Can't kill the console off with cheaper PC builds anymore man. PS4's are 329.99 now, Xbox One is 350.00 with 2 games free plus the gold program, and Wii U is 299.99 with Cat Mario and Nintendo Land free. I am not saying consoles are better, they are not, but I am saying that a 300 dollar computer is really really stretching it.

Okay, here's the deal. I love pc and console gaming. The thing is, not only some games will look better on a console than a $400 dollar pc since developers make the games for console (most of the time). But if you have a $400 pc you will want to upgrade after a year and even before that; you will be in a disadvantage against people with better pc's ( this is only for people that play multiplayer games). With slower loading time and a choppier frame rate. Consoles put you at a level playing field. Also even though I am more accurate with a mouse, I'm more comfortable with a controller. ( If you use a controller on pc in a multiplayer game you will be at a disadvantage. This is just my opinion. I love both. Btw, I don't have the best pc. It costed about $1700, but it's getting kinda old.

Watching this vid now in 2021 kinda hurts. Like if you didn't upgrade this PC at all and just kept the same hardware like you do with the consoles (unless you got that mid-gen refresh pro consoles) then this PC is just on it's knees with the games that have came out within like the last 2 or 3 years. If you built this PC as a main compared with the PS4 and it's whole entire life cycle then it just hurts to think about. It really makes the consoles seem like a better value when you see what a developer can do with a set piece of hardware and actual optimization.

Honestly, if you're going PC, go all out. Yes, there are some advantages to PC inherently but I come for the graphics and framerates, and you really might not get that with this setup. I would go with an $800-$1000 build, you're sure to get high to ultra on any game out now.

I just don't understand why someone would ever spend 400$ on a potato that will be obsolete in a year or two max. Why not spend 200$ more and get a way better experience? Why play every game on low, maybe medium, when you can play all of them of medium and even high settings with decent framerates? For 400$ might as well buy a PS4. At least it saves you some headaches.

Wow, I didn't know that a keyboard, mouse and Windows license could just appear out of thin air like that. There is way too much typical PC gamer elitism here. PC gaming is cool and there are a lot of perks to it but if you're literally incapable of thinking of a reason for why someone would want a console over a PC... sorry, but you're an elitist, and absolutely no one likes that (despite how much you guys like to kid yourselves as you pat each other on the back).

To think, just a few months ago, I was using an AMD Athlon X4 760K, 8 GB DDR3 RAM and an EVGA Geforce GTX 750ti. Now, I'm running a rig with an overclocked Intel i5-6600K, 16 GB DDR4 RAM and a GTX 960 SC, with a few upgrade paths down the road. All I'll really need to upgrade is my graphics card (I'll wait for the next line of Nvidia cards and see what they have to offer) and my PSU (running a Corsair 750W power supply, but it never hurts to have more).

A lot of these comments are about the OS prices. Go to /r/microsoftsoftwareswap/ and pick up a key for 8-20 dollars depending on what you want. Note that this is a grey market and you'll have to install windows using a USB stick but that shouldn't be a problem since there's guides there.

I don't think PC gamers get the fact that a console is more than just the tech you put in it. Whether it's a ps4 or Xbox one both consoles have an interface specially made for gaming. Yea you don't get the same power as a PC because it obviously doesn't cost the same. But you get a extremely different experience when playing with a console. Any game including "The last of Us" and some other titles Console exclusive are great... But they're story based so I could just watch a playthrough on RU-vid and get just as much out of it without wasting $60 on a plastic case, and $400 on a doormat

