The Innovative MotorWorks STOCK SHORT BLOCK k20 Civic with its old school 67mm turbo is out hurting feeling again. Watch as it takes on a Blown C6 Vette, Big Single Supra, GT500, Big Turbo Bmw, Lambo Huracan, & more!
For all you keyboard warriors bashing the little Honda that could, the car is no joke. I have the C6 in the video which made 760 whpr on its best day - stock LS2, ECS/Paxton 1500 supercharger, headers and exhaust. Derek's Honda was faster - E.T. doesn't matter at these events, MPH does. The inside car sets the pace for the drive to the starting line. You are supposed to hit the line at 60 mph, +\- 5 mph in order for it to be a qualifying run. As for our race, I thought we were aiming for 60. Derek was aiming for 65 and I didn't get the memo. He had a couple of lengths on the moments leading to the line and I tried close the gap last second and stay under 65 mph but couldn't. I hit the line after him but a few mph faster, maybe 5 mph (I would have to find the timeslip). He pulled away at about the 1200 foot mark. He crossed the line before I did. My ET was better, his MPH was higher and that is all that matters at these events. Derek is to be commended for building and tuning a setup that really works. Great job. Looking forward to the next time I get to be made Internet famous getting beat by a Honda.....
Whether its american, european, japanese, dropped, turboed, stanced, riced, supercharged etc. They're all part of the car community. Quit your childish shit.
Damn, hard to believe how well these K20s handle the boost! Almost 170mph the last pass... Impressive. Even the Honda haters will have to bite their tongues here.
Yea true, but its also just hate from how many civics used to be "rice". I mean since there were so many more hondas and especially civics in the 90's when the import popularity was growing so fast, they stuck out and stuck in peoples mind. And it was "cool" to have crazy body kits with huge wings and stickers with 19" rims and under lighting back then. Oh and I cant forget how so many uneducated honda owners back then (and still some today) thought/think that they have a fast car just because it had vtec lol. Thats really what gave them such a bad rap. And as you mentioned, if they dont have the correct tires then they usually wanna go from a roll race (however this is with all fwd higher hp cars). Sorry for the long ass rant lol, I just kept thinking of all the things that have given hondas a bad rap. I do wanna add that as this vid shows, a well built civic or intergra etc. can be a very potent machine. I prefer most hondas on a road course where imo they really shine but to each his own. Ok im finished with my book lol. PS I have love for 4cyl to W16 and anything in between. Peace
Yeah I would love to see a 700whp fwd civic on a road course...to see it wreck around the first corner. Outside of roll racing fwd is basically useless at these power levels. The turbos lag on the street and you have to run slicks just to get them to go off the line and they torque steer like crazy. A nice 300-400whp civic is just right. Especially in hatch form. But at 700whp it's useless on any road course unless it has very long straights. Just being honest and like all cars as I am an enthusiast and respect clean builds minus the huge wings and body kits. K20's are workhorse mill and I am slowly but sure starting to like them as much asmy beloved nostalgic b-series motors.
+Kyle Lovejoy wrong... Check out the civic chernobyl.. K24 700hp and not just Tuned for the drag strip.. It possible to have a civic with that kind of power for the track and road.. You just need a lot of money and taking your time to find a good set up...
+Dejan Ilic The difference is on a basically stock Civic, which most were/are, especially in the 90s, there is no need except to "sound cool". The Supra on the other hand, when heavily boosted, NEEDS the less restrictive system.
+Adrizz5447 gets more pussy? thats cool last time i checked they were there to race lmao. what's up with people making excused on behalf of supercar owners?
+Adrizz5447 agreed.. i rather have that lambo than that honda. good for the Honda beating a stock lambo. now build that lambo and the honda will get its ass handled.
I must admit I still find it pretty astonishing that it ONLY has new valve springs on a stock block and able to make 700whp, that is something special lmao.... Fuck'n love japan for their capable engineering
Wth is a N54 tho? But im sure some bigger displacement blocks are capable of going beyond for sure. But doubt there's many 700whp 2 liter blocks that will handle this reliable and sound healthy as can be Is it a beamer engine?
