I have Cerebral Palsy, and I am disgusted by these people. I play video games, read books, and watch movies to escape it for a bit. If I had a kid, that would not be a disability. That would be a reason to live.
I've been a dialysis patient for 22 years, and have irreparable damage to my cervical spinal cord, which has irreversibly impacted my manual dexterity. I actually have a disability. This woman...🤦♂️🖕
@@FreddyKurganNimmo 💗I'm sorry that happened! These people make an insult to real disabilities and should be ashamed when they claim to empathize & care so much for them
I’m a parent. I play games. I play Elden Ring. If my kid needs something, I WILL PUT THE CONTROLLER DOWN. It’s a game. That’s my kid that needs me. I don’t need a pause button. It’s called knowing how to prioritize what matters. Life has a way of requiring you to be able to do that.
Same here. And if I’m playing a game I will play something I know my kids (2 & 5) will enjoy watching, like Pokémon or Mario. Stuff like Elden Ring or Skyrim is best saved until after they go to bed.
Kind of brain dead not to put a pause button or feature in a single player experience, since that has existed as a basic feature for almost every single player game ever. I don't think this is an unreasonable ask. Especially since you can already pause through the help screen if you dig around in the menus. Not necessary for most, but also not an unreasonable request.
Long time ago when I started playing WoW, our best healer often went AFK without saying anything, usually wiping the group/raid, because he had a little kid. Nobody ever really complained and if anything people that did try to complain were the ones that got yelled at.
They never said that one was a priority over the other... obviously the kid takes priority... a pause button is a nice thing to have... just because YOU dont have a need for one does not mean others could not benefit from one. Its a thing that has no disadvantages for having it, but disadvantages for not having it.
I knew a guy who refused to let his grandchildren call him, "Grandpa". They had to call him by his first name. He hated responsibility of any kind. A dedicated CBC listener, of course. I worried because he also encouraged queer philosophy. Very worrying. "Nothing is more dangerous than a weak man." ~Jordan B. Peterson.
its not bigoted you just have to look at what a word means, kids do sometimes disable you from doing stuf so in that context they are a disability. try not to jump on people every chance you get for something, kids can be allot of fun but sometimes they do disable you from doing something you want, they invented babysitters for it.
As a lifelong disabled man. WTF did she just say? I am not easily offended but that was one of the most disgusting, non inclusive and sickening things I have ever heard. If she wants a pause button, ask for it. Do not use the word disability to describe having a kid and a responsibility. Thousands of people can't have kids. Have you ever heard of a person wanting a disability? Or that to be their goal in life? Get in the bin. These types of people need to sit down and be told to shut up.
I have always admired Allanah & her maturity level since IGN days when I did actually click on their videos... she's continued to be very smart, professional, accomplished & mature but *this* take? She fell off the cart. This is the first time I've viewed her as compromised & way way way off
@@maddworld3317 Why the moment she entered IGN is the moment it wen tot shit. She metood like 3 people there and then claimed there was discrimination openly badmouthed that company and then made the entire staff and company paranoid and forced to accept to progressivism. That site literally died when she started working there. Shes always been a garbage human
@@maddworld3317 She recently had a take that you're a "fake gamer" if you dont like modern games. Because "writers work really hard on these games". I just can't stand people like that. THEY can have an opinion but YOU can't.
I’m going to give my input as a father: Kids are hard to deal with. Yes they’re annoying. Yes they’re frustrating to deal with sometimes. Yes they’re expensive. Yes sometimes you wish you could have your free time back. But there’s no better feeling than coming home and having your child run up to you with a big smile and giving you a big hug and holding onto you. Nothing beats holding their hand as they learn to walk and seeing them captivated with the outside world. Nothing is better than watching them sleep and smile to yourself knowing that there’s a little human who loves you more than anything and looks up to you. Kids are difficult, but rewarding to have. That’s my Ted Talk.
