@@swishvashI never had before, until Coffeezilla just made a video about how they’re a scammer on his second channel, he just uploaded it. Weird coincidence
I really appriceated the talk about Zyn, im trying to quit and hearing you talk about the negative sides of it really gave me some motivation :) Thanks cody
Yo dude, its cool to hear you talk about quitting zyn/nicotine. It takes a lot of effort but stay strong. "The pollutants that kill the body breed apathy within the mind; the substances that once brought release, in the end will always confine"
These past couple weeks I've been thinking alot about how vaping is affecting my running, going through reddit, mens health articles, etc. I've been running consistently for about a year now and I'm training for my first marathon, moving towards more mileage and speedwork very soon. I'm 23 and have been smoking since I was 17, cody talking about his struggles with it really just reaffirmed my thoughts and doubts about my nicotine usage. I also listen to the huberman podcast and reassured myself that I can vape while doing desk work to help me focus more. But cody talking about it came at the perfect time, I'm taking it as a sign and gonna take the steps towards quitting. Big Ups Insanely Chill.
Same boat, I had been vaping since 15. I’m 23 now and almost 2 years clean and feel SO MUCH BETTER!! the biggest difference I’ve noticed is increased lung capacity, I don’t get sick nearly as often, and I don’t randomly hack up phlegm throughout the day anymore. I can’t recommend getting off it enough 🙏🏼
Zyn being popular is crazy cause up in Scandinavia nicotine pouches (with tobacco, "snus") has been a huge thing since like the 1700s, and now what I guess we call "white snus" has been taking over with teens and people in their 20s-30s in the last 20 years!
I stopped vaping for 20 days and my anxiety was almost completely gone. I’m an idiot/addict so I picked it back up and my anxiety came right back. Nic spikes adrenaline and increases your heart rate and so it definitely messes with your anxiety levels
The only reason people “feel good” from vaping is bc when you use it you are getting rid of the withdrawal, which you wouldn’t have if you didn’t vape at all.
you got this!! im on day 12, and its an ongoing process. you're not an idiot, you just had a relapse! which is sometimes to be expected because nicotine is addictive. ive found that community/knowing you're not alone is super helpful. we're in this together!
For the record, you’re doing amazing. No need to be so hard on yourself about your content, training, productivity during this time. You could post anything and your fans would consume it bc we know you and love you!! You always stay humble and in touch and that’s really admirable. You and Kelsey are doing great and raising an absolute kick ass kid 🎉
i quit nicotine last month and i feel so good lately. my workouts have felt so much better. and overall my mental health has been super strong. im never going back
I know you probably won't see this but thank you for talking about nicotine and how difficult it is to quit--I've been in a similar on-and-off relationship with it and hearing you talk about your own experience was so helpful. also, I love not going home, it's one of my fav songs by you!! I love the music vid :)
I had the same issue with weed. I reached a point where every time I hit the pen I was like "what am I doing anymore" and it started to ruin relationships I had with others so I appreciate the honestly and vulnerability
This is the realest ep I’ve ever seen. The nicotine topic is SO important, especially for young kids. I am 2 years fully off nicotine (vaping mainly, but also a few cigs and Zynns) and nicotine made me feel sick to my stomach but I NEEDED it.
i’m so glad you left the event with kelsey just listening to you describe walking into a crowded ass rooftop bar knowing you have a baby at home was giving me so much second hand anxiety
So I have been on a high dose of prednisone steroids for my autoimmune disease for awhile now and they have put me in a state of psychosis, mania, depression and many more side effects and physical ones as well, and being able to watch you outside in your beautiful sunny backyard and listen to you talk about your life is probably one of the only things that has brought me some peace and has been able to distract me, I also have been addicted to vaping for four years and I quite because I got really sick and was imitated into the hospital on Valentine’s days and was in there for 10 days, so thank you for opening up and sharing about your experience! Love you so much!!
