I think the song is in the perspective of one of the children and NOT the cat, I believe the cat comforts and lives among dead children, ones who can't find peace and are lost, which explains why there are no adults around. The kids stay around the cat for it is the only one who understands them and can keep them company
I can't stop hearing this song! I have a theory, and it makes me sad: So, it is said cats can see spirits, ghost, living energy, or simply death people, however you want to call it. So the cat of this song is popular among a lot of death children, spend time with them, and also seem to comfort them. Sometimes the cat seems to sing some verses, like: "Why won't any of the adults die? Could it be because they're so smart they don't have to go to school?" This leaves me to one sad conclusion: Nowadays children kidnapping is becoming a daily crime, specially when they leave school. So the children of this song ends like that, "destination unknown" (as the song says), they die, and since they can't go anywhere, they find shelter with their hairy spiritual guide. That's why the cat has this mentality of: adults are smart, because they don't have to go to school. That means children are stupid, and every time they leave school, they head towards heaven, and that's why adults never die. IDK, maybe the lyrics aren't even that literal, but that's what makes me think.
the title of the song also adds a rather grim interpretation to it. There's a common rumor that cats eat the corpses of their owners once they get the chance to... i couldn't get that out of my head when reading the lyrics
Idea for a horror game anyone? You are the protagonist of this story. A child that has found themselves in between worlds where the dead linget and spirits wander. Your only living connection to the world of the living is a strange cat that appears to you one day. Following its tiny footprints, you discover the ghosts of the children who murdered in a large abandoned building (a mansion, a hospital, take your pick here). Some want to rest. Some want to help. Some want revenge. Their fates for everlasting sleep rest in your choices. The cat is your guide and your protection as you wander through different areas and solves puzzles to piece together how each child met their demise. For every child you save, the cat gives one of its nine lives to send them to heaven, saving its last and final life for the very last child left behind. You.
OR there’s more than eight children to save in the building. So you, the player, have to choose which kids to help and save. This could determine different endings depending on who you did/didn’t save, and you could even have an option to not save yourself.
@@keeperfan1315 OHOHO MORAL DILEMMAS. Maybe some children you get the full scope of who they were and what they did when they were alive, others are ambiguous and some outright lie, so you go around to other children for their personal accounts and whoever you feel sympathy for. Might even throw some adults who used to work there for added feels ✨
I see some theories in the comments, and I want to put my interpretation of the song here too... (tw: suicide) So the song is like a cat's speech, and the cat is talking about children suffering at school at the dining table with ghost of children who committed suicide because they can't take it anymore at school. The cat finds it pathetic how the adults don't understand because they are not at school, and children are suffering in silence, alone ("no one" is stressed a lot). To me, petting is like comforting, so when it says "pet it" or something similar, the cat wants to comfort the children and cuddle with them so that they can feel warm and feel that someone cares about their feelings. While the sleeping part is with children who don't exist, meaning that they probably killed themselves, and they'll rest in peace where the cat's at. The lyrics of the chorus are kind of different. The first time it was "to heaven", the second (or third, I forgot) is "destination unknown". So the heaven one is about how people think that after you graduate from school you're gonna get a good job and earn money, and live a life like living in heaven. However, at the end the cat reveals that even though the children made it through school, it doesn't mean that they know exactly where they're going with that diploma or certificate, so it's not as promising. At the beginning of the song, the cat mentioned "ghost of children who can't go anywhere", which probably also means those children who couldn't succeed and killed themselves. The fact that "help me" or "I'm sorry" can be heard at 2:00 when slowed down shows how children screamed for help, and is in guilt for the mistakes they made at school. I might be looking too deep into this, but these voices are speeded up as the song plays in normal speed, which makes me think that the screams are neglected by adults and cannot be heard. Just my thoughts tho... it's ok to have another interpretation yourself
I personally interpret this as younger people turning to escapism and eventually suicide as life begins to get harder. "Pet it, pet it, pet it. Let's cuddle, forever and always." The cat represents different forms of escapism. Things like drugs, alcohol, gaming compulsion, isolation (hikikomori lifestyle,) etc. "Together with the good-for-nothing children, I'll pet the cat too, being the good-for-nothing that I am." Implies that the cat is a common factor among those shunned in society, which is why I interpret it as things like addiction.
