The movie litterally happens in her face, in her body. There's hardly any other movie where the actress is SO important. But most of the questions are about Tarantino... What a missed oportunity to understand how she gave such a great performance.
Agreed .. her facial expressions are much more deep then the actual show of death. But the combination is very much what made that movie. Dedicated indeed ☺️
Her father was a Stanford professor if I remember correctly, and she is from Massachusetts. It has the highest level of educated people per capita in the country....lol. But you can learn to be well spoken. Different programs. You tube, etc. :)
Not excusing his approach to the interview but you have to admit that at the time Tarantino was this larger-than-life force of nature of a director. People couldn't help but ask questions about him. Uma's performance needed time to ruminate in people's consciousness for a few years.
@@petesorensenguitar Oh, I know what you mean... It's just a shame that he barely acknowledged the work that she put into the films. It was both their idea.
Uma is hand down one of the best actors/actresses of all time. I can’t believe how well she pulls of this character and does it so well in a way that fits the artistic style so well
Uma was just on fire in these films. They were a great vehicle for her. Tarantino got truly stellar performances out of his main players, each and every one of them. The films are mythical, almost like the swords made by Hatori Hanzo.
Weird hearing Uma talk about ‘the baby’, and now she’s also a famous actress herself (Maya Hawke) Amazing interview honestly, thanks for uploading this!
She's absolutely ethereal. Sad looking back on this time and knowing all the horror she had to endure at this point in her career though. Hollywood doesn't foster talent, they consume it
@@nataliep6385 she was sexually assaulted by Harvey Weinstein and almost paralyzed crashing a car during a driving scene she didn’t feel comfortable doing but was coerced into doing anyway.
Charlie totally misunderstood what Uma was saying about Quentin being a self taught original director. Of course all directors are influenced by other movies and art, but her point was that he doesn't feel bound to any typical formulas or narrative styles, he believes in his vision 100%
@@BostonRedSoxForever please learn to read lol. Clearly the comment was indicating that they wish Uma was in more movies, not how many movies Uma owns *facepalm*
@@musicalmistress101 LOL! Reading in between the lines definitely is NOT your strong suit, is it? I didn't misunderstand anything! Just wanted to hint at some very bad grammar! (I know, some people just aren't intelligent enough in order to detect irony or sarcasm - especially on the internet!) And you might be one of them! 🤔
@@BostonRedSoxForever Nice attempt at insulting me but I'm highly intelligent thank you. Maybe your sarcasm didn't come off as anything but ignorance, did you think about that? It might be funny to you but no one else ;)
11:55 "Having children flips the game from being about you to being about what you can create in a home and what your responsibilities are." This is what brought me here.
@@NASkeywest Jeez this speaks so much about his true character, ignorance and ego he obviously has warped boundaries in reality as well as his writing.
She is my hero. I met her once at Bob Dylan's show in 96 and all I have to say is she is so real...I wish I was her stunt double or my daughter was in kb3. Literally..Uma is the best of the best.
uh...prolly has to do with horrific experiences in hollywood circles, those during shooting, and the fact that her husband cheated on her in 2003 (at about this time) with their gd nanny for christ's sake. she removed herself and i applaud her.
Woke up from a long sleep. He yawned, stretched, and at last opened his eyes completely. For two minutes, however, he lay in his bed without moving, as though he were not yet quite certain whether he were awake or still asleep, whether all that was going on around him were real and actual, or the continuation of his confused dreams. But when they looked at me with their sweet eyes full of love, when I felt that in their presence my heart, too, became as innocent and just as theirs, the feeling of the fullness of life took my breath away, and I worshipped them in silence. Their children were the children of all, for they all made up one family.
I remember watching this years and years ago and loved it! Watching it again now after how ever many years and I just had to comment and applaud both Uma for how amazing she is as a woman but then the interview guy (can never remember his name) for asking such amazing questions and being a gentleman whilst doing so. Love finding these old gems on RU-vid! ❤️
Uma's interviews are always amazing! She is so articulate, charismatic, and charming that you could do an entire show with her. And I agree, she is an amazing woman! Also, the interviewers name is Charlie Rose I believe.
I guess you're being sarcastic about the interviewer. Yes, Charlie Rose was often very good. Here, he uses his guest to get answers about somebody else. I don't think he did as much research beforehand as he should have. Had he done his homework, maybe the questions would have generated more enlightening answers.
Well, the host might have interrupted a lot, but he asked great questions and she's just a beautiful wise soul. possibly it's my favorite interview now!
I remember her tweeting about him making her drive way too fast for this movie and her crashing and getting hurt. And I heard that she was upset with him for pushing her so hard physically in this movie knowing she had just had a baby a couple months before.
This film is my all-time favourite, it's memorable, unique and a little campy ngl. Also, the action scene, no one can recreate it, truly too iconic. No wonder it became a cult classic.
i'd be drooling all over myself trying to conduct this interview. hell, here we are in 2024 (30 years after first seeing her in pulp fiction at the end of high school) and i'm drooling regardless. nothing compares to Uma circa 93-03. nothing. my wife, who looks nearly just like Uma circa 03, agrees.
My favourite actor, and favourite film. Seeing so much vulnerability in her though, hopes she finally talks about the sexual harassment stuff. But no rush either way when she is ready.
