Kid Icarus is one of the few games that's harder at the beginning than the end. Why? Because you're trying to crawl your way out of hell in order to get up to heaven.
I can't believe I never realised that, although it's probably because I never even knew there were stages past the climbing section at the start as I never got through it as a kid
@@AboveEmAllProduction that's your opinion, and I think yours are stupid. Mine is Mega Man 2. See, we all have differences and you don't want to hear that your favorites are called stupid, so don't do it to others. Respect what they enjoy and we'll respect what you enjoy.
I’ve only watched a few of these videos. But each each time, I think I’m probably older than this guy but his badass hat and mustache make me question that. And the badass gameplay. Too cool.
Such calming music. It seems easy now, but in 1987 those first few levels were quite difficult. I bet I played 1-1 two hundred times. 3-3 maybe 5 at most.
KI was my 2nd NES game, picked it out myself from KMart. Called it "Kid I-Care-Us" like all the other kids. Never could get past 1-4 until a teenager down the street borrowed it from me and showed me how to use the mallets and go through the maze. Once I got to 2-1 it was smooth sailing. I still have my cart. Fav NES game.
Nice one Arcus, I like your channel because I can watch with my daughter, You are the only one not going AVGN style. Thank You. Zelda 2 was awesome too.
The thing that always irked me about this game Was that while you're given a character with wings, and a staging format built for having wings, you can't fly until very late in the game.
After Checking Summoning Salt's Vid On His Accomplishment, My Respect For Arcus Has Gone Beyond The Peak. I Want To Hug And Thank Arcus For Being Ever So Wholesome And Calm, And Well-composed For The Speedruns He Does. I May NEVER Be Able To Do The Speedruns (Given The Fact That I Am Not Allowed To Speedrun On Emulators, Nor I Have Enough To Afford For An Actual Hardware), But He'll Always Be An Inspiration To Me, For Explaining Why Speedruns Are Important.
Dear Arcus: i hate speed running i feel it ruins games. However between your nonchalant attitude with something very stressful, your hat, your mustache and your calm cool mentality, is what is making me watch YOUR SPEED RUNS. Thank you. Im so bad at NES games. I was never a good platform gamer unless it was kid chameleon. Oo yeah and the "CLUNK" word you say when you start your run. AWSOME
I’ve beaten the game a couple times, this year. That’s kind of a big deal for me since I love it so much but sucked so hard at it after 30 years. However...I cannot seem to consistently do that 1-4 wall-warp/slide thing to save my life. I knocked it out after about 20 tries, a couple of weeks, ago. Now, I’m replaying with all my goodies from before and I couldn’t do it after like 40-50 attempts. I eventually f’ed off to get to the boss the hard way. Tips are welcome.
Dude, once you learn SMB2 USA you will be HOOKED. Once you get good and can competetively understand/perform the mechanics, you wont want to stop playing it.
When you died at the level two boss that sucked I was thinking you could’ve grabbed one heart from the eggplant guy and go backwards and grab a chalice .Then in three Dash one I would just duck through the floor and take an Insta death instead of going and refilling at the spring that would’ve saved you like a minute
Damn this game was brutally hard. Even as an adult. I played this as a child. The stuff of nightmares 😂 To top it off the game designers put in the guys who stuck a goddamn egg plant on your head, pain in the ass bullshit and the little thief's who steal shit from you. Really made my innocent childhood life a living hell. Never did get past the 2nd dungeon as a child. But I stubbled upon the password to get to the final level, I beat it effortlessly. Never experienced any of the level 3 levels first-hand. Metroids making an appearance at 3-3!
Does anyone else find Kid Icarus a fairly boring game. I’ve never played it, but watching it, I have to give props to Arcus as this would never have held my attention long enough to get through the whole game.