My cousin has a kid, and man... Just spending time with that little fellow makes the whole world look a bit brighter. Looking at him learning about the world is magical. And to see a woman say something like this is just disgusting
If only Alana said, "Being a parent of a two-year-old can be tough, especially as a gamer. I wish Elden Ring had a pause button," there wouldn't have been any backlash.
I wonder what she would say to the following; If a Kid is a dissability, when playing VideoGames... do Parents count as a dissability too when the Kid wants to play certain VideoGames but the Parents dont allow it or they dont allow the Kid to play for how long the Kid wants to? (Not to mention the constant call from a Parent: "..Bring out the Trash!.." "..Clean up the Dishes!.." "..Hang up the laundry!.." and when the Kid would scream back through the closed door "..In a Minute!.." the Parents then "..No!.. you do that NOW!.." and the Kid... "..ouuuurrch.." and has to let their Character die.) XD
You guys don't even know what she's saying. She's just talking about how the game is programed to make it easier for parents. Learn what the word disability means. LMFAO
She's saying out loud what most women think about kids these days. Is it surprising some girls are in you only for the money and so many of them hit their mid thirties with no kids in tow? When you think about it it also explains the population collapse, at least to some degree. When all you can think about is how having kids will kill your career and advancement in it, then yes, from their point of view it's a serious "drawback". (And they complain about kids restricting dating, which is another can of worms I'm not getting into, and removing all their free time). It really is such a shame the disgusting state of the world we live in... SMH.
My main hobby and core decompression reactional activity is gaming, and when my newborn arrived, I wasn't able to game. So for a certain period of time, I was indeed disabled when it came to playing my favorite game Star Citizen which has no pause button. I even tried faking a limp, but it didn't work and in fact caused my wife to aggro me. Those were tough times indeed.
@@shadowalchemist6809 Service connected at 90%. I've had harsher insults from better people than she. It's when REMF's get a Bronze Star without a V, then get lauded as some kind of war hero after they die from cancer, a la a certain Biden boy. That's what gets a burr up under my saddle blanket.
Why? You are entitled to it dude. As a disabled veteran you should be taking everything you are entitled to. You dont need to be a hero any more, you've already done that 👍
To be fair, she even tweeted that in game development, that is the language they use when developing ideas. Game devs take that into account when developing certain aspects of games.
Saying that playing a video that doesn't have a pause button is hard when you have young children? Outside of using the wrong word she said nothing wrong. You guys are proving EVS right and turning into offended SJWs.
Absolutely disgusting. How degrading to those of us with REAL disabilities. For example, we just lost a pillar of blind accessibility with the passing of SuperBlindMan - Brandon Cole. He was the consultant on The Last of Us 1 & 2, Mortal Kombat, and Forza. He made gaming more accessible for those of us in the Blind community. A real disability that puts us at a true disadvantage in both gaming and reality. The way people so casually throw around terms these days angers me.
i’m so on board for those features in games i really hope they continue to do so. i play fighting games or competitive player vs player games and i’m all for making arcade sticks, controllers and features to bring more people into the community yes i said community. one that’s supportive. people bring up hit boxes as cheating which i get on some level but if you have a true disability then let them use it because i rather they have access to the game, be on the same level as everyone else even if it means applying controller schemes that would be too much of an advantage to a normal player. we lost a guy that played with his mouth and just a portion of his hand. brolylegs. idk where im going with this but im sick of american culture and what its becoming here
My issue is epilepsy i love video games but need to make sure the games i play are safe sensory which is 100 fine 90% of games are safe but there will always be 1 of out 10 that isn't. Im not going to throw a hissyfit like this girl is over it and i saw a sensory safe option for the first time in a game recently and it was hello kitty of all games haha sorry for the rant accessibility should be embraced not shunned. And some people shunn it which is sad
How odd, this disability is solvable. If you don't want to deal with a kid, don't have one or don't take one home. I'd rather be put up for adoption then be called a disability by my parent.
As an ex leftist with Autism I became a traditionalist because I realized what others in my generation have become and I refuse to have the victim mindset.