Any reason? Any argument? I use nicotine frequently, vaping and zyn. Nicotine improves my cognitive ability and enhances my concentration. Does not affect my training at all.
@@icecoldassasin7892The drawbacks of nicotine itself are mainly that it slows down wound healing due to vasoconstriction, and that it can harden arterial walls over time which puts you at risk of cardiovascular diseases. It’s a common misconception that nicotine itself is harmless
I quit nicotine. And realized how I wasn’t enjoying life as much. I felt like I was having such a dopamine hit throughout the day, that everything else didn’t give me as much enjoyment. Plus once I quit it made me desire working for dopamine, not just taking the easy way.
CODY!!! 1. I subconsciously followed your guided meditation and I felt wonderful too. 2. Everything you said about nicotine verbatim has been my experience as well! Been off nicotine/vape and cigs for 2 months now and have no plans to go back although cigs are tempting smh. Anyway never heard of zin (sp?) but the nicotine anxieties etc you nailed my experience with it too
One of my friends in PA school told me there’s some studies that show Zyns affect your lungs. Take that with a grain of salt cause I never got to read them. But I have felt better since quitting anecdotally.
Fun fact, or not so fun ig lol, nicotine actually is shown to be detrimental to exercise performance due to its effect on blood vessels! There are many different studies out there that that support this, too. Basically, when you use nicotine, it causes your blood vessels to constrict which decreases blood flow to your muscles. This means that your muscles aren’t getting as much oxygen or nutrients that they need to function optimally, which impairs both performance and overall muscle growth.
As chill as that’d be, It’d also be prohibitively difficult getting guests up to the middle of nowhere. Iirc The producer said it takes him like 2 hours to get there.
@@thehousecat93 yeah that’s why I said something similar. Because yeah guests coming to his house would be weird. Could at least dress the set in more of a nature vibe. I think it fits insanely pretty well
I agree with what Cody said about “watching your kids first moments…”. When my son talked or if I said “hey go grab mommy that” and they go and grab it. You’re like wow! As a parent watching the first time things happen in real life is such a fun and exciting thing to witness 🤩
I would genuinly like a " meditate / breath " with cody episode 😅 Because I can relate with his energy, where most yogi like influencers are already way to relax , I feel like i'm too stressed. Cody seems just a lil anxious but trying his best, and it helps !
super grateful that Cody talked about nicotine addiction and trying to knock it multiple times. that was super real and the fact that it seemingly impacts training as well is interesting and informative. i want to give myself grace and have fun as a young person but i also want to set myself up for the future properly. so i hope to replace nic with a better and more positive habit. and i hope Cody continues to just be real about his experiences in life because it's a great reminder that you aren't alone in whatever you're dealing with, even if it isnt addiction specifically, and that everyone is just as human as you are.
i'm taking this pharmacology class and we just had a lecture on nicotine! nicotine (even just the chemical) IS harmful. nicotine replaces acetylcholine - it acts on acetylcholine receptors on neurons but it isn't properly degraded by the body like acetylcholine is (for example it stays around in the synapse and desensitizes the acetylcholine receptors) which makes it harmful to the body.. and nicotine acts most readily on the acetylcholine system in our brain ! which may explain nicotine causing anxiety idk.... but i feel you i am also prone to addiction
You've perfectly described my ZYN experience. I've been off for almost a year. But I used nicotine for 5 years before. I had all the same symptoms. And my buddies didn't. Thought I was fucked. Glad you are in on it with me
I feel the same way about Kratom. All I ever heard from people is how great and safe it is, and it absolutely can be. But there wasn’t much info on how addictive it can also be and now quitting is nearly impossible. But I have found good support/resources on Reddit as well! Good luck ✌️
I know some people have been complaining about the lighting, I really enjoy these outside episodes, maybe you should grab one of those outdoor sun shades and often do an outside episode. The lighting is beautiful the only issue is it’s hitting your face so much
honestly cody, thank you for being honest about zyn. I just quit nicotine. thank you for talking about it. I felt that exact same. SUPER MEGA ANXIETY, you never understand how bad you feel until you quit. proud of ya
I’m so excited for the return of Cody Trains. It’s pretty much the only thing in my life that shares my interest in running and I love how much you love it!! Also I think it’s so good you listened to your body (cheesey but true) about nicotine as opposed to the “science” which may be true for many but not necessarily all
Zyn - yes, Cody. I'm currently using Zyn after vaping and smoking cigs for over 5 years. my stomach usually hurts after using a Zyn, I felt everything you said. congratulations for getting off of nic, very proud of you. hopefully to follow soon 🎉❤
Cody thank you for this video. Ive been vaping for 4 YEARS. and recently quit, but this video is a pick-me-up for sure. I agree with what you said! Nicotine makes me feel like shit and I always felt so anxious for no reason.
