I heard a woman screaming one night when I was in my garage. I'd actually been sharpening some tools so grabbed my phone and my knife. Some guy was dragging this woman across her lawn and, unknown to me at the time, had already killed their pet. I yelled out, he looked up and realized it wasn't just me... But 2 other neighbors who had come to investigate. 2 of us armed and 1 already on the phone with police. I'll never understand how people can hear something like that and just ignore it. Shout out to my fellow neighbors who backed me up ✊️ you guys some real ones

I called the police when i heard what sounded like a woman being murdered and someone laughing in between screams in the park behind my apartment complex. That park has a steep drop off that views the city and is a popular place for car dates. The police came and investigated and it turns out it was just some teens practicing their "horror movie screams" for tik tok. I have no regrets. The girls were fine. It is the most unnerving thing to hear someone crying for help. Happened to me late one night when I was lying in bed reading. I could hear noises from the large vacant allotment next door and I thought people might be having a party. Then the words penetrated. I just heard, "Help me, help me," a couple of times. I phoned the police and they did come around, walked all around the allotment and streets, but didn't see anything. Still worries me, but I don't have any regrets either.

Two times I called cops for a woman screaming from the direction of a house nearby, one time saying something like " no, please". Nothing came of either. Cops just didn't seem to know what to think of it or care. I won't call again unless I know it's really serious, because they just assume you're nuts or a problem caller yourself if it's not still happening. As if murders or abuse or whatever always takes longer than ten minutes. That might be why people don't call. Nobody actually treats it like "better safe than sorry".

All of these comments about neighbors coming to the rescue of screaming people reminds me of the time I got trapped in my backyard shed one Texas summer and screamed for help for 2 hours. Fearing I would die from the heat, I eventually managed to break a small window and climb out, seriously injuring myself in the process. Later when retelling the story to multiple neighbors, they all said they heard me and they had all been texting each other "do you hear that? Is someone outside yelling for help?", but not one of them came out of their house to investigate.

My sister came close to losing her life one night when she was beaten nearly to death by her ex boyfriend. She told me so many times she thought "someone is coming, someone must have heard me screaming they're comeing" but no one did. Because no one called the police. In the apartment there was broke furniture and blood everywhere which was shocking but what was really shocking was the broken sprinkler and rose bush pulled from the roots on the lawn. I asked her and she said at one point she made it outside and tried to run screaming for help but he caught her and dragged her inside so she grabbed whatever she could hold onto to stop him screaming at the top of her lungs. Then the complex issued an eviction notice because neighbors " heard the commotion and feared for their lives". But not enough to call the police and save my sister apparently. By the grace of God she survived and called me in the morning and we got her out of there and him arrested. But when I tell you walking through that felt like walking into a murder scene, I could see the splatter patterns on the walls and the blood on the objects he hit her with like something out of a movie, I'll never forget that feeling of almost losing my sister. And I will NEVER mind my own business again.

The fact that the neighbor didn’t call police is absolutely unreal. *Edit* I absolutely understand the argument from the other side about her not calling and I think it’s an interesting conversation. With that said, this seemed to be much more noise and prolonged screams than a simple question of wether it was some kids or not. I think in any case, even if doubt creeps in, you always fall on the side of being cautious and calling it in. Embarrassment about calling in something that turned out to be business as usual is better than someone possibly dead or injured.

One time, when I was sleeping at my girlfriend's place, screams woke me up in the middle of the night at around 4AM. They emerged from the courtyard.. so I got up to look out of the window, when I heard someone else shout "shut up or I'll call the police", and she responded, screaming "yes, please call them!".. I looked out, looking down from the 5th floor, and saw a woman on the ground in what seemed to be a night gown.. and two stories above a window was open.. I guess she must somehow have fallen out of the window and hit the top a wall on her way down. I grabbed my phone to call the police, but it didn't take long for people to come out of the building to rush to help.. or to watch, and not long after police and an ambulance arrived to take care of her. It was such a shocking experience, and I'll never forget the initial reaction of someone shouting "shut up!".