Buying a FX-4100 with a broken heat sink, case, two case fans, a gtx 210, a good ASUS motherboard (I think it was) a 240 gb ssd, and a CD drive prebuilt from Craigslist, I installed a open box refurb GTX 750 ti (Which I bought for $99 from Newegg, and then an AMD AM3+ socket heatsink bracket, and the Windows came preinstalled but unactivated Windows 10 Pro. I bought the craigslist broken PC from craigslist for $160, I used an Old ass monitor I had laying around thee house but you could buy one for $20, and after taxes and shipping the GTX 750 Ti were $120 or so. Estimated total: $300, and I have pictures. I gave this to my PC to my best friend after he fell in love with playing Rocket League on my custom PC. From the point he told me he wanted to get into to PC gaming, to the time he went home with the computer was three days. It was crazy. But then two days later I had to bring the GTX 750 ti over when it shipped (the bracket came much sooner) and install it. So he gamed on a GTX 210 for like two or three days I think, and it actually ran Killing Floor, Call of Duty World at War, Rocket League, and others on low settings at 20 fps or lower. Surprised the hell out of me. I thought he'd be lucky to play Terraria. All hail the master race, I've inducted my best friend for $300 (this all happened last week, and I want to be a computer component engineer one day, or maybe just work for a Pre-built company building PCs for them. I have like 6 parts pcs, I ask people for their old broken ones all the time and recycle parts and then sell the rebuilt PCs on craigslist. Just as a hobby.

Just my opinion: What about demanding games to compare a quality of a ps4 or xbox one? You come very close and I have a great respect to you guys but you forgot about BLU-RAY drive, WIFI device and at least one WIRELESS GAMING CONTROLLER because to be fair BOTH CONSOLES come with those as STANDARD so we're looking at another $80-$120. I am NOT a console lover I love PC's and in fact I have a great EXPERIENCE if it comes to screwing motherboards and other pc components together. Just look it up what I have build... Great job guys but for the price you pay for consoles (ps4 & xbox one) there is no matching pc yet...

This is a few tips and tricks for people with really low budgets such as myself. If you don't have a lot of money to spend on all of these components: frankenbuild. Get your hands on a decent handed-down/broken desktop, repair it, and slowly build up the money for the parts that you need. I had a desktop that was handed down to me, but the motherboard was shot. I bought a new one for $30 plus a compatible CPU cooler for the same price. The computer itself is $600 in today's market, so I basically built a $600 computer for 1/10th of the price.

First off, you don't play on consoles because of the graphics. You play on consoles for the games you can't play on PC. Doesn't matter which is better there are still pros and cons to both. Some cons (troubleshooting for problems and maintenance and ect...) may not be that much of big deal to a tech head like yourself but for the average person it can be a hassle or just annoying after awhile. When you have the passion for it then it's not a problem. For $300-400, I still rather buy a console. If I want a gaming computer, I'll do it right the first time get something worth around $1000 instead. I don't see the point in doing that. I done it before and I regretted it. Go big or go home with pc gaming IMO.

750ti 2GB actually runs BF4 on Ultra settings, 1080p, at very playable average of ~40fps. Lower or disable a few settings, and it's steady 60+fps, constantly. Just recently people have done YT benchmarks on GTA5 with this card + i3, and it ran at quite impressive 35fps on Very High pre-set, at 1080p. tl;dr: GTX 750ti 2GB is THE best budget card ever created. Some models also run only on PCI-E port's power, meaning you don't need to have a fancy high-end PSU to power it up.

I very recently switched from ps4, to pc. But I said that If I switch, I am going to go all out. So I ended up building a system for around $2500. I must say I can't believe what I have been missing out on all these years. Right about now, my PC will be stronger than the next 2 gens of consoles, maybe even more.

EVGA 750 Ti Superclocked is a fantastic card and an honorable mention that I feel should be here. Pre 2014 games all 1080p, filters, max settings. This card is performance per price GOLD.

Thr biggest thing that interest me about PCs is the actual BUILDING. Looks fun. I won't be getting one anytime soon, but maybe in the future who knows. For now I'll stick with my 360 and buying games through eBay for like 5 bucks.

