Hi, It's Nicole again. This party is super cute. I love the colors and everything about the theme. So my question is, when you book a party do you come with your own props and items or does your client pay for what you decorate with? I hope this made sense. And if you bring your props how do you bill or charge your client for your services?
@BashBesties
@BashBesties 7 лет назад
Thank you!! Yes, when I book a party I bring everything. My angle is parents don't have to do anything, but provide food, drinks, and cake. We provide decor and entertainment. I do bring pink lemonade most of the time, mainly to use as decoration for the tablescape. It's a little extra touch and doesn't cost me that much. I offer different "package upgrades" as well, like favors for example. So, I bring tables, chairs, and all decorate only the items I bring. No hanging or wall decor anymore. This is because I've noticed my higher end clients don't want anything taped or touching their walls and usually they have extravagant fixtures, that I wouldn't even want to chance hanging something from and breaking it lol So, I just excluded it all together. So, yes the client technically pays for what I'm bringing, I've just included it in a all inclusive priced package, so they don't exactly know how much they are paying for any particular portion. So, since I've pre-priced it out, I know how much supplies cost for any particular theme and I pay my "labor" a set price per party. I make sure to charge accordingly to include those expenses as well as what I want to be paid. I save money having set themes because I can re-use materials. For example, the easels can be re-used. For the next party, I may change them up using washi tape or spray paint to suit the color scheme the client has chosen. So, basically one party essentially pays for the rest whenever I introduce a new theme and I only buy new materials for each theme as needed. The hardest part is reinventing the same theme over and over. Many of my competitors offer the same exact color scheme every single time, I try to switch up as much as I can while still staying within the budget I've allowed for each party. Let me know if that answered your question. :)

Thank you! Cup of water and a drying napkin just as any brush. We use regular paint brushes now but this worked just as well for littles at the time. The girls were so young it’s mostly just for fun, not to be too precise 😊

Girl you are amazing! I really need to consult with you asap. I'm looking to start my business as soon as possible. Do you charge for consulting? and I need that guide when you release it. Great videos!
@BashBesties
@BashBesties 7 лет назад
Hello, Thank you so much! Right now I am creating free and affordable tools for business women to get there businesses started and branded. I did not plan to start consulting until further down the line, once I've created a solid resource base first. However, I have been getting contacted about consulting one-on-one lately. So, at this time I am not currently offering those services, but I am going to begin developing some affordable, yet substantial consulting options soon for everyone interested. If you can give me some feedback on what you need assistance with specifically and in general it would help me tailor the content. You may email me at theofficialmakeovermom@gmail.com if you'd like to speak privately. Thank you for watching and the guide will be released soon! :)

I would love to start something like this with my sisters. One of my sister has gotten her cosmologist certificate and works doing manis and pedis. Question: When you book a spa party do you do the event by yourself? Or do you take help who know how to do manis and pedis? I have no idea how to do manis or pedis so wouldn'tbe much help other than maybe helping my sister for the event to go smoothly. PS I love your work hope to do something like this someday :)
@BashBesties
@BashBesties 7 лет назад
Hi Rubi, This is a great business to start if you have sisters to work with! When I started I used my husband's little sister and cousin as my helpers and actually his sister still works with me til this day. So, I've only done one spa party by myself and it wasn't a typical party package that I offer. I did it as a "Rent a Hostess" type deal, where I went alone, set up one station (no tables, no chairs, no decor, nothing extra.) and I let the girls come to me one at a time to get their hair and nails done. I wasn't able to charge as much of course, but I was able to go alone and not have to haul the usual car full of stuff. That being said, this is not the type of business you can really do alone, because you have to tend to so many girls in a short period of time. Little ones don't have the patience that adults do. We don't mind waiting to get services while we're relaxing, little ones can do this for like 5 minutes lol They need to constantly be entertained. I normally only need one helper, but depending on the guest count 2 max. (So, if you have at least two sisters, you are already ahead of the game.) I give my clients a maximum guest count because I never really have access to more than 2 people to work a party. This is because all my workers utilize my business as a side hustle, so they don't have the most open and reliable availability. I'm a licensed cosmetologist as well, so I work the parties (provide services) alongside my helpers. So, I handle everything really. Booking clients, ordering products, planning the event, decorating the event, working the event, and follow up with the client. It's a lot on just one person. So, you're fortunate to have sisters to share the responsibility with, but that also means sharing profits. However, if I could choose between making more money running the business by myself and running a less stressful business with my sisters, I'd go with the less stress hands down. You might make less per party in the beginning, but with more people you are able to book more parties, larger parties (how you make the big bucks), and split the responsibility between all of you. So, for instance one of your sisters should maybe be in charge of customer service. She might handle booking inquiries, answer phone calls, respond to emails, get deposits, collect the signed contract, and do follow up after the party is done. Also, handling securing marketing materials or creating a website. One sister could be in charge of decor and basically the "planning" and execution of the party. This one would use the deposit and place online orders, buy decor, supplies, uniforms, etc. and make sure the business as a whole has a uniform look. Then they would be head of setting up once you got to the location and be the "host" the party. They may also be the photographer, since they aren't actually doing services during the party, so they can get some great shots for the website. Your sister who is a licensed cosmetologist could be in charge of deciding what beauty services to offer, how much they should be charged, how much time they take, and be lead of doing all services for the girls during the party. She will need help though. So, she can teach you all how to do the services or any others you're more comfortable with, maybe hair or make-up. She won't be able to service everyone by herself, so everyone should learn how to do everything so everyone can help, especially if the party is running behind. Just some ideas, but you get the picture! You can obviously see why having more help is better. I do all of these tasks myself, my helpers only help set-up the party and provide services, and help clean-up. So, you and your sisters can definitely do something like this, it's not difficult, it just takes research, planning, and starting! Your situation with your sisters sounds very promising, if you guys have time start working on it now you could easily get your first party by summertime!.. and that is the busy season since kids are out of school! Well, good luck with everything Rubi! Keep in touch and let me know when you guys get started! If you don't know where to start, but you want to begin planning, you can get my step by step guide to help you sort everything out, here's the link: www.etsy.com/listing/499897212/guide-how-to-start-your-business-and :) Thanks for watching!