getting off Nicotine, specifically Zyn, has been super super hard (im about 10 days in). Like you mentioned, I finally realized how sh*t I felt - less energy, brain fog upon waking up, and the craziest one being I didnt dream anymore while using Zyn. My first day quitting i had a dream THAT night and was like wow, I haven't dreamt in months. Never faced real addiction in my life, but can say nicotine has definitely been that for me.
43:11 I used to smoke/vape and I completely know what you mean about the anxiety and energy symptoms but yet you keep doing it. I think that’s just the nature of addiction… and also (for me at least) it’s not until you stop that you actually realise how shitty it was making you feel so I guess there’s a big element of denial in people who use nicotine regularly
I relate about the nicotine, I was never unti cigarettes or anything but I smoke a lot of weed and it started with my friends rolling blunts with fronto which has nicotine and tobacco and it feels amazing for a few minutes and then drains the fuck out if my energy.
Bro I felt that same way. Would look forward to it. Wake up, coffee, zyn, edit. After a meal, zyn. It does make you feel like shit and actually fucks up your blood ox. You're right in saying had you been off Zyn your running would have been better. Zyn was a tough one to kick
men watching this now makes me wonder if this is sign on the road... I was also starting and quitting nicotine intake trough tobacco, vape and IQOS, but always, in the nutshell, I felt like sh*t after using each of these products. You're not crazy man it really is bad, but it is addiction, and really does gives anxiety and it makes you fell like sh*t as you nicely put it. It is 4 days since I left nicotine and I feel much better, and hopefully, I'll never go back.
Nicotine is just like some kinds of things that are an addiction which aren't inherently "bad", food addiction, shopping addiction, coffee addiction, etc. It's about moderation, and realizing when it's really affecting your life. I think a lot of ppl have the misguided thought that bc you are taking the tobacco out of the equation that has tar and carcinogens that it's "better" health wise which is really only if you have used tobacco. And even then you should eventually try to quit all together as it's still a dependency that will have some albeit smaller effects on your health
You just talking about being human is so beautiful, especially with the open green background and sun :) thank you for helping me feel a lil more human today
The nicotine part hit me. Never realized until now how long its been a part of my life, but its been about 10 years now. Cigarettes and then vaping. I quit vaping about 8 months ago because I was going to have my wisdom teeth removed and knew if i didnt i was going to be suffering through nicotine withdrawal on top of recoveirng from surgery(youre not supposed to "suck" after wisdom tooth removal because you can get dry socket). I realized after getting over the awful withdrawal symptoms that nicotine was actually causing all the symptoms I thought it was helping with; body aches, anxiety, insomnia. All of that went away when I quit. The worst part? I started vaping again 2 weeks ago because my vape shops didn't have any nic free vapes and even after months, I was still addicted to the oral fixation of vaping/smoking. Nicotine is no joke and I wish it was talked about more.