I wonder if she'll still think kids are a "disability" when she's elderly and someone else's kids are helping her bathe herself and feed herself and use the toilet.
Most decent parents don't want to burden their kids with taking care of them when they get old. Youre a shit parent if you think this is what children should be used for.
Im 33 and take care of my father, these women wont even have kids to look out for them. Shes also white, and as a white man whos seen modern nursing homes... the last thing you want to be is an elderly white person being taken care of by DEI hired nurses. You think DEI is bad for games and media, wait until you see racist black people who can barely tie their own shoes in charge of caring for your elderly white parents. @@arwenstrong2818
And what happened to "this game/movie/show not for everyone". So if you cant play because you have kids and there is no pause button in the game... then this game is not for you (and it's a good thing, apparently).
That chick is crazy. Once I saw her on twitter tell a guy she hoped he died in a fire because he said he doesn't think verbal harassment is sexual assault.
What that man said isn't an opinion, it's a fact. Legally (which is the one that really counts) they're completely different crimes. My problem with sexual harassment is that every state and the federal government have slightly different definitions of what SH is and a lot of them there isn't a set definition, it's literally anything that makes any person feel uncomfortable or is unwanted.
I'm mentally disabled, I do not like that I'm put into the basket as someone who has a kid and said kid disturb them while they are playing a game. She should know kids always comes first by their parents.
Just going to add that it's a responsibility and a privilege to have kids. Not everyone can (or should). And when you do it correctly it's very rewarding and fulfilling.
You can pause Elden Ring. 1. Press start, 2.Go to inventory, 3. Then press help, 4. Scroll down and activate "Menu Exploration" , 5 Game is paused but Alana is too busy pushing an agenda to figure that out because she's not a gamer she's an activist.
They just want the Japanese game industry to listen to them, its a long con, they are in this for a long haul.Slowly make people bend to your will....Very sinister. They completely subjugated western devs, didnt they?
my 29 year old daughter was born disabled. Every milestone was a struggle and many she never reached. Saying that the child is a disability, which is what she is claiming, is a slap in the face to actually disabled people. A child is a life changing event. Not a situational event. Doesn't matter if the kid is normal or handicapped. It's life altering. My life will never be the same. Not even if I put her in a group or nursing home. My life changed when I got married and when I had my daughter. There is no situational disability. That's moronic. There are life changing events. That's frankly normal.
Shes talking about the ability to play a video game... I to have a young disabled daughter and playing video games without a pause button is a hastle. I think she worded it badly but the core point of her argument is valid.
i live in sheltered housing i worked all my life went to normal school then in 2020 i was ill health retired uk govt bs reasons im 58 autism dyspraxia slight cerebal palsy we have someone here who cant read or write and shes 60 , were all independant except her she relies on keyworker for everything mine just phones me every 2 weeks asking you ok
I get what she is saying. I had to learn to not play games around my kids just because it’s impossible to devote any meaningful attention to a game while the kids around flying all over the house. Now, if I sit I read a book, something I can quickly slip a bookmark into. Or I play my Switch, which can easily be put to sleep. She should have just asked for a pause button. No need for the “situational disability” stuff.
Yeah, when she first started getting famous and encouraged men to dm her for hookups, I thought no don't do that that's bad for everyone just go outside and find a gf don't follow a girl online for that, which I guess she said she's 100% lesbian yesterday so the only reason she got famous was a lie anyway lol. Then she worked for ign, rooster teeth, Sony and creator clash all questionable companies that only take a certain type of person which is a red flag. Now she just randomly ragebaits and gets brought up when scenes in gow2 she was a part of gets brought up as bad.
I used to think she was okay back when she was with IGN but as time went on her TDS reach critical levels especially when Trump was in office, and then you started to see the true side of her, the woke side, she has been a prime example on why everyone that's in our country that has her mind set, should have their work visa revoke and they should be sent back to their on communist country .
