Cher is force of nature that has had hit songs in at least 6 decades, and somehow her voice remains instantly recognizable. Moonstruck would be a fabulous movie to review. ✌️
Cher released this song after she won her best actress Oscar for Moonstruck in 1987, written by Michael Bolton and peaking at #10 on the billboard hot 100
Love her song Gypsies, Tramps,& Thieves. The movie Mask have (tissues ready) is wonderful. She is also in the 2nd Mamma Mia movie and has an album of ABBA cover songs.
Cher was dating Rob Camilletti during this time period of the late 80s. He was 18 years younger. Now check out her other song from this album WE ALL SLEEP ALONE.
Amazing thing with Cher is that she became a huge star in the 60's/70's with the Sonny and Cher days...but then she had an amazing resurgence in the 80's where it seemed like every single was just a HUGE hit...and she's been a force ever since. I really want to see you do her song 'Heart of Stone' but only do it if you watch the official video. It's a great song, and an amazingly touching and powerful video that I think you would appreciate.
Cher is the singer who popularized autotune with her song "Believe." The song "Believe" was released by Cher in 1998 and became a massive hit. It showcased the use of autotune, a vocal processing technology that corrects pitch and creates a distinctive robotic effect. The success of "Believe" played a significant role in popularizing autotune and influencing its use in contemporary pop music.
Cher did a lovely job with Believe. However, T-Pain is who brought the use of auto-tune to the masses. He used it to great effect! If you really want to see interesting uses of it, check out auto-tune the news. Auto-tune the news 7 is my personal favorite!
Not sure if it's in the comments but that's Rob Camiletti, her real life boyfriend at the time, in the video. He was labeled "Bagel Boy" because supposedly he was working in a bagel shop or deli when they met. This was some HIGH-80s drama lol, but Cher very publicly with a younger man was a definitely trailblazer, yet again! Also, you guys need to check out her "Take Me Home," one of the classics of the disco era!
You should react to 70's Cher where she had many hits. 'Dark Lady'; 'Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves'; 'Half-Breed'. Her duets with Sonny Bono too from mid to late 60s.
In the mid 70's, when Cher had her own TV show, it had so very many great music performances. The best example is Tina Turner, who had just left Ike, was introduced at the 20 minute mark and for the next 40 minutes these two women just put on a great show. Even as the closing credits rolled, they sang on.
@@The_Dudester Yep , Greg Allman was guest on that show for performing a song after she took up with him and and left Sonny ..It was on you tube a long time ago, maybe it still is..
Cher is the original mother of reinvention. Madonna, Britney, and Gaga came later. She's been in pop culture for almost 7 decades now. She's a fantastic actress as well. I love this woman! Excellent song to listen to!
This is my favorite Cher song. I think her voice sounds phenomenal on the recording. The song is dramatic and captivating. She's just one of those ladies that doesn't seem to age. She's been around forever. There are very few artists that can get to the level she's on. Dolly Parton is another lady that's been around as long as Cher, who also has the music and acting credits. But probably still to a lesser degree. She's really in a class by herself.
Cher's vocals are off the chart. She's a living legend. I also love Dead Ringer For Love with Meatloaf (God rest his Covid-denying little heart, he went too soon). They are fantastic together in that song.
Now you'll have to experience Cher as an actress .... my favorite film with her features Nicholas Cage alongside her in "Moonstruck"! Check it out in your movie reactions, guys!
I last saw Cher live on her "Believe" Tour. That is fantastic, like a Broadway production! The light show and acrobats were amazing. It's great to see her still active. Sadly like all of us, she is getting older and we must appreciate her. We are losing great musicians to retirement and sadly death.
@@seanswinton6242 - So true, Sean! The concert I saw had acrobats, too. May have been the same show, IDK, but the time frame is right. Thanks for sharing this memory with me! ❤️💕❤️
Cher is also a huge fashion queen. She had one of the best designers, Bob Mackie, to work on all her tv shows from The Sonny and Cher show to her own show, The Cher Show. He said she had the perfect body to design anything he wanted to make for her! Her costumes and clothes on those shows were legendary! She was the first woman on television to show her belly button! It was a big deal at the time! Some people were shocked at first! She has gorgeous long dark hair, but also wears a lot of wigs, too. She is part Native American and she has those high cheekbones which flatters her face and allows her to have an exotic look. She and Sonny divorced, but I don’t think they ever stopped loving each other. Years after the divorce, Dave Letterman had both of them on his show and they sang a duet together…brought tears to everyone’s eyes (see RU-vid). When Sonny suddenly died, he was remarried, but she was asked to speak at his funeral (see RU-vid) and she totally broke down and just lost it! Heartbreaking!
