That Goldeneye theme goes hard, Conker was the king and the entire OST to Killer Instinct 👌 Not in a million years could anything come as close to heart as the N64
*IS IT MY NOSTALGIA FOR THIS TIME PERIOD OR DO THEY JUST NOT MAKE GAMES THIS GOOD ANYMORE??? I REMEMBER US KIDS WAITING IN LINE AT THE ARCADE TO PLAY THIS...PLACING QUARTERS IN ROW TO SAVE YOUR PLACE!!! LOL* I mean comparing it for the game it was of its day, I feel there's no competition.
The N64 was so flipping awesome! I still remember buying mine on import, killer Instinct gold was so polished, its a shame they never included the moving victory poses from KI 1 on Gold, I always remember seeing some guy in the arcades using Thunder and he was proper whipping ass then Thunders victory pose came up with him crossing his chest with 2 fecking great axes that sent awesomeness shivers down my spine and I knew then and there I can't wait any longer for an Ultra 64 😁actually come to think of it the Ultra 64 was the last console that ever made me truly excited for a gaming machine, pretty sad that recent systems since have been dull as dish water.
I remember calling the Nintendo hotline at my job 😅 to learn more about the specs! Making a jump from 16bit to 64bit was mind blowing. I miss the old days.
I never managed to make the combos and stuff on this game...But I have beaten the master difficulty by pressing all de C buttons and directions like crazy, sometimes I could make and Ultra combo, it was fun as hell, but my arms would end aching a lot hahahahahaha
As a kid I always wondered why the arcade version (KI 2) looked so much better. Way more frames of animation (compare the char select screens esp but also during gameplay, for example when a char is knocked in the air they can never land on their head because those frames of animation are gone for cart space), no FMV's etc. Then later learn the arcade machine used a ~10 GB HDD and hardware more powerful than the N64 ended up being. So obviously they did the best they could converting that to a N64 cart (the biggest limitation). Also, fun fact. KI 1 and 2 arcade backgrounds are basically FMV's that adjust frame by frame as you move. So converting them to 3D was kind of required to save space. Overall not a bad port by any means, but with the N64 being a new system at the time I was hoping to finally have true "arcade quality" at home. But it just wasn't *quite* there yet. But there has been perfectly working emulation of the KI 1 and 2 arcade machines for a long time now (and the official releases on Xbox One).
KI2 does not use 10GB HDD, but Seagate Marathon ST9420AG 420.8MB one. If there is a different one in people's machine, it means someone replaced the original one.
KI2 used 2D backgrounds with some pre-rendered animations. KI Gold used actual 3D backgrounds and is graphically superior to KI2. But due to cartridge limitations, the had to remove character animations and lower the resolution of the characters. If the N64 was CD based, Gold would look better on 2 everywhere. It wasn't the actual N64 hardware that held the game back.
@Your Mom's Creepy Uncle til this day I still prefer the arcade than N64 version! I think rare messed up when they created KI for the snes and same goes for this one, what a disaster! The only true arcade ports is xbox one and mame!
Err, doubt it. Loading times for fighters were rough in those days and CD consoles still struggled porting Neo Geo. Even Neo Geo CD itself failed miserably. CD wasn’t perfected and what I love about this game is your playing it seconds after turning on console. If N64 was CD you would have a crappy arcade port plagued with loading times like most fighters then. CD consoles struggled with UMK3. KI cd would have been a nightmare. CD critics ignore that Sony pushed out unproven faulty tech and Sega charged a lot for Sega CD and Saturn. Saturn was $400 at launch. Needed Ram exspansion for any good ports. Nom of which had the level of FMV required in arcade KI. Think about it
I enjoyed the play through! Short combos to reduce combo breakers and baiting them with weak uppercuts was clutch. Good timing with teleports and punishments. Enjoyed the back and forth attacks and blocks with Tusk. Glacius got pissed at you with those throws. I wanted to clown you for cheesing ground lasers on Combo, but then I cheesed everyone into jump attacks by ducking years ago. Shocked Gargos missed two opportunities to heal. You did good against your clone battle. Thanks for uploading!
Thanks. Most people don't even mention the gameplay and just talk about nostalgia (which is fine), so your comment was quite different. I pretty much had to do that to Combo because the Cyberdash opener just wasn't working too well. I actually meant to do super linkers but forgot. Overall I was pretty happy with the footage though.
0:00 - This is the very 1st N64 Game I played on Christmas Day. When I saw that N64 Logo from the commercial, I knew I was hype. I got the game as I'm writing this down.
This game is seriously great in terms of gameplay and design I don’t understand why there isn’t any new game out expect of the one from 2013 there should be a series of it just like MK, SF or Tekken it is just as good as any of them maybe even better.
Oh, I've beaten Tevin (Pam's son) was then 5 turned 6 years old at the time in the Year 2000. WASN'T READY for the BIG Dogs like a 10 year old Kid kicking ass in Fighting Games.
Love this game but they screwed up by taking away the announcer call out the combos. I wanna hear HYPER COMBO, BLASTER COMBO, AWESOME COMBO. that made that game different and dope at the same time.
So whack that they took away calling out the combos, that what made the game so ill. Awesome combo, hyper combo, brutal combo. They fuck up with this joint
How come the first game was never ported to N64? that would have been the best release as it would have been as close to the arcade version as possible
My only complaint with this game would be the inputs. The quarter circle but being angle down angle were awkward to do without the arcade. The port on rare replay doesn't work very well either I was sad =/ I can execute the hardest of Fulgore combo's in KI2 arcade Ki1 arcade and snes along with KI Xb1 but the rare replay, I couldn't even get his standard specials to come out half the time.
glad to know I wasn't the only one, I bought a 64 not too long ago with the game included and its difficult for the game to read the moves, even on the arcade stick
My dad bought me an N64 with Super Mario 64, 007 Goldeneye, Dark Rift and later KI Gold when i was 6 years old. I have KI Xb1 with KI1 aecade & KI2 arcade because i purchased KI The Complete Edition.