Yes. It's extremely vital to run the fuck away from people showing severe signs of paranoia or schizophrenia, because at that point you're usually on the cusp of losing everything that made the person you knew who they were, and they and anyone around them will just be in danger. You literally cannot predict or adequately control the behaviors of someone developing schizophrenia, and no one is in the wrong for trying to get out early while you can still say goodbye to a friend or loved one while they're still mentally present enough to at least partially empathize and comprehend your reasoning. Realistically, no one wants to let go early enough, and there's always a bit of risk people put themselves through for others they care about, but it's definitely scary. So my mom run up to him and tried to pull his arm holding the knife away, but due to weight difference she just ended up kind of hanging from his arm. 🫚THE GOSPEL OF THE WORD OF ALMIGHTY GOD "the last age in which God saves man from the imminent destruction of this old world" ("The root of man's opposition to God is his evil caused by Satan. Because Satan has corrupted him, man's conscience is numb, he is immoral, his thoughts are corrupted, and he has a backward mind. After Satan corrupted people, their former sanity, former conscience, and character were dulled too much and destroyed by Satan. Man lost his sense, his disposition became like that of a wild animal and his rebellion against God became more frequent and more intense. What things are contained in Satan's nature? For example, Why do you become selfish?" Why are you so happy to accept those unreasonable things? Why do you love those evils so much? What is the root of your love for these things? Where do they come from? What Satan's poison is can best be expressed with words. For example, if you ask the wrongdoer: 'Why do you do that? They will answer: 'Every man for himself and the devil took the last.' This one phrase reveals the root of the problem: Satan's logic has become people's lives, even what they do for themselves. This poison becomes the life and foundation of man, it exists in his body; humanity that was made evil continued to be dominated by it for thousands of years. And what Satan does is for himself. He wants to surpass God, be free and have God's power, and possess all of His creations, then, man's nature is Satan's nature.) Almighty God said "The KEY of man's OPPOSITION AGAINST GOD is his EVIL CAUSED by SATAN. Because SATAN has CORRUPTED him, man's CONSCIENCE is NUMBLE, he is IMMORAL, his ATTITUDES are BAD, and he has a BACKWARD thinking. Before Satan brought him down, he obeyed God and obeyed His words. He is NATURALLY SANE and has a CLEAR CONSCIENCE, and his PERSONALITY is NORMAL. 🛑 After SATAN CORRUPTED people, his former SENSE, former CONSCIENCE, and HUMANITY were too DULL and DESTROYED by SATAN. 😪 So, he LOST his OBEDIENCE and LOVE for GOD. MAN LOST his SENSE, his DISPOSITION became LIKE a WILD ANIMAL and his REBELLION against God became MORE FREQUENT and SEVERE. 😪 But people still don't know or even recognize it, and just fight and rebel blindly." "At the TIME, when the WORD of GOD has NOT been ALIVE to MAN, SATAN'S NATURE HOLDS and DOMINATES people. What--what THINGS are INSIDE SATAN'S NATURE? For example, WHY are you being SELFISH?" WHY do you need to PROTECT your STATUS in LIFE? WHY do you get so EMOTIONAL? WHY are you SO HAPPY to ACCEPT those illogical things? WHY do you love those EVIL things? WHAT is the ROOT of your LOVE for these THINGS? WHERE do they COME FROM? By now you all understand that this is because of the content of SATAN'S POISON. 😪☀️ WHAT SATAN'S POISON is CAN be EXPRESSED with WORDS. For example, if you ASK the DOER: 'WHY are you DOING that?' They will answer: 'Every MAN for HIMSELF and the DEVIL TOOK the LAST.' This one phrase reveals the ROOT of the PROBLEM: SATAN'S LOGIC has become the LIFE of PEOPLE, no matter what they DO just for THEMSELVES. 😪😪 Everyone THINKS that 'Every man thinks only of himself and not of the welfare of others,' is the life and the philosophy of man, and it also represents the nature of man. 😪 'EVERY MAN for HIMSELF and the DEMON TOOK THE LAST.' This STATEMENT by SATAN is DEFINITELY POISON and when a MAN receives it, his entire personality is definitely affected. SATAN'S NATURE is EXPOSED in this REVELATION; this is his whole PERSON. This POISON becomes the LIFE and FOUNDATION of MAN, it EXISTS in his BODY; humanity MADE EVIL has CONTINUOUSLY been dominated by it for THOUSANDS--THOUSANDS of YEARS. 😪 And EVERYTHING SATAN DOES is for HIMSELF. He wants to OVERCOME GOD, be FREE and HAVE GOD'S POWER, and HAVE ALL of His CREATIONS, therefore, MAN'S NATURE is SATAN'S NATURE." 😪🙏 From "The Word Appears in the Flesh" Fulfillment of (John 1:1) and (Ezekiel 2:9-10), (Revelation 19:9,13) 📥Calling and leading everyone to His lowered Kingdom or Church because it is still standing on earth in the holy place in the air/ youtube "THE CHURCH OF ALMIGHTY GOD 💐 this is the fulfillment of what He said to Peter 2,000 years ago, recorded in (Matthew 16:18'19). This is the the only Church of each one of our spirit that we must listen to or eat and drink like how we eat, dress and sleep every day so that He can guide us and change us by rejecting the evil attached by Satan so as to be perfect, having attained eternal life that will enter the coming replacement of the New Heaven and New Earth. 📩 Note📩 Almighty God said, Life in the Kingdom is the life of people and God Himself. Humanity depends on My care and precaution, and all are engaged in fighting the great red dragon to the death. In order to win this last battle, and to end the great red dragon, all people must offer Me their entire being, for My Kingdom. When I say "KINGDOM", I mean it is the life lived under the protection of divinity, where all humanity I constantly guide, I teach directly, so that the life of all humanity, although in world is as if it were in heaven, the true spirit of life in the third heaven . 🙏

The psych units that do exist are often financially insolvent, and kept open by hospitals as a community service. Everyone wants better mental health care…but no one wants to pay for it. Our small unit had 3 nurses who did nothing but fight with insurance companies for payment. Just go to any inner city and you can clearly find many people with far more debilitating neuropsych issues, left to the streets. When I was a young kid, I saw my neighbor laying in their yard not moving. I was only eleven or twelve, so I was afraid to go out there and check on him. So I called 911. The cops arrived for a wellness check and he got out and laughed, I think he was just stretching or relaxing. For a long time I've felt bad about it and cringed at myself for not checking on him first, but now I'm glad that I at least did something just in case.

