This is not true. Oscar De La Hoya was a great boxer and never had a single streetfight. I remember seeing him talk about avoiding all street confrontations and saying, "I don't fight for free." during his countdown with Mayorga. There are many non-thug successful boxers.
Excellent tips man ! Thanks a lot. I started boxing a few months ago only to help me quit smoking, but now, after watching your video, I wanna fight like a pro. Greetings from Brazil.
thanks for making the selfie guys want to get back to hitting the bag after a traumatic gunshot injury multiple gunshot injury actually that is very very helpful man a box a little when I was a kid but I want to get in shape I'm 38 years old man and you know what happens so I don't know if you know but I know what happens when you get old thanks a lot brother keep doing what you doing very very helpful man🍀 God bless
This guy is a great boxing coach, he's helped me through his videos greatly. Check out my video of me working my heavy bag after trying to incorporate his techniques, he's a boss
got a question any speedbag i can get without drilling a hole into the ceiling i have done muay thai for a while would like to get one of these in case i dont have time to go down to the gym
I hope you watched the whole video, because there is a round where I go full force. Nevertheless going full force with every punch is like going 'all in' with a poker hand. It has potential to pay off big or take you out of the game.
very crisp punching and great technique. There are a lot of videos on YT for hitting the heavy bag but the people hitting it were either holding back or probably just doing cardio boxing. You actually train like a fighter. Subscribed.
Why the fuck every gym in my city has Kick Boxing classes but you have to try SOOO hard to find one with Boxing?? Fucking trends, there's nothing like old school boxing!!!!
yes, once they heal take a towel and fold it up on the floor. Close your fist and balance on one fist sideways as if you are an airplane perpendicular to the ground. Keep your arm straight and hold for a minute. Do both sides. After a few months your wrists should be stronger.
You can train on the bag 6 days a week but I wouldn't recommend going all out everyday. I wouldn't recommend 10 rounds a day either. Build up your rounds slowly and build up your days per week. It all depends on where you are right now.
hey bro, it's 3 minute rounds and 1 minute rest. Either way you can decide for yourself - Amateur 2 min rounds with 1 min rest, or Pro 3 min rounds or 1 min rest.
This is an awesome video man! Variety style rounds is such a good idea didn't think of that! Adding this style to kickboxing as well! Hope you dont mind me stealing the idea to train some of my students! Thanks for the online lesson though!!! haha
Your arm has to have some bend in it when hitting the bag otherwise you have nothing more to penetrate the target. Once you connect if the bag was to suddenly disappear you should be able to move you fist forward about another 2-6 inches. It all depends on whether its just a jab to tag the guy or a power shot that's meant to take him out
that's up to you and something you should try to figure out. Work rate is very important and its what separates the good boxers from the elite boxers. If you are busy you can reasonably sustain a 200 punch round. If you are in amazing condition you can hit upwards of a 300 punch round. But this is with head movement and footwork, not just standing there and throwing punches. Film yourself for a few busy rounds and count your punches. Aim to increase that over time. 3 minute rounds
i have at times had to use a standing bag, you have to try to make it work so I would generally work a similar routine but with slightly lighter and faster punches so the thing doesn't slide all around the floor
These videos you make are very informative. Too many people work the bag for an aerobic exercise, and miss out on training themselves for battle. I have fought many fights in my life. So I watch with a load of experience. You are an outstanding teacher, and thank you for your videos. You are helping people because your tips are easy to understand and more importantly you explain the why of your tactics. Good work
yo gill, my punches are lined up to hit my chin, if i was punching a mirror my fist would hit right on the button, it may not look like it cuz of the angle of the camera. the rest are intentional body shots with maybe a few that are a little low, but who cares really, when you say too low, too low for what? I can guarantee you that when i threw punches in my fights that they didn't miss where i meant to place them.
simon simon you always got a chance just keep at it, stay consistent, it's easy to wanna be the best one day but it's a hell lot harder to wanna be the best every single day so strive every day to be the best and you'll succeed
You can circle around both ways. During a fight, you'll see that it's more natural to circle to your left, but many coaches say you should never circle towards your opponent's strong hand (his right) and so there's conflicting advice. For training purposes, I'd say it's a good idea to go both ways. A standard round is 3 minutes.
What are you talking about? Oscar De La Hoya was born in East Los Angeles. He wasn't known to be an outwardly violent individual or participate in street fights. Nice kid, walked a straight line, stayed away from gangs and drugs and all that.
Would a good basketball player beat a good football player? It depends on the context. And why does it matter? You should train in whatever fighting art you like.
+mitsos papadopoulos Anybody can look impressive on a heavy bag. Not sure what weight this guy fought at. but im pretty sure Mayweather would come out on top if they fought a regular amateur bout.
+Zakariia nobody said this guy could beat Mayweather! Mayweather pound for pound best boxer in the world so why would anyone be saying this guy could beat him. This guy it's teaching people boxing techniques for guys that might not be able to attend a boxing gym. Your comment was ridiculous. Give yourself a slap.
Very good man, it's all about pacing man just pick some one you know that can't box well or some one green, try to spar with him you will find your self not getting tired at all. Good luck and do more cardio workouts !
Absolutely. This is heavy cardio-training which will not only help you to lose fat, but also improve your general shape and your mobility. Give it a try.
a good jab is gonna come from lots of repetition, 1000 jabs per workout at least. bend in your knees and weight on the back foot before your drive forward.
Hey JT just a heads up been following "all" the videos and they are very helpful! I can tell your passionate about your profession and really enjoy teaching people about this great sport. Keep it up cause we need POSITIVE VIDEOS like these and less of the other negative things that go on the Tube.
I was always taught that the bag should move very little, if at all, if it's struck correctly. I mean you look like you know your shit, but that's how I was trained.
I know, and I did say he looks well versed in what he's doing. I'm just stating my experience as being trained by someone who has been boxing and kickboxing for nearly 20 years.
Bro I am a very very quick person , do everything very quick and professionally ! I can't take weaklings ! I love driven people , men and women ! And only good ones who from outside to inside !
yo jt ima big fan of yours btw do u have any playlist? I practice boxing everyday, and have tried many diffrent playlist still would like to listen to one created by a real boxer. plz dont tell me its is up to my preferences i really want to listen to your music.
SHeeit man. I just started training at home on the heavy bag. This looks insane to me. Really quick hands and feet. Keep up the good work. I'll try slow your routine for myself for now. I don't really have a clue what I'm doing by myself and no training so this helps me out a lot .
