This can be a super painful fight. The old method took 7 hours, the new one 3, but who knows how much impact RNG had - but Red Death is worth it. Just really sad MissingNo is not a thing anymore:/ Congrats on the win!

That chest you opened expecting to get an evolved weapon must have dropped from an elite that spawned before the 10min mark. The game checks if a chest can evolve a weapon at the moment the enemy that carries it is spawned, not when you kill it or when you pick it up.

You are a fantastic beast at this game! Thank you for all your help and info on this game. I am a despicably old man but I fell in love with this game from watching my grandsons play it and I finally just beat the library (easy for you but my fingers just don’t go very fast). (Also I have all the time in the world so it took literally hundreds of tries and several Aleve for my arthritic fingers). It is thanks to your content and hints. I made a little poster (with my ending level and accomplishments) for my grandsons to see so I could brag and hopefully make them be jealous. I only got to 98 level so I hope to maybe improve that but I am so happy that I actually beat a level on any game! I also managed to do it before my grandsons did it too. I've watched several runs of this game and this is the first time I realized the starting enemies in the library are not giant stone faces, but are actually like mud monsters with their arms above their heads

there's still more characters for you to unlock. 1 of them is unlocked by killing 3000 of a specific mob on the green acre map. it fires cherry bombs

In the .2.13a version, witch is supposed to drop between today and tomorrow the tome buff will apply instantly meaning, you won't have to worry about the order in witch you level up your Runetracer. This also means, that spellbinder and the tome will be applied to your lance in full, witch will throw of the freeze timing. Death is definitely still beatable, with this method. I just did it in the already released beta using both tome and spellcaster. I also got tiragisu, spinach and bones though, witch helped a lot.

There is a much easier way to do this if anyone else has trouble doing it this way like me!! Just go into the game files and change the base damage of y our garlic to like 1 million and bam you kill death in one second!!! I know its cheating but damn its such a pain in the ass trying it this way i failed at it and gave up and just cheated lol!!

As of today, if you're playing on beta build, the empty tome bug no longer applies. You can now live without fear of RNGsus leveling your stuff in the wrong order

15:40 Probably a chest from a boss killed before minute 10. The game doesn't give you evolved weapons before minute 10, obviously, but I think it's intrinsic to the chest, not the timer

Hmm, if level 3 tome is all you need... you can just ban it after level 3 in the new update and play regular to get to this point :)

I dont understand how people do this, ive tried many times and every time it fucks up to the experience gems being picked up. The enemies get too close and drop experience gem next to the character and its picked up.

Dude, i got it by attempt number 3, and you did it really badly, lmao. The bug on the tome makes it so it's effects only apply to a weapon, after the weapon in question has been upgraded... per tome upgrade, which means, you need to upgrade the Clock Lancet to max FIRST (So it remains permanently un-altered by the tome's effects), then upgrade TOME to max BEFORE any of your OTHER weapons are maxed out, and THEN you can upgrade whatever to max. Your clock lancet + laurel will give you enough time to go to get the chests you need to evolve weapons, so don't worry about that. You also need to evolve your weapons, which means you have to be WAY smarter with your choice of trinkets... Runetracer and Laurel are the only weapons you'll have that don't evolve, so you only have 2 free-choice trinket spaces... And tbvh, you don't need the trinket that gives you revives, planning for death, is a recipe for failure, just buy the revive upgrade in the main menu, and that'll be that... Truth be told, you don't need revives, at all... After every time you level up you have an invincibility period, you're supposed to make use of that to make your way to the red gem... But that ONE revive from the upgrade menu just gives you a bit of extra tolerance, is all. All this being said, turns out, you don't even NEED the tome upgrade, i fked up my third run, and absentmindedly forgot to get the tome... That run, i actually succeeded in killing the reaper, lol... So, it turns out, you don't need the tome, it's optional, which HUGELY simplifies this challenge. The idea is to just trap the reaper, inside a zone of insane damage spam, the higher the tick-rate of the damage, the better. If the reaper isn't dead by the time the next reaper spawns, you should restart the run... if there are two reapers on your screen, consider your goose cooked. xD Suggested weapons: Thousand Edge (Knife evolution, requires Bracer) Holy Wand (Magic Wand evolution, requires Tome) La Borra (Santa Water evolution, requires Attractorb) (You start with this weapon as Clerici, so attractorb is basically a must-have, otherwise you've essentially wasted a weapon slot, and la-borra's zones can stack their tickrates ontop of your character, where the reaper is, rendered especially effective by Bracer & Spellbinder) Main DPS however, is always Runetracer's Tickrate damage, do what you've done for the last 30 minutes to maximize it's dps on the reaper... You might need Candelabrador for that, however, Candelabrador is non-essential for this build, just keep that in mind, as long as you can trap the projectiles in an itty-bitty space where they hit the reaper, you're fine... Duplicator is also a good item to increase damage significantly by adding 2 extra projectiles, and Spellbinder is good for increasing Runetracer projectile lifespans. (Works the same way on La Borra, btw) And there you have the full ideal build.

Even better, easier and way funner than waiting while doing nothing and it's on the same map. Here's what I did, Just pick Dommario as your character then get Laurel, Magic Wand, Clock Lancet, Runetracer and garlic. Max everything and unlock the evolution of each and voilà. That's how I did it and now I have the Grim Reaper. Oh also I almost forgot but go grab every single free items (Weapons) on the map and also to help you lvl up and pick up the free item faster on the map grab these last two item, Magnet and MoveSpeed.

farthest i got was around 38 minutes and still not enough dmg to kill even 1 reaper even with spinach 🤨

im so glad I got lucky, first try once I got the positioning down, setting him up was mostly easy, my biggest issue was the start and that positioning, I also had 2 rerolls left before getting to him likely helped alot.

Congratulations! I went to like the video, but RU-vid made the mobile icons so much smaller, my sausages kept hitting dislike. If you get a lot of bad feedback, maybe other sausages had the same problem.

I got a couple successful kills, but the character just doesn't unlock for me. I'm green of envy while y'all are red of death.

from what i can tell you were dying at stupid times by the position you were standing in. its not lined up perfectly for the 30min afk time :) master that and u are untouchable.... till the reaper spawns ofc

Meanwhile, it is much easier to kill the Reaper. Simply evolve Clock Lancet and voilà, Reaper dies ;)

is there a fully upgraded whip?? i have everything unlocked and cant fully level up the whip for the life of me. the freeze shot and tracer also i cannot fully upgrade. i chose as many of the upgrades as i can ut it seems like the game is always trying to force me to use magic wand.

Have you tried turning on the steam beta? The tome bug is fixed in it

Sorry to be that guy but isn't this still cheating? It's not cheating in the normal sense but your still abusing the mechanism's to make your perks act in a way they shouldn't which lets be honest, is still cheating right?

If you stoped moving so much when reaper apears then you would have done it in the first run.