This and Jesse James are my 2 fav Cher songs! This is a classic 80s rock power ballad.. Cher will forever be Iconic Totally recommend her movie Mermaids its a fav of mine ive seen it prob 20 plus times!
When I as a kid, Cher was half of Sonny & Cher, from TV. Cute, funny, incredible singer. And then when I was in my 20's, there was Silkwood, and OMG Mask, which I saw in the theater. So So to me, she was suddenly this great actress. Moonstruck sealed it. She's just a legend. I really wanna STRONGLY suggest you guys react to Mask on your movie channel. As teachers, as humans, it will blow you away. I'm not kidding. Find the director's cut. Others will back me up.
I love Cher's voice. Her song Believe is wonderful, but I love the version of Adam Lambert singing it before her at the Kennedy Center Honors. She cries. He does an amazing job and honors her and the song.
This song was the beginning of her umpteenth comeback as pop star in 1987. The single became her first Top Ten in 8 years since "Take Me Home" danced into our lives. This was a great turn of events for the Goddess of Pop considering she started recording songs with more of a rock edge. It's also a cover of the Laura Branigan single which didn't fare well on the charts. I love Cher!
I've been waiting for RSR to react to this song! My fav Cher song. I remember when this came out, I was primarily into hard rock/metal, but I always got just as excited when the song came on. Absolutely love Cher's voice and intensity.
It's simple math: Physical Beauty + Her Sass + That Voice = Cher! Going back to my childhood Cher was an amazing voice that got everyone's attention as it came across the radio ot TV. I remember the variety show she did with Sonny being watched every week. As I grew into a confused teen Cher's promotion of the LGB rights movement and community inspired me to step up and help out...finally finding myself. And all these decades later I still see Cher as one of the top Divas in the latter 20th century music history! Thanks for another wonderful reaction to this icon!
this was from her self titled album Cher, which hands down, relaunched her 80's presence. every song on this album was pure gold. This also helped us enter the age of rock Cher.
Cher is wonderful and I am so pleased you reacted to her today. A couple more artists to consider for a future Female Friday are Jewel doing "Foolish Games" and the very creative Walk Off The Earth doing "Hello" featuring Myles and Isaac! Best to both of you,
I've always liked Cher, especially when she made rockier music like this! So thanks for your reaction! 🙏💛 I have a few suggestions for 'Female Friday': - Birdy: Skinny Love - Birdy: People Help The People - Ashe: Angry Woman - Blondie: One Way Or Another - A Fine Frenzy: Almost Lover - Gracie Abrams: 21 - Gracie Abrams: I Know It Won't Work - Joan Armatrading: Down To Zero - KT Tunstall: Black Horse And The Cherry Tree - Lily Kershaw: As It Seems - Lorde: Royals - Billie Eilish: Everything I Wanted - Mary Lambert: She Keeps Me Warm - Melissa Etheridge: Bring Me Some Water - P!nk: Trustfall - Shawn Colvin: Sunny Came Home - Taylor Swift: All Too Well (preferably the 10 minute version) - Zoe Wees: Control I'd love your reactions!
The song was written by by Michael Bolton. The guy in the vider( Rob “Bagel Boy” Camilletti) was in a relationship with Cher. He was 22 at the time, Cher was 40. Camilletti was an up & coming actor, but his day job was working at a bagel shop. They remain great friends. He's now a pilot flying celebrities in private jets.
Yes, I love Cher, especially her 80's work. This really marked her resurgence in music. She had been working with some Oscar worthy roles in movies, but this 1987 single, and the whole album, was super powerful. I also love "We All Sleep Alone" from the same album.
