My niece was so terrified of her ex that she moved to Africa. And even then, she moved around! She recently took a transfer to Venezuela! It breaks my heart that she's been terrified all these years. The dude she's terrified of is her ex-husband, a cop.

@@stacyjaye6350cops are some of the worst abusers. I feel for your niece. Sadly she is far from alone. So many women share her fear and pain. Over 80% of DV victims are female, and over 98% of their abusive counterparts are male. This number only reflects those who report their abuse, many women don't. The number would be, and is, MUCH higher. In America alone, an average of between 3-5 women die EVERYDAY from DV. Imagine what the growing death toll is worldwide. That doesn't include women who are preyed upon everyday and die everyday just for being vulnerable females.

Some ppl don't understand forgiveness. It's not exactly for the criminals.... it's more to give yourself peace!
@katharina...
@katharina... 6 месяцев назад
Most people don't understand it. And even those of us who do understand it get confused by it sometimes. It's a very, very difficult concept. When I forgive, I open my heart right back, which opens me to being taken advantage of again and again. It's not easy to stay openhearted and distant or unavailable at the same time. It takes many years of practice for most of us. Lack of forgiveness has a protective, sometimes life saving aspect to it.
@liliannjq7006
@liliannjq7006 6 месяцев назад
@@katharina... There is a difference between forgiveness and trust. You forgive them and you forgive yourself, for yourself, through showing empathy and an understanding of where they were coming from and why you fell for it. People hurt others from a place of hurt. That doesn't mean you give them your trust again nor that you don't take the lessons to heart and recognize the red flags the next time they show up. You can show empathy while reserving trust. Forgiveness is not for them, it's to ensure you get rid of the darkness inside you they caused that may fester if left as is.
@katharina...
@katharina... 6 месяцев назад
@@liliannjq7006You can't take the person you are forgiving out of the equation. If you only consider yourself in this act, it's not forgiveness you are giving. You are simply letting go. Forgiveness is much more powerful and much more complex than that.

I agree with you, but some kidnapping the sentence is 25 to life. There is a possibility of leaving. He got the maximum allowed by law. Since he said he is mentally ill, he will not get out before 30 years. Also, many people won't last this long in prison, ex addicted? I doubt.

It's good to know I'm not crazy, not the only one. My husband wasn't this bad, but he was horribly abusive, and no one believed me, some accused me of being the problem. Because he was a public figure with a reputation, I was labeled the trouble maker.

Michael 😂 I'm sorry. That dude... he is PSYCHO. The manipulations he attempted. I do NOT think he has ANY empathy or remorse. It was NOT a game, not a prank. And he put his family thru heck. He should NEVER get out. And His own words on video is what really condemns him. Video everywhere. You get to see all sides of him. 🤢🤮

Unbelievable there are people like this in the world. Similar to the ocean, predators, snakes, parasites, then there are angle fish too. When you meet someone make sure you know who you are dealing with and never forget family members can be snakes too.

A few words from Jodi's son, who is the lady in the documentary that kept going to the parole hearings and sadly died in 2021: " Her kidnappers being paroled affected her deeply, she couldn't get out of bed no more, she was drinking and wouldn't eat because she was so depressed she just couldn't process life the way she was supposed to, my mom did the best for us as long as she could" Matthew Rest easy now Jodi you absolute warrior 💖

I can say from my own personal experience of such a Traumatic situation it destroys EVERYTHING! It destroys the family, it destroys you not only as a child but as an adult and a parent! I was sexualy abused repeatedly by at least 7 grown men. I acted out sexualy at a very young age. I got involved with drugs and alcohol. I became a mother at just 13 years old. I had 3 girls and a boy. They saved my life in so many ways. I was a hypervigalant parent. Raised my kids all by myself. I was alcohol and drug free raising my kids. I thought my stopping drinking and drugs was doing the right thing for my kid's. I didn't realize not letting them alone with friends, or not letting them spend nights out with their friends, or walk to the store by themselves at 14 or 15. These things are a normal part of growing up. But in my mind I had to protect them at all cost. This didn't help my kids it hurt them. It took me a long time to see that my protecting them was hurting them. In my late 30s early 40s I sought out one of the men who violated me. He was old and small and hideous to look at. He had a scar from his mouth all the way down his body below his belt line. He suffered too. His poison effected his life horribly. I asked him if he knew why I sought him out? He said no. I said really? And he responded well that stuff you lied about? I told him I was the one person he couldn't do that to. I was there and I remember everything! What he did poisoned me it poisoned my life! But I wasn't going to let it go on anymore! I forgave him and walked away. The freedom I gained words can't describe! My life has gotten better. My relationship with my kids have gotten better. Sometimes you truly have to just let go of old trauma so you can move forward freed of your past!