Totally felt the oral fixation part. I rarely crave nic or weed or anything like that, it’s just the feeling of smoking that I love. I have a nic free vape now and I love it
Cody and Kelsey having social anxiety helps me feel better about myself for some reason. if these two successful and cool people have social anxiety then that means that me having it is also okay
Honestly this is so appreciated. Quit smoking four years ago (never thought I could) and just quit vaping three months ago. (Didn’t think I could) but now these zyn pouches have a stranglehold on me. so thanks for the inspiration. Through Cody Ko all things are possible…
I actually have the exact same experience happening with nicotine right now. I keep using nicotine pouches and vaping even though they make me feel like shit and super anxious. I don’t know why I keep going back either, they make me super anxious but I keep craving them anyways 😖
I have always thought vaping was stupid, but I went to a festival last year and got given loads of free packets of Nordic Spirits (UK Zyns) and over the span of 6 months I developed a full blown nicotine addiction. I've quit on and off for a few weeks due to not being able to afford 3/4 tubs a week, but I really think the side effects of them are not talked about enough!! Luckily I've never tried the 50mg tobacco ones, just 17mg nicotine, so I've only seen very minor signs of gum disease that prompted me to take breaks - but the craving never goes away! I'm glad Cody talked about this in his video as I thought it was some niche weird addiction I had developed, but I'm glad reading these comments that other people have experienced it too,
I started vaping in my last year of highschool, and I have been on and off of it for like 4 years. My anxiety got worse and worse, and the only thing that stopped me from using it was not being able to afford it.
I recently moved on from vaping. I’m 26 and I’ve been smoking or vaping everyday for like 7+ years but now I’m more than a month removed from vaping and smoking. Zyns have been a helpful tool for me quitting because it definitely does make me feel shitty and it’s not something I envision doing for more than a couple months to kick the bigger habit of nicotine!
Interesting that this popped up for me on my 2 week marker of quitting nicotine. I was at a party a few weeks ago, an amazingg party surrounded by good vibes and good friends, but I did a little Special K... lmao and i had a moment where i was freaking out and couldnt find my vape. When i came down, it was in the place where i always put it...its like i didn't want to find it, and like you wanting to focus on the birth of your baby, i want to focus on my life and not my vape...i quit the next day. I also feel like longterm nicotine usage cannot be good and i also just formed the habit at like 25 for no reason.
i get extremely fatigued after popping a bunch of nicotine pods i just lay down and wait it out, that's why i stopped too especially cause i can't do just 1 or 2, i run thru like half a tin in a day, but i asked a bunch of my friends who do nicotine and zyns aswell and they don't get the same tiredness and nausea that i get so nice to hear cody talk about it
my partner has a nicotine addiction and he uses zyn. he goes through multiple packs a day and ALWAYS has one in his mouth. he goes to the gas station at least 2-3 times a day to get more, once in the morning before work, once on his lunch break, and usually one more time on his way home from work (he gets other stuff too like snacks and drinks so that's not the only reason why he goes, but he also always gets more zyn packs every time). the only time he doesn't have one in his mouth is when he's eating. he literally sleeps with one in! it definitely worries me. he's been addicted to nicotine for sooo long though and doesn't think he could ever actually break the habit because he feels like shit if he goes even a few hours without any. i really wish he would try to push through and quit. 😕 i just can't honestly believe that there isn't anything wrong/potentially dangerous about consuming nicotine, especially for such a long period of time. obviously, i can't force him to quit, that definitely has to be something he wants and is willing to put the work into or else it won't stick, but i do really hope he decides one day to call it quits for real. good on you, cody, for being two months nicotine free!
As far as the zyn experience goes, I had a similar experience. I’ve used every type of nicotine as well, and zyns stuck for a good bit. One day, I noticed they made me feel like shit. Every single time I’d put one in I’d just feel awful. So I quit. My health definitely improved when stopping them. I believe nicotine does have adverse effects in terms of athletic ability as it restricts blood flow. For awhile there after I’d only do them when I drank, but I’ve fortunately quit completely.
I actually did The deep breaths bc I’m a nervous wreck today and I needed some Cody wholesomeness to take my mind off of it😭😭😭 and they actually helped
