@@alucard4490 Except his mom ain't around, and Adrian kinda starting hating his dad after his mom died. It's one of those weird things, like how Galamoth eventually tries again to become the Dark Lord 10,000 years after Dracula is gone, and is allegedly opposed by Kid Dracula, or so I try to make sense of it...
Funny story, Kid Dracula for Game Boy was the first Castlevania game I ever played. Imagine my surprise to learn that the cutesy, skull-faced fellow helping me on my adventures was none other than Death himself.
Played this game on Castlevania Anniversary Collection. It's a surprisingly awesome spin-off, with fun levels, gameplay and great music. And thankfully the game isn't too frustrating, nor too easy. There's some rough spots, but a little skill (and some save states) helps.
Gosh I been looking for this game for so long.... I didn't remember the name, thought it was just a Castlevenia meme or side-game. I think I was only grade 5. There was a part where you need to understand Japanese in order to progress... I had to ask my house-mate nanny because she can speak Japanese lol. Good childhood memory!
Este juego es muy divertido, lo juegue primero en gameboy y me la pase muy bien tal vez tuvo más encanto en una pequeña pantalla pero verlo así se me hace muy interesante
Why does everyone keep saying this is Alucard? As far as we know this is Dracula as a kid, not his kid right? Genuinely interested if there is more to this backstory since everyone keeps saying that we're playing as baby Alucard.
I confess I only played this to hear the upbeat renditions of classic Castlevania tunes, but I probably would've liked it had it released when I was a kid (I never played the GB version we got). I think the most valuable thing about this game, though, is how it exposes internet comedians who never tire of repeating the same joke over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again despite how many times they've seen so many others who are just as eager to exhibit how unoriginal they are because isn't it funny that a kids game might have a KKK guy in it despite the intellectual dishonesty it takes to interpret it that way?
My story about this game is that when i played this about 20 years ako as a kid i got the japanese version of it, there is a stage where you have to go to an exam and i cant read japanese...my sister and i manage to take notes of the japanese characters so that we could answer corretly even if we dont understand the question 😂. Our greatest achievement as kids when we finished the game....great memories. The sound and gameplay even today amazes me...considering this is 8bit
A weird but very fun parody take on the Castlevania series. It is full of gags and personality. Im glad we are getting this game in the Castlevania Anniversary Collection, and fully translated as well. Also, that cute Statue of Liberty boss.
With the announcement of its inclusion in the upcoming release of the Castlevania Anniversary Collection, I thought it about time to pull out my playthrough of this fantastic Famicom-exclusive Castlevania parody/spin-off. Don't be put off by the hyper-cute visuals - it's a very good game.
@@krystalfan Here you go: www.polygon.com/2019/4/18/18484715/castlevania-anniversary-collection-release-date-games That article specifically mentions that it's the FC version of the game.
@@NintendoComplete This game was an unexpected thrill ride for me! I didn't mind the adorable visuals in this one, but the music is nice, but nothing amazing, though some of the sound effects are a bit annoying, and the gameplay was a neat change of pace from the gameplay from Castlevania 1, 2, & 3. Of course it's not as good as Castlevania 1-3, but If you are looking for a solid spinoff from the Castlevania games, then this might be the game for you. If you don't care for the cutesy graphics, than I suggest that you play something else. This is an overall solid parody!
You mortals have embarrassing baby photos *sigh* I have this....(Don't tell anyone, but it was fun!!!) To rephrase my Father: "What is a childhood? A embarrassing bunch of secrets!"
The last time I played and finished this was back in 1998 during my late teens in college. Since i played the Japanese version, I had no idea how the in-between bonus games' mechanics, I just pressed the buttons randomly, luckily i had bonus lives. Well seeing this again now in my mid 40's, it's very nostalgic. How i wish I could go back during those times, young, worry free, playing Family Com whole day. So memorable game for me. ❤
As much as I usually resist the urge to go “Squee!” at cute things, this is seriously testing me. Also, do you think older Alucard would smile or sweat-drop at the sight of this? I’m pretty sure Lord of Shadows dad and son would both be like, “😓 Are you f-ing kidding me?” Also also, if Kid Drac here is anything like Xellos, does him opening his eyes mean sh-‘s about to get real?
I remember having this game on my old famiclone back in the 90s... Bloody good game - this one. There are plenty of nice things to say about it as well - most enemies are unique to each stage. Each stage also has ton of unique assets. Huge sprites, solid gameplay, well balanced difficulty for the most part. The art direction is absolutely stellar as well.
I can just imagine Dracula rifing through old photo albums and then there's a picture of Alucard, spiky young boy hair and all, looking dapper in a fitted tux.
You gotta wonder what the Japanese are smoking, putting a literal Nazi/Klansman in a kid's game about Dracula, especially considering their side in the war and how you'd want to distance yourself from that. At least you defeat it.
30:00 well that was a lucky jump :D I just finished this game on the original FC cartridge and boy did I had a rough time for the last 2,5 levels... So I klnow how it is when you DON'T make that jump ;D
Even the game is trolling you for performing the Konami Code. You could say that the code has its funny side as well. And I agree. Kid Dracula is an awesome game!
I am pretty happy with the decision of port this game to new consoles and traslated to english!!! Funny enough the japanese public is getting the american version of Castlevania 2 instead of the original one. Cutesy, Creative and great, Konami was the best third party developer for the NES/Famicom, change my mind. I will proudly buy this in the Castlevania Collection and then I will create fake accounts for buy it again.
Too bad we're not getting the Famicom version of Castlevania III. I remember the 3DS getting the Famicom version of Kid Icarus via it's 3D Classics port.
I always felt bad for the Baby Ghost when I defeat it. Poor little tyke tried so hard... XD I guess Grandpa Ghost was exclusive to the Game Boy version. EDIT: OMG, the quiz show "fight"...love it! :D XD
I like how this game is all about cutesy monsters, and then you fight straight up Nazis in the first boss battle! And yeah, I know the symbol is a manji, but it's funny to think that way.
The final stage is so cheap in my opinion. I found the game to be quite fun until that point. Especially since dying resets you to the beginning of the stage
This game needs a remake set in the main timeline. The plot would be about young Alucard being the lord of his father's castle while Vlad and Lisa traveling around Europe, and stopping Galamoth from taking over the world. At one point, he would be attacked by Sonia Belmont who mistakes him as Dracula, and the two have a battle. Alucard would win and let her go alive, as he had promised to his mother not to harm humans. At the end, Galamoth is defeated, but letting Sonia go breaks the gaps between Alucard and Death who works as his bodyguard. Vlad dislikes this, but Lisa says he had done right.
I thought it was only my Family Computer or cartridge that crashed on reaching 6:22 Seeing that this an emulated ROM and can't handle 8-bit shows how freaked out the Konami programmers were when they made this game when I was a kid.
Plot twist - it is Soma's son in future who took the mantle of Dark Lord, subsequently twisting this role in something FAR LESS SINISTER. Poor Galamoth could not bear with it and even tried to send his Time Reaper in the past just to prevent Kid Dracula's conception in most radical way possible - erasing Dracula before he reincarnated as Soma
I enjoyed the game overall until the final stage but I don't know what the hell is wrong with the pre final boss, I just have no idea how it's pattern works and even doing the same thing as in the longplay I just fail and lose hearts in succesion, and if you lose all your lives the stage has no extra hearts or checkpoints I dropped the game for that which is a shame
