that ilook the same as the evakooltm dztm 95 travelmate dual zone? Thanks for your content! just going by the thumbnail and title it looks like you do some killer work 👌 looks like its going to be a late night with Phil 👍
Congratulations. I also won this fridge. I still use mine. As a spare fridge at home. It's never been switched off longer than a few hours since I got mine. They are a great fridge.
Thanks lad for the review on the fridge they are a awesome fridge I have a Family member that has one too and it ran heaps better then my 40lt Engel fridge i couldn’t believe it I thought my engel fridge was deadly lol
You should watch an interesting video on Lock your hubs 4WDing channel, about fridge covers. Even though I am happy with the performance of my Engel, I ditched my cover and it works even better. You need to insure good ventilation around the compressor end of your fridge and keep it out of direct sunlight. Liked your review, kickass make some great stuff.
Don’t think I seen that video yet. I’ve tried without the fridge on my Engel during summer and I had to put it back on. Freezer struggled and compressor running non stop. I now use the Engel at home to store fruit and veges. Even though it’s plugged into mains power now, I still have the fridge bag installed
Thanks Phillip for the review. I am sold. This is my next camping purchase. Selling my engle and evakool, already convinced my wife. :-) . If it has been running non-stop for 12mths do yo even need to recharge your AGM battery at home and around town? Also I never knew you could turn one side off. I love your videos. Subscribed and watched to the end, @ 2x speed. it is 12.43am though. Cheers, Ray
Hi Phil, Love the video mate. Can i have an update on how the fridge is going now? I am considering a kickass fridge and curious to see 2 years after your video how it is going
It’s going great. 4 weeks ago I removed it from my 4WD and currently using as a spare fridge freezer at home, as I have updated to a upright fridge in my 4wd. 2 and a half years I’ve owned the kickass fridge so far, hardly ever gets switched off. I leave it on 24 hours a day 365 days per year and it still preforms like the day I purchased it.
Well done Phil great review we also have the same fridge and love it too, we’ve also just subscribed as we do enjoy your videos especially as we are also owners of Pajero. Keep up the great work👍🏻
I got it from Australian Direct (kickass) on the Sunshine Coast. Same place as the fridge. Although, they don’t stock or sell the fridge cage anymore. Check out Dunn and Watson in Brisbane. I think they are selling the same one now.
Hey Phil, Ive just rec'd my KA 75L and want to place it on the same side as you have so I can easily access the control panel. Can you tell me how you have setup the cable so it doesnt get caught in the fridge slide?
@@leighroy8981 As long your vehicle not using a smart alternator you should be fine with the VSR. I'm not 100% certain on this, My believe is a smart alternator will not put out enough volts to charge your AGM.
@@PhilsCampingReviews im pretty sure its the other way around and pumps in to many volts amd doesnt build up voltagae slowly but its been fine for years in my brothers gu
Hi Phil, I purchased this fridge around 12 months ago and I am very happy with it, until the app for the fridge was updated and stuffed up. Can't do Jack sh** now with it. 😡
@@PhilsCampingReviews they are very similar in many respects .... same compressors and similar design - Im guessing Dometic are the maker , which is not a bad thing
To be honest, I’ve not had the best experience with warranty claims the couple times I’ve used it. It was a nightmare, disappointed to hear there call centre has moved to the Philippines.
@@PhilsCampingReviews well as of at least a year. I bought their fridge a single zone 65lt.. it’s swelled up at the bottom. It Still works. No spills or leaks. Looks brand new but the base has deformed. Been trying to contact them. They get you to download a video and photos. Can’t even talk to a real human. No direct number. So pissed off. Why call yourself Australian direct ? Maybe Philippines direct. Don’t get me wrong the call centre people are polite and I’m sure they’re great people. But I bought an Australian fridge with a so called Australian warranty ? How is this fair ?
The Engel runs more efficiently without the bag according to one test I saw - the bag traps the heat in and the compressor had to work harder interestingly
My tests found the opposite. This maybe so in cooler climates, but up here in QLD the bag is required. My 40L Engel is the duo. Has a freezer compartment. During our warmer months the Engel fails to keep food frozen without the bag. Without the bag my 120 amp agm will not last a day, as it has to constantly run . I been told Engels not designed for our climate. As they are made for overseas market. The problem is the insulation is not thick enough for our climate.
I ran tests with and without the bag on my engel. The bag is required if you don’t want to damage your agm battery. I think the guy your referring to that reckons you don’t need the bag lives in Melbourne. I different climate to where I live.
I’m running similar tests with the kickass fridge, I’m almost completed my tests. Will be filming an updated video soon. I’ve found the bag on the kickass fridge is not required up here in qld during our summer because of the thick insulation and the fridge style door seals. That’s another thing, compare the seals between the Engel and kickass. The kickass has fridge seals like you see on your fridge at home, Engel has a thin strip rubber.
@@PhilsCampingReviews the problem is the bag doesnt let the compressor vent and heat builds up . Climate is not relevent . Engel has been on the Australian Market for decades . Had mine for 17 years . Keeping it cold is not a problem ,if anything the damn thing is too cold - Ronny Dahls review of the 40 litre dual zone also had nil issues . The energy efficiency of the Engel is second to none also .... I doubt the Chinese built fridges will be as durable
The big Question? is it any better than any other fridge out of China at half the cost with the same spec's apart from the fact you got yours for free..interested too know?
Good question. I don’t know the answer to that. You would think if the specs are the same, same components, they would be just as good. Many items from China are made in same factory and there rebranded out for the different importers.
Brought 75L Kickass fridge/freezer Used trice, not holding temp Contacted (customer support/fridge warranty) Australian Direct Had to cut trip short by 4 days, due to issue with fridge/freezer Spoke to person dealing with warranty after 4 days of attempted contact, 5 calls and 4 emails later Customer service, disgraceful, far from professional after sale service, shouldn't need to contact as many times to get a response. Have previously purchased many Kickass products, would not purchase another fridge from this company, due to lack of customer service.
Must admit, I've experienced the same customer service from them. Thought that was sorted out. Trouble is the owner can't always be there, Best to try to contact him direct when this happens, He prides on customer service. I'm sure he would want to know about this.
