Kidney stones are a very common condition, affecting roughly 10 percent of men and 7 percent of women.
Dr. Ralph V. Clayman explains the basics of kidney stones, including prevention, symptoms and treatment. He points to the advancements made in minimally invasive surgeries and treatments, and notes that it has been more than 10 years since open surgery was performed at UC Irvine Medical Center to remove kidney stones.
Clayman was the first physician to perform minimally invasive kidney surgery and specializes in the treatment of kidney stones.