The old Kikuo is back!! This sounds like an amazing blend of his earlier works and the tracks on KikuoMiku5, like Kara Kara Kara no Kara. I'm absolutely in love.
Have u listened to the Kikuohana act 1 album? It's also a very theatrical album,my favorites are Mr.Morning Mr.Night,Fidgety Theater and Nocturnality. Kikuohana albums are very underrated,a lot of hidden gems are in there(well,Majority of Kikuo songs aswell)
I listened to this song and ..god how depressing this song is. watch me write this whole theory with no regret (lol) my theory is that: when they start the song it goes" at the dining table full of no one, nonono one the cat is talking, like every other day, with ghosts of children who cant go anywhere" when they say "no one " when there is obviously ghost children but, they are reffered as nobody because nobody notices them. After that it says "who cant go anywhere" saying that they cant find their home so they stay with the cat that lets them pet him. the second verse is " why wont any of the adults die, could it be because theyre so smart?" it means that adults are always reffered as "wise" and the "know-it-alls" so they have the "guide to life"as they say. then it says"that they dont have, dont have to go to school?" in this verse thyre saying that adults act like theyve never experienced school, what I mean by this is that for these kids the pressure that they take from theyre parents and so-called "adults" and sometimes by bullying is way too much to bear with ,mostly for children .the line where it says "stupid,good-for-nothing children" they are calling themselves that way because the adults around tehm say it so much that it feels like its their name . the verse that goes " pet it pet it pet it , cuddle with it forever and always" in my opinion it means that they feel comforted for once and want to feel like this forever and ever. not like how the adults were treating them."it's like a group of children leaving school together, and going to heaven 1,2" this part is the sad part for me because they are saying : a lot of kids are suic!ding, thinking that theyre pain will be over. basically the song means " because of the pressure and stress parents are giving their children just because their not getting "straight A's" causing to give them depression and anxiety, that makes them think su!c!de is the only way out of it" It's Impressive how Kikuo's songs are so deep and the music matches the theme. and yet a majority of people dont get the message...🤔🤔😔😔✊ I hope anybody going through any of this gets well soon and knows that I love you all so take care of yourself!😊👌😘👌💖💖💖✨
i believe it means heaven as in school children meant to be going to a greater place (as in going to college and having a good future, from studying and doing well), but later on in the song they grow older. they get good grades but now what? theyre still worthless (most likely considered worthless by their family.. and have heard that so many times they believe it themselves). at the end of the song they say they are “sleeping” with the cat and their destinations are now unknown. (aka as in they k** themselves from the stress of everything that has happened. when you are dead no one knows where you are, you’re unknown like the other dead children. its common for su*cidal people to think no one would miss them, and their feelings are unknown to the world. but specifically in this context, unknown probably means your soul is not in the world anymore once you die.) this was a lot and im really late but yeah. i hope you or someone else gets this 🧍🏽♀️

[Fan Translation] I completely forgot I left this comment and suddenly RU-vid decided to tell me I had a bunch of replies. I’d like to think that 3 years later I’m somewhat better at Japanese now, and I can see some mistakes, so I’m going to re-do my translation from scratch - and I’ll throw in romaji, too. I’m going to avoid the subtitles on the video so I don’t get tempted to plagarise - if there are any similarities, then it’s a coincidence/simply the most straightforward translation, if there are any major differences, then I’d definitely trust the subs on the video over my very amateur translation. If anyone who commented nice things under my original translation is reading this, thank you for the kind words. いない ないない ない人だらけの食卓で inai nai nai nai hito darake no shokutaku de At a dinnertable surrounded by people who aren’t there 猫は話すよ 今日も どこにもいけない neko wa hanasu yo kyō mo doko ni mo ikenai The cat speaks. I love this song in particular because of how he manipulates Miku’s voice to sound so natural and whisper like. It creates a nice eerie atmosphere that leaves me craving for more and more. Truly a spectacular artist and song 👏
@@notmitsukiyololcould be like kaleidoscope song from kikuo. I mean it has dream in the comment and kaleidoscope is definitely about something something dream or whatever the heck it means.
