Killer Catfish Bait 

My dad made bait with corn, cornflakes, strawberry jello. When I was about 3 or 4, he was fishing and apparently forgot to feed me breakfast. He turned around and I had eaten all of his bait. I totally remember doing this too & it tasted good.

I live right off the Illinois River in NE Okla. I'll be taking the granddaughter to give this a try soon. Thanks!

This is hands down, one of the coolest ideas I've ever seen. I wish I hadn't bought a bag of walmart catfish bait pellet chunk things. This looks like it works soooooo much better! Definitely going to try this on the Missouri River below the dams.

I can confirm that this works. Made some the exact way he did, shared some with a buddy of mine and he caught a 10 pound channel cat. Thank you for the ingredient man.

i use strawberry koolaid with mine and garlic powder not only catfish like but caught a 7 lb bass on it last year i also use a circle hook tied on a leader usually cut my chunks into 1/3s but i bought a really small crocet hook and put it thru the hotdog then i can string it on the hook just hook the lead and pull it down on the hook and clip leader back on snap swvel i use the good snap swivels enjoy

To me this bait.works WONDERS..I'll tried yesterday saturday and catch me. 13 catfish.up to 4 pounds each..tnx 4 the tip...keep going..u the man

i have tried this same recipie useing shrimp about the size of the hot dog chunks, but i let the shrimp ripen in the sun a bit first before making this bait, results were killer, the upper hudson river gave up a few blue cats that time. great vids, take care.

It works. 35lb blue and 41 pound Santee Dam Manning South Carolina. But replace the hot dogs with chunks of raw boneless chicken breasts. Multiple 40+ Lbers.many thumbs up Fisherman!

Just got a new subscriber sir. I'm working on an AIO (all in one) dry "bait powder" for fishing trips, and cheap baits. I had no clue about the pepper, I knew about the jello, but the spicy powder will be a nice addition. Thanks for the tip. I'll be using it soon.

I'm going to use chicken chunks and hotdogs cut in 1/3, with chicken liver and garlic salt, plus Jello...Jello has Amilo Acid like animal product. (SALMONELLA) Make sure you wash your hands after handling raw chicken. Also, I might try to target for some Red Drum Fish on shrimp at the lakes here in San Antonio, TX! 🐟🎣

Cool vid dude. It works. I used cherry n garlic powder. No peppers tho.today was the 4th time i used it n finnaly hooked a big fat channel cat. Couldn't get him on the dock tho my line snapped as i tried to pull him up about 10ft over the railing. Gotta get me a net dangit. God vid tho bra

I do this same exact thing but I have never used the pepper but I do also throw shrimp and cut bait in the same mixture in a small bucket and shake it up makes the fish hit everything harder

I want to try this some day. I made my own bait mix out of some magic bait dip bait and dough bait mixed together in a cheese cloth. Caught 4 good size cat at the river.

We will have to try this. we use just plain cheap hotdogs and have good luck on jugs.

I've tried this bait and I can attest that its true. I caught 7 in less than 40min in a local pond. Catfish love this bait. Note, If you dont have jello on hand you could use kool aid or powder lemonade it works great.

I've got some deer summer sausage that's probably been in the freezer too long to be good. Might try this recipe with that and a larger treble hook to really go after the big ones. It's injected with cheddar too!

I remembered in 86 Bill Dance used this bait on the Mississippi river using a float 3 liter bottle and 40 inch line connected with hotdogs as bait...he smashed them. By just letting the bottles float freely, from his boat and gathered them an hour later.

Tried it worked great caught some good size cats

Having them set in the fridge, is very important. I use smoked paprika with the Jello and garlic.

Those are the good hot dogs (All Beef) the cheap ones are the Bar S hot dogs. Ingredients unknown (Chicken ,beef,pork,whatever found),excellent video though i have been using this bait for years have some in the garage freezer now.

I know for a fact that cats love hot dogs! And so do the turtles, LOL. I also know that if you can get some shiners, put them in a bucket with a whole bunch of garlic powder, catfish love those also. I don't know what the jello does, but I will certainly try.. thank you very much! And for all the naysayers out there, if you don't believe this s*** that you don't even know how to fish! Me and my dad use hot dogs soaked in strawberry kool aid powder. Works like a charm

Add your hook to it before you put it in to chill in the refrigerator and then they will be hooked and just grab the hook, put it to swivel you got it whipped

Liver tofu is best catfish bait, it attract them like crazy. Buy pint chicken liver and a box soya (dried tofu) on Indian food shelf. Purée liver in blender ( room temperature for 8 hours so it can be runny) then soak it in soya for a hour to absorb liver purée.

I tryed this bait it was in a river and the hot dogs would come off the hook when I cast my line. I was casting pretty far with a 2oz. wight it was hard to tell because it was night time and ever time I bring in my line to check it and see if I had bait the dog was not there.