I understand the search for optimum quality, it's fair. We're living in an HD era. But speaking about gaming experiences on PC being the best, and with the most exclusivities, frankly, you'd never get an Okami, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Bloodborne, Zelda, MGS, MadWorld, No More Heroes, Bayonetta 1&2, FFXVI..., Red Dead Redemption, you name it; on PC (to start with). Those most original masterpieces and genre defining games of our time are born on consoles. And everybody finished and enjoyed GTA V on console more than a year before PC gamers ?? So I don't get the PC superiority, other than the purely visual/ performance one, which for sure a good point (and yeah, mouse+keyboard for FPS, strategy games. But for the rest ???). Still, the PS4 does a pretty freaking good job already (did you guys try Bloodborne, seriously ?? I had eye-gasms so many times), and for me, the purely originally art directed game stem from the console developers, clearly (what would the world be without Nintendo, Capcom, Konami, Vanilla Ware, From Software, Rockstar, Naughty Dog, Sony, Platinum, Grasshopper Manufacture... ?). And the Wii U has got ass-kicking stuff you'd never get anywhere else (Wonderful 101). And the 3DS !! Gosh, I'm gonna go play Boktai again.

Console= play on a 70 inch TV or any giant screen on your house, sit/lay on any couch of your house, or bedroom, connect it to your home theater system. Pc= glued to a 15-20 inch screen, glued to you computer desk/chair. Huge, huge differences.

That 750TI is falling behind, 18 months after this video. Those that built this rig would already be looking to upgrade. Though if you do an upgrade, at least find a case that looks like a console. No need to worry about upgrades. There are similar cases the size of the Xbox One Slim that one could go with.

I would have gone FX-6300 and a cheaper non-overclocking mobo and the RAM was way to expensive. You can get some nice Corsair Vengeance for $35 so that about equals the amount your mobo and FX-4200 was with a better processor, equal RAM and you don't need to overclock. Then you've really got some power there.

Whenever I see a PC master racer, I just say: " I get it! Okay. I know that the PC is stronger, more flexible and backwards compatible with any PC game of the past, but I don't really care." I do own a PC and I do play games on it (even tho it is really old), but I also own a PS4 and I play it a little bit more than my PC. All I care about is how good the games are: on the PC Minecraft, TF2, Half-Life and on the PS4 Uncharted, COD (most notably MW) and The Last of Us, and many more. All those are great games that I enjoy to play. It doesn't matter if it runs in 4K 60 fps or 1080p 30 fps. All that matters to me are the games themselfes. But I do preffer a controller over a mouse and keyboard. It just feels nice in my hands!

Why do budget builds always recommend Micro ATX boards? My biggest regret after building my first PC was using a micro ATX instead of normal ATX as it really restricted my upgradability later.

Also nvidia is way better for graphics performance, AMD sell 4gb graphics cards in an R7 and only manage to use 1.5GB of vram. Get a GTX 960 2GB model and it will give you 1080P gaming at over 60fps on ultra and will give you no lag but remember this will bottleneck with any AMD cpu so this will only work to its max performance with an Intel CPU

good choice on the quad core,while i kind of prefer intel, you need 4 cores for recent games.

Functioning Wii U emulator is even out now for PC... Much work to be done but it's a proof of concept.

I would definitley not recommend the FX 4200... The thing is riddled with heating issues. You would need a VERY strong aftermarket cooler to keep that thing running cool, and something along the lines of liquid cooling to overclock it to match up with an I5 - Weaker I7. If you can flash the bios of older motherboards to be compatible witht the newer 4300, do so. It runs much cooler, and is clocked to run faster.

does your choice of motherboard effect what cpu processor you buy

If you're going for budget, it's better to get console because: - you WILL be able to play games at the best settings because they are built to be played on consoles, which you definitely can't get with a pic unless you have a good pc. So yeah...

i just cut the $400 budged into $279.79 went with the Intel Pentium G3258,Motherboard - ASUS H81,ADATA RAM,Fractal Design Core 1100 Case,EVGA 500W 80+ PSU.i already have the HDD and a video card at home :)

does it count if you upgraded your old pc $400 ? changed graphics card from a geforce gtx 750 ti to a Geforce gtx 960 ftw 2gb and added ddr2 4gb of extra memory. this was my first pc . the processor duo e8400 @3.00 Ghz .

it's a 3 year old video you can get better parts for 400dls now days. FX8350 with a motherboard for 129.99 ram, RX460-70 for 100-120 dls ssd 120 for 35dls. 1TB for storage 30-40dls - ram 8gig for 30dls or so... if you are on a budget.

But does it play the new Smash Bros.?