I think it's about a child who was basically rejected from her society, so she has to sit at the "dining table full of no one" with only the cat as her company, as well as the souls of the lost, dead, forgotten children who had her same fate and also had to go to the cat's dining table to die. the cat is like a connection to the afterlife for the outcast children.

This song is so beautiful :3 I think it has a connection with "Hole-Dwelling"... It's just a theory. First of all, the covers are similar. Plus, the song says the children can't go anywhere, because they don't belong/fit anywhere, and in Hole-Dwelling it says "We can't be in that world, neither can we be in this world". The song may be a continuation of Hole-Dwelling, or maybe Hole-Dwelling is the continuation. Maybe this cat is the "god of children", maybe it betrayed them. The children used to pet it, it made him happy, so he used them and then left/hurt them. That's why in Hole-Dwelling they say: "Dear God-the god of children, we are covered in scratches in the sandbox where you amused yourself". Crazy, ikr! Don't mind me. (Sorry for my bad English, I'm brazilian).

DamnImissed 2 Lmao quit annoying others with your hollow insults and get a life, you pitiful excuse for a human being! You're nothing more but a leech thirsty for attention! You suck! Literally!
DamnImissed 2 Oh was this too much for your brain? I thought I already dumbed it down enough? Such a pity, although it's not surprising that a fellow who could only come up with nonsensical insults couldn't process what I typed in for as far as a minute. Do you even know what a weeaboo means? Honestly I don't know what's your real motive for pestering other people, but I would advise that you shouldn't waste your energy on something like this. Use your capabilities to good use and quit this. Are you that thirsty for attention that you would stoop this low just to get it? I hope your brain gets what I'm telling you. Call U53-Y0UR-BR41N-F0R-0NC3 if you're still having trouble.

This song describes about a child's feeling, especially the terror that they've experienced of being kidnapped. The Lyric "Why won't any of the adults die? Could it be because they're so smart that they dont have, dont have to go to school?" It means that because the adults dont have to go to school they won't die (kidnapped)
more like the stress of school and having parents who push you too hard, but yeah😭!!! the kids mean “why wont any of the adults die” as in “why arent the adults so stressed about work that they dont k** themselves? they must not have school to stress them out.” in a younger kids mind, people who are done with school are smart, and most likely not stressed by anything! the kids asking why the adults are alive are talking to dead children who died by s*icide (most likely from stress too) btw. and its clear theyre in an abusive situation but not kidnapping. its parents who think youre worthless no matter what. hope this helps!
Here’s a theory it’s about children that are abused talking how the adults are smart enough to get away with it and how they die from the horrifying abuse and they have a or imaginary friend to help themselves to get through it
Kikuo is such an amazing music composer and add the combination of Miku and hanatan and maybe even other singers and the songs will always be perfect no matter what, that's just how amazing he is.
I know this probably gonna be buried in the comments but I feel as if this song isn't the perspective of the cat or the children but rather it alternates between them and towards the second half of the song a third party joins in, a lonely child who eventually joins the rest of the children. well anyways if you see this I hope your having a nice day/night, get some sleep!
My guess about this song is a small child being neglected. Her only friend is a cat. The parents arguing is the mouse, but the pop is the cat landing on the mouse to end the conflict, just like how the cat eases her anxiety when the parents fight. She is afraid of her parents, and the things they do, hence why she says “sshhhh, sleep with the cat”. She’s pretending to be asleep as to not get hurt. She pets the cat constantly as a way to ease her anxiety, it’s her fidget. That’s why, there’s nobody at the cat’s dining table.