But on the real, if there would be any non JDM engines that COULD handle this reliably and healthy, would the BMW definetly. But maintenance costs are out the roof :P
Think about it. A stock k20 with upgraded valve springs, a 2l inline 4 beating all of these inline 6 and v8s you gotta admit that this is good engineering
Yes the civic is a light car and it definitely helps to put money into building a fast one. But you also have to acknowledge the fact that Honda engines are truly something special, these engines respond to boost in a way most other engines can only dream of. These power plants have more Formula one technology designed into them than most people will ever realize.
I like it, and I'm an American Muscle guy. People that hate on it doesn't appreciate horsepower, in fact the probably hate every other car except their own.
+Stuntihn MX For sure, but it will decrease reliability a lot tho :P In my opinion, 12-13k would kill any motor pretty quick i presume eventho theres a k20 buggy out there revving to 12k i believe, and it sounded haelthy as can be
U are a dumbass if u think this setup costs 15k, do you know how much time and money it takes to build a car like this? Just that engine is probably 15k in parts, now imagine the tranny, chassis, suspension, fabricating, forced induction and tuning, 15k? Try again bud
@@jaygarcia6388 you can yeah but if you want reliability with it. You can turbo the k20z3 to 15psi and make a shit load of power but it wont last very long at all
+Angela Cantrell Not really :P If you compare times, the civic all out pass @ 8,4 secs @ 169 MPH... While the E30 was at 9 secs @ 161mph. But its fast yeah, sure as hell
K series engines have a lot of potential once its properly tuned. You could extract a lot of power out of this K beast. Imagine not even K20/24 frankie
+tritun1999 Well, technically the turbo is a muffler. That's why cars like the SRT4 Neon and the Alfa 4C can come out of the factory with straight pipe.
Say what you want about Civics or Honda as a whole, Honda has and always will be a major part of tuner culture and the B/K-series motors are some of the best motors ever created. Just like BMW's S52/S54's, Chevy's LS v8's, Toyota's 2jz's, Nissan's SR20's/RB26's, Mitsubishi's 4g63t's.... Each and every one of these engines have found their way into cars that don't even share the same badge, much less the country of origin..K20 dropped in an e30? Yup. LS3 dropped in an Evo? Yup. 4g63 dropped in a Civic? Yup... Point is, celebrate power. It comes in all forms and I love it! And again, as some many have said before, power to weight ratio... I mean c'mon, we've all seen what a little power does to a light ass MK1/MK2 VW GTi lol.....go go gadget.......the question is though, if this vid was showing, say, a Corolla FX16 or Dodge Omni GLH smoking those heavyweights, and not the Civic, would there be shade thrown at Toyota or Dodge for being econo boxes that just so happens to be fast af??? Who knows! What I do know is, Honda is not the new kid on the block and you might not like them and that's okay but one thing is for certain, someone in your city, town, island has a Honda that will show you its tail lights when you line up with it. Facts... Jus saying.
+elr2141979 But it can be build for 20k lol. 2k for a turbo setup. block work. perhaps 4k, car 1k.. Suspension setup unless its stock, perhaps another 1k. Drag Radials 500? Transmission work? 1-2k Im surely missing something. But it doesnt get to 20k all that fast yo
See this goes to show you how much of a factor weight is when racing. That model civic is like what...3k at the most? I could be off a few hundred lbs or so but even 500 the the wheels on something that's 3k lbs is pretty fast for real... Impressive little car no doubt!
Honda civic baby. I have a 2008 Honda civic si with k 20 never raced before. I haven't put nothing in it but its fun though because people try to prove themselves everytime they go by me any who I didn't get my car to race but if it's just as fast as yours man I got a fast car.
Well take precautions and get a manual lol, nah but get a battery quick disconnect and a hidden fuel pump switch and a detachable steering wheel and they aren't going anywhere with that car haha, plus leave it in gear so that if they try to tow it then it skids
Question: What were the rules for this race? Enter the cones at a set speed and at the same time, then fastest speed wins, and et has nothing to do with it? Also: What transmission are you running in that?
