Seriously my grandparents left me in there for 3 months at 17 to “teach me a lesson” & all I learned was better ways to hide weed, get away w/things & how to lie better & be sneaky. Oh & this was back when they didn’t separate you from the adults or from ppl w/felonies. Still upsets me how I was charged as an adult & thrown the book at even though I hadn’t ever been in trouble. I had just turned 17 & imo should’ve went through juvenile court but ig I’m least happy the system has gotten wayyyy better than bck then. Of course still needs work but it IS better….

Prison for adults is not a reformatory. It’s punishment for the crime you committed. Children under 18 need to be treated differently.

The more we work together, the less discrimination those people will get away with honesty, because there are people who genuinely care and want the best for Morris, I just noticed it's the ones who did him wrong, lied and judged him harshly, they seemed to be the ones he remembered, they took up space in his mind, probably fed his anger. Although I understand, that also led him down the wrong path, and made them right. Morris, it's NEVER TOO LATE to prove em wrong! Also the defence was really insightful - top bloke 👏

That is no different regardless of what colour you are, no one should have love removed from them and everyone is different in terms of what works for them, colour has nothing to do with it. The more people stop using terms like ‘you people’ and ‘us black people/ women/ men’ to separate people, the closer we will be to working together to focus on solutions for individuals. Labelling people is not positive or constructive, it just dismisses individuality and makes wide assumptions that are not helpful, every human being is complex and without exception is so much more than any label.

This young man needs help. You can see it in his eyes that he's lost. Sad confused. Watching this made me very emotional. His mother supports him from what I can tell his father supports him also. But the key thing is they are not together as one family in the household. And you can tell that has a huge effect on this young man. I hate the justice system . They are not there to help this young man. It is so easy to judge someone when you don't understand and are not living their lifestyle. Everyone in that courtroom wants to make me puke.

Of course it is the least person you would ever expect to let one down or set one up for failure. Prison and jail are revolving doors and don’t be fooled. Our elected leaders have their hands in it too.

True I'm the same way... I pray God to change... many times I mad I mean extremely mad over little things with my kids... when I feel it getting worse I walk out and scream, after I feel bad but I still find myself doing it... most of it's getting used and mistreated and see how people do me even their father. I see I'm doing my best but I don't see the listening skill, respect and boundaries. As a mother who doing it hard keep my kids home not surrounding with friends because I told them they little to understand what is going on and don't want them get in trouble. I find myself repeating things over and over so it get me real angry, I guess it's because I want the good kids so I refuse to see they want to act bad... I'm continuing ask God to calm me down lean how to communicate better without raising my voice in other to be heard.

My dad use to beat me because he would have to repeat himself to me to be a better daughter but not knowing I’m just a kid learning just how he did. I have kids myself and I would never treat my kids how my father did to me. My best advice to you is “give that love to your babies that you never had no matter how old they are and they will always be grateful and see people do change no matter how much issues anyone has in life. The enemy will definitely test you because he doesn’t want change from you! Patients is the #1 thing in life no matter how triggered you get that’s just the enemy testing you to acted out!” You got this and never give up on the lord! He definitely has bigger and better for you no matter how old you are! 🙏🏽

@@blazestar3773please get help. I found myself yelling at mine when they were little bc my dad yelled at me and that was my model. You will regret it when your kids gets older. Break that cycle of verbal ABUSE(idk that’s what it was when I experienced it) but I found out thru college psychology classes that it’s emotional and verbal abuse to constantly yell and fuss at them. It’s a critical spirit. Break the cycle with your kids and they won’t continue it into their relationships and to their own kids. I had the same issue and I got help from the Lord, reading my Bible, praying about it, esp reading Proverbs, and also outside the church, help with a therapist. I quit doing it before they finished getting raised and I’m so glad I did.

The weed relaxes the people that don't give them side effects it's also a temporary escape from one's self troubles but now categorized as medicinal under the parentheses for pain, increased appetite, sleep, relaxation, concentration, and a plethora of other medicinal purposes within their own human mental horizon as well as the law on the contrary.. It's always nice to witness something that was considered the Holy Grail of criminality by Police, Parents, & Professionals attached to something compared to midevil times in terms of the consequences where one would have their freedoms taken away if caught on a simple possession charge finally evaporate and pull back on the reigns of insane actions feathered by my invented word called redonkulous.. As time went by decade after decades it was greed that freed the weed & its connoisseurs ironically enough. Whereas the Government stepped in consciously knowing putting the citizens in jails or prisons cost billions for such a trivial pursuit alert for the waverings that got some reconsiderations by sheer logic that spun the wheel of their hypocrisy where they became the drug dealer of the gold green taxation on every gram sold to the public unequivocally.. However again it's nice to witness the ball and chain of the tyrannical neocon structured police & justice system make the right decision for this wonderful transformation where people don't get violated, jailed, and no stigma associated to and with something that incidentally grows wild on this planet called a herb..