It’s amazing when I realize I have been listening the Cher since I first got my drivers license ….back in 1963… when she and her husband Sonny first hit as a duo. So, for sixty years I’ve heard that voice.
Saw her show live in Vegas in the mid-90’s…..She is an ENTERTAINER. The costumes, the movement, that BODY, and yeah, her voice has a unique timbre which I’ve never heard from any other female vocalist. One the best of the 20th century for live shows.
Y'all should really watch some Cher movies. "The Witches of Eastwick" and "Mermaids" are two of my favorites that I've seen so far. But you really can't go wrong with any Cher movie, because she chooses her projects very carefully.
Gotta check out “CHER” in: “MASK “ Great movie!! Great story Great acting!! Also Sam Elliot is by in it , you loved him in “Tombstone “and he was the narrator in “The Big Lebowski”.. Sam has a bigger role in “MASK “!! You’ll love it and her performance!! Even better than “Moonstruck “.
So LOVE LOVE Cher. She should be near the top of artists of the last century. Oscar for movies, multiple Grammies, and Emmy's. (Just missing a Tony for the trifecta, but was nominated once.) I(f i can count that was your 9th !! Cher reaction. For the 10th try 70s, Half Breed.
One of my favorite Cher songs is a cover of “Walking In Memphis”. May I also remind you that it’s been a long time since we have visited Beth or Joe. ♥️✌🏼😎
I am part of another music page and I played this song to mark Cher's birthday. Then I come on here and find that at the same time I was posting it you guys were listening to it 😮
She's got some awesome music! For movies, there's three she's been in I really like: Witches of Eastwick, Silkwood, and Mask. Have to check them out as well for movie nights!
The guy in the video is Rob Camelletti, her much younger boyfriend at the time. This song was written by Michael Bolton for Laura Branigan but Cher had a much bigger hit with it. Several people beat me to the punch with my two suggestions that you listen to the song duet with Peter Cetera and Cher as well as you watch some of her movies. I would suggest THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK and MOONSTRUCK. She is fantastic in movies.
That was her then boyfriend who the press dubbed The Bagel Boy because he was much younger & worked in a bagel store. She always marched to her own beat & forged her path once she left Sonny. Love Cher.
I adore this song, it's gorgeous. I just learned it was written for Whitney Houston, but her record company didn't want her to do it, so the husband and wife team recorded it themselves!! It makes me smile always!!! ❤❤❤❤
CHER and ROD STEWART sang a really fun duet in 2003. They sang "Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered" from the 1940 musical "Pal Joey." Frank Sinatra later starred in the 1952 movie.
Love her so much. I'm sure it has been mentioned before but Cher had her own variety show in the 70's. She did medleys of Stevie Wonder with none other then the Osmonds and another with the Jackson Five. Both a must see.
Here's one for you. Cher and Tina Turner singing "Shame, Shame, Shame" (Video from The Cher Show) Cher singing "Fernando" (an Abba song....video from the movie Mama Mia, Here We Go Again)he Cher won an Oscar for her acting in the movie, "Moonstruck". You might want to put that on your movie list.
That's Rob Camiletti in the vid, Cher's real life boyfriend at the time and who she has said was "the one of the great love" of her life. He appears in several of her vids and is by her side at the AcademyAwards show when she one her Oscar for "Moonstruck" (You guys have got to do that film). She met Rob when he was working at a bagel shop she had been frequenting. They certainly made a great looking couple. Would also love for you to do her music vid "Save up all Your Tears"
You guys really need to check out some of Cher's Movies!!!! she won the Oscar for Moonstruck at least check that one out but all of her movies are awesome Mask, Silkwood, Witches of Eastwick, to name a few
Have you guys done a Sonny and Cher reaction? They were married and that was how she started until Sonny died in a skiing accident. Their biggest hit was "I got you babe".
I'm so happy you mentioned her acting! A few of her movies would be great for your Cinema Saturday - Moonstruck, Mask, and The Witches of Eastwick are all amazing!!!
Very nice. You have done some of her best songs. The "Afterall" duet is awesome (as others have mentioned). Ditto on the other recommendations for just about any of her movies. She does a great job as an actress (of course the academy award for best actress) in Moonstruck, adding the recommendation to other Rob Squad Fans here.
