Kieran Alger just ran the entire length of the Danube River in Europe. The journey took him 1,800 miles, 67 days, and 3 pairs of shoes. In this interview, we discuss his training, his journey, where he slept, and what he ate. And we also go over the pieces of equipment that were the most important for such an epic journey.
(sorry for the double post, but the original one had an error in the video file so half the interview was clipped from the RU-vid upload. one day, I'll get good at YouTubing. but that day was not today).

I'm just thrilled that you've had Kieran on your channel, he deserves so much more recognition for his incredible achievement. Following him during his preparation and then every single day of his adventure, through all the ups and downs, not knowing each day how he was going to do, it was truly an incredible privilege. It really changed my attitude to running too, it has inspired me to do bigger things and treat running as more of an adventure myself. He ran raising money for a worthy cause too, underprivileged children.

Thanks @@bev9708 all going well atm - yes reduced mileage and in full taper mode - no running buddies at my pace but I'll look for an official pacing group. What about you, from memory your mara is a little later than Melb? Kieran is a legend - many thanks for this interview Kofuzi!

@@bartekzielinski1645 Yeah mine is 15th, Marathon de la Somme, in the north of France. I got sick which put a damper on my training but I still have time to get more kms under my belt, though still feeling weak… I figure it’s good practice anyway running slowly while feeling weak! Hmmm maybe good idea to try running with an official pacer, I kinda like just going at my own pace, however I feel! Are you going for a specific time?? Sorry I don’t remember, I think you already said actually. Me I just wanna survive, though secretly I wanna do under 4h30min 😁

Glad you enjoyed it Sean. And can't overplay how these acts of kindness got me through on this challenge. It was incredibly life affirming to meet so many people who were so generous and selfless. I wouldn't have made it without them but also it's changed the way I see the world. For the better. Not that I wasn't hopefully a kind person already but I now see just how much you can improve someone's day with very simple acts.

Impressive how a sport adventure entails feelings of freedom, leads to acts of kindness, feelings of gratitude and amazing experiences of ailings healing by themselves almost miraculously. Interesting from the beginning to the end.