I was in DV relationship made to move from NC to Ohio being abused daily even while going through breast cancer. One night I heard screaming outside I threw on some pants ran outside a lady was in her yard screaming crying. We saw police coming. She thanked me because I was the only one to come outside to help. I ran to neighbors when my abuser hit me and took my phone and left. I asked them just to call 911. They refused saying they weren't getting involved. I woke up one morning & saw a nude woman out in front of my condo door. I ran out & tried to untie her. It was not until I went out that anyone else came. They had seen, but made no move to help her until I went out. The first thing she said after I got her head & mouth free was, "my baby, my baby.". I ran to her condo & got her baby, not even thinking that the rapist might still be in there & all I had on was a thin summer nightgown. Only looking back did I realize it was a dangerous situation. When I got back with the baby, my neighbors had her in their home & covered with a sheet. These situations are confusing at the time they are happening. To me it all happened in slow motion. But my neighbors said I was moving faster than they thought anyone could. Adrenaline I guess.

I live in a huge apartment complex. A few months ago, at around 3:45 a.m., I heard someone yelling several times, "Help me." At first, I thought my husband had his computer too loud but realized he had the volume turned down. I realized it was a neighbor who lived 1/8 of a block away from our apartment building in the same complex. She was yelling for help for about 5 minutes before I ran over to help her. Not one of the many neighbors who could hear her in the middle of the night called for help. That is messed up. Thank goodness she ended up being okay.

It blows my mind that people are so okay with not doing anything. One of the craziest coincidences in my life came out of me overhearing a woman screaming in an apartment parking lot. Back then, I was stupid and didn't call the cops at first, either. However, I did go outside and look around to see what was going on, and I saw this dude trying to drag a woman kicking and screaming into an apartment. So, I yelled, "hey what you doing? Hey lady, are you okay?" When she looked at me, I recognized her. She used to ride my bus and was the little sister of one of my friends back in high school! Which I lived 30 miles from where I went to school at that point. I don't think she recognized me, but she looked so much like her sister Brandy. Anyway. She certainly needed help and I obliged. Which got me stabbed well slashed with a GD big ole Kitchen Knife. Luckily, I was holding her purse for her and mostly blocked the dudes arm with it, and he dropped it. I got one good punch in to him before he ran back to his apartment to grab another knife, but we had got into my place and called the cops at that point. So I guess my point is. Call the cops if you hear someone screaming. Use some common sense, and don't try to be the hero, because you can just end up getting yourself hurt. I mean, judge for yourself, if it is absolutely dire and requires you to step up. Do so, but do so knowing the potential consequences. Oh, and watch out in domestic abuse cases, sometimes the woman will go from being beaten up by the man to attacking you for helping her. So Call THE COPS. It's better safe than sorry. I hope the lady who did nothing at all loses tons of sleep at night. The simplicity of a call could have changed everything. BTW My Friends sister is now married with 2 lovely kids and we keep in tough to this day. It's okay for us to care about the safety of strangers. No matter what anyone tells you.

If it was the screams of your mother I'm sure they would have called, but if you screamed all the time and you got punished all the time it's just par for the course Don't take it so personally, you're not that important and internalizing that will make your life allot more pleasant

That cop tried helping a "bro" out instead of backing up his own teammate (the woman officer). His actions could've really backfired in a different case if the murderer was smarter. And they say men "aren't emotional". He let his ego almost get in the way of an investigation.🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Also, that male detective tried talking over the female detective when she was clearly better at getting to the murderer's feelings. He should have let her take over to get info out of him. Instead he tried copying her method and clearly failed. Ofc he was gonna fail, he's a man. Women are just naturally better at bringing out the emotions of people because they aren't as much of a physical threat as men. These men's focus wasnt even on their job for some of the tasks, it was to "sit" the women down for NO reason. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Each gender has its strength, had the men cooperated w the women, it would've brought the best outcome. Luckily everything came out good enough. Not to be petty but..... Men. ☕️ 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤷‍♀️

And I assure you, they knew. The apartment housing we lived in was nicknamed 'cardboard city' for a reason. Not only that, but when my older brother and I finally got the courage to run to the downstairs neighbor to borrow the phone (before cell phones, and we didn't have a phone), we could hear *everything* happening upstairs. I'm 42, and I still haven't forgiven a single one of them. And I will always help or call for help when I suspect there even might be abuse going on.