I do think the juvenile justice system has improved regarding the incarceration rate and decision making on whether or not to keep juveniles in custody. I was in and out of JDC through out this time period and eventually ended up adult prison myself but have since changed my life. I’m now a substance abuse therapist and some of the client’s I work with get chance after chance where as back in this time period they would have been almost guaranteed to be remanded to custody.

@@jamiecrawford7220weed relaxed one to the point of laziness and loss of ambition. Kids brains are still growing and developing until age 25. I spend from 14-32 smoking pot all the time and I wish like crazy I had that time back. Oh how I wished it was legal back then. And while I do belive it has some medical uses(I’m a nurse and I know it helps certain depressions etc), what I said originally is also true. It is being abused by lots of esp young ppl. As such, the “F- it” attitude is also prevalent with many of the younger kids today. There will be many regrets as they get older.

Maybe he is tired of Morris skipping court and probation . I'm sure he has Had gave Morris chances but Morris messed that up. It's Morris fault. Not the probation officer.

As I understand it he skipped Court on 1 occasion and got drug tested once. He is not a murderer or anything like that. His PO was really aggressive and taught Morris not to trust authority. He made him who he is.

This PO Officer Had No Medical Treatment Note's @ All. Please people just Give This Young Man A Second Chance.

@aseyoga - we saw this many times during our time filming inside juvenile courts. Court can be confusing for everyone, kids and parents alike. Many times, parents told us they felt overwhelmed with how to help their child, and trusted officials to suggest what was best. It was often heartbreaking to watch it all unfold. But if she doesn't and he has no consequences then it could lead to hitting her. Obviously if she can't handle him then he should be sent to his father. But most the cases most of the time there is no father in the home.

I met a young man like you. Once I was Marine, I told him if I wanted to do crazy shyt join 82 AB or Army Rangers he had too much energy and nothing to do with it.

Morris does not have an education. The military is not an option- they will not take him.

Or at least put them in a military type setting like a boot camp similar to training for the army/military. It’ll give them responsibility, structure & learn to listen to authority figures as well as a purpose. If they would’ve done that for me at 17 I can w/out a doubt say it would’ve changed my life rather than putting me in jail w/actual criminals who taught me nothing but criminal behaviors & ways. Mistake parents like mine make was letting them sit in jail is “teaching them a lesson” I learned some lessons alright..just not any good ones

@@kerstieamiya4880 around 28% of ppl in the military are some type of gang related, my teammates aka my battle buddy, you don’t go anywhere without at least 1 extra. He was a white guy, who at once was a gang member. But when he joined the military, his new “gang” was his brothers the same bros that would kill and or die for him. He changed his life around, owns a house, cars, trucks and other toys, he never would have this life if it wasn’t for the military. The justice system should give these kids an two choices join the military or go to jail, if the man chooses the military the judge should release him to a military requirement center or something like that

I agree with what your saying, this case is frustrating though as the kid has hardly gone astray at all and they have him in leg shackles. That's nuts to me. I got caught with possession of pot and at no point did I think I was going to land in some juvie scenario. This court did kids dirty. This is all 15 years old now. It still drives me nuts to see a depressed kid getting squeezed by the state because that DA has a stick up her ass.

@@a88pocketsyeah I didn’t even get to go to juvie. 17 never had been in trouble & was thrown in jail w/adults who were actual criminals..due to that my school literally expelled me..that was the start of a downward spiral that could’ve literally been prevented. I take responsibility for my actions I just feel betrayed as I wasn’t given a fair chance. Same w/this kid his lawyer could’ve easily told him he would tell the judge he didn’t smoke it was just second hand or even could’ve said it’s left over from being in his system still that he has already quit etc etc.. attests the system has gotten better still needs work but definitely better

I very much appreciate ur documentary's. I live in California (LA Co) where our DA is doing all these experiments to the juvenile justice system. Its brought us many mixed emotions. A lot of times it feels like a slap in the face. Soft on crime is not working, no consequences does not hold them accountable either. Anthony will hopefully continue to encourage & educate the "Brats" of tomorrow. Parents too, explain to your kids that freedom is a privilege, poor choices, one bad decision can can/or will destroy many. I can appreciate Anthony expressing how much he misses his Mom😥. That bond is special (between Mom's and son's). His words, demeanor were so genuine. Holding himself accountable and taking responsibility was BIG. Grown men don't even do that,. I have shared Anthony's story with several moms at my support group. So we Thank you too. Please keep us updated on Anthony journey.

We don't have all the answers, obviously, but gaining a glimpse into how and why these tragedies take place can hopefully help lead to better laws and policies that tackle these issues BEFORE they become tragedies.