Had a spinal cord injury in 2001 I was 11 a huge gamer and I'm still disabled I'm crap at souls games and I own that so I don't play them much since Bloodborne. My quick twitch response in my hands isn't what it used to be but I still am loving Stellar Blade
My daughter enhances my existence in every way. There has been no greater pleasure and honor in my life than being her father. I am insulted by this woman's stupidity.
You CAN PAUSE Elden Ring. 1. Press start. 2. Click on Equipment or Inventory. 3. Press the HELP button 4. Click on MENU EXPLINATION and press OK. Your game is now paused like a normal game until you back out of the menu.
I think the problem is the hypocrisy. The gaming industry is bending over backwards right now to change anything they deem inappropriate in gaming culture, and now it comes out that internally game devs have started to refer to a gamer’s children as disabilities. When you push to change the culture you put your own actions under scrutiny.
What she actually means is how do we the manhaters ruin Japanese games as the gamers who we want to propagandize and subjugate might escape and play eastern games.
Guys relax. She isn't saying a child is a disability. Situational disabilities are a pretty well defined concept in UX design to describe a situation where you are temporarily hindered from doing something at full capacity. As a game developer, she probably uses these concepts professionally when designing game mechanics. Admittedly it does sound very stupid, but concepts like these help designers make products you all love so... chill?
How is Alanah Pearce not a grifter herself? Just because she's worked for certain companies over the years doesn't make her an expert in anything if you realize what she's done with those companies..... Those who she is calling "grifter dudes" are her own peers, she's on the exact same level they are.
Having a kid is a 24-7 hour & 365 day a year job. We are living in very strange times. Kid should always come first . Video game should come dead last.
A situational disability? If you have a kid, that is a responsibility you put before ANYTHING, let alone a fucking video game. If my son needs me, and i'm playing EA FC 2024, i'm losing the game, without question... Christ, these people are utterly broken.
Yeah, these people are beyond saving. Someone needs to take them out of my misery... Anyway, anybody knows where she lives so I can, you know, "say hello"?
@@seefoghall there is nothing actually wrong with using the term "disability". Every person in the comments here seems to conflate 'disability' with a physical or mental version, but the word just means "not able to" and if something makes you not able to do a thing, that something is by definition a disability. Hence, it's not that she should use different terms, it's that Americans don't understand how words are used in English. The problem here was that she spoke in a literacy level higher than the average American has the ability to understand.
She has a little son. I saw him in reflection in one of her shorts imitating starfield characters. She obviously won’t admit she has a kid because then simps won’t want her.
"Situational disability" has to be the biggest "I want to be part of the club" nonsense. Got to get those oppression points! Definitely a skill issue. But what did you expect from someone who used to work for IGN and now at Sony Santa Monica...one of the wokest studios out there
In respect to the game, it IS a disability, disability means "not able to", so if you've not able to play the game, then in the most fundamental use of the term whatever is stopping you is a disability. How is this comment section SO illiterate?
Apparently someone during Side Scrollers skimmed her twitter and found a reply where she said she doesn't have kids. If that be the case, for the sake of the gene pool let's hope she keeps it that way.
I think what she is trying to say is "having young kids is a hindrance or disadvantage to gaming", not a disability. Kids do grow up and you will gain more free time.
What!? As a dad do you know how many times I've left my teammates hanging in Helldivers to take care of my kids? Its a lot and many times when I come back to the game I'm surprised I haven't been booted.
Alanah Pearce seemed ok at first... generally nerdy girl gamer vibe. Then she got a little bit of fame from IGN, and spiraled into leftism and narcissism.
I have a small dog that is always on my lap no matter where I am. There are lots of times when he wants to get down for various reasons. When he wants down he starts scratching my leg and arm. He has no "patience" obviously he is a dog and doesn't understand the concept of waiting a second so I need to stop what I am doing and put him down. I never ever ever ever once thought of this as a disability and/or throw a fit about pause buttons. In fact I never once even thought damn I wish I could pause this. These people are sick