Hi Michelle, You can get the same type I used on Amazon. Here's the link: amzn.to/2k4qQG7. You can also find them at Michael's. Walmart has a pack as well in stores, but they are the flat kind, but may work well for you if you're trying to hang artwork you've made. Try to use a coupon wherever you can too! :)

Thank you for your videos so helpful. Did you provide the tables and stools for this party?
@BashBesties
@BashBesties 7 лет назад
Thank you Debi! I do provide my own tables and stools for every event, just to cut the expense of having to rent them and deal with a third party. However, lately I've been thinking about starting to rent so I can use different chair styles. I use my van to transport items, so only folding chairs and stools fit efficiently. :)

thanks so much for the reply. really looking into getting into the event business on the side. I put together my daughter's Quinceañera on my own. (That includes making everything on my own.) I love it!

HI Debi, of course! Yes surprisingly event planning is a great side business, you'd never guess. Especially if you make decor and just handle event styling. You can take on as many events as you have time for and people love a completely custom/hand crafted party decor. If you have photos of the event. I would just create a starting price or some basic packages and market your daughter's quince photos as your portfolio of your work! You can definitely book your first client by the end of summer aka "party season." :)

So cute, what type of fabric/paper did you cover the table cloth with so it doesn’t get stained?
@BashBesties
@BashBesties 2 года назад
I don’t use any type of tablecloth liner. I just chalk up the tablecloth and charge it into the package price. However, if you use washable + lighter colored paint you should be able to get it out. Or you can use a clear plastic tablecloth on top, you can usually buy them at the fabric store.

Reading the comment have been helpful. I've been inspired to offer the same services in my area. I'm a stay at home mom and was looking for a way to get my feet wet with event planning. I Love this idea. With that being said how do you determine your packages and prices? If you have an email I would love to email you some questions. I am also excited to download your book.
@BashBesties
@BashBesties 7 лет назад
Thank you, I'm glad you were able to get something out of it. That's great you want to start a similar business in your area! It is the perfect side hustle for a stay at home mom. I determine my packages and prices based on a couple different factors. For themes, I am all about being unique and different. However, what I found is that most parents seem to pick the same few themes for the most part. That being spa, painting, cupcake parties, etc. I offer original themes like "Glam Camp" which is totally cute, but just doesn't seem to be that popular. Go figure! So, I would stick with basic party themes to start. Prices are determined by: 1. How much I want to get paid. 2. How much my target market can afford and would like to pay 3. How much it cost me to do each package (materials and labor) 4. How much my competitors are charging So, do some research on Craigslist and Google. See if there are already some companies that offer similar services you'd like to offer. See what they charge and what themes they are offering. If you see a common theme, that should tell you some of the basic services you should offer too because that has probably been the most popular among your community. If you need help getting started planning out your business, you can get my guide here: www.etsy.com/listing/499897212/guide-how-to-start-your-business-and My email is theofficialmakeovermom@gmail.com if you have private questions you'd like to ask :)

The stools are from Ikea, only $4.99 each! www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90184047/ It's called the MARIUS stool. They used to have a light pink color a couple years back, but I missed out on them. Now, I believe they sell them in white, black, and red!
