Thank you so much for this video, Mark! Indeed, it is both detailed and exhaustive, which helps a great deal when someone is trying to find the chair that will actually fit. I just love this honest, efficient and intelligent approach, which shows how useless most product reviews are really. Just a big thank you, Sir!

I agree with John Smith. I am 67 yrs old and spend several days/week in the woods. There are so many pieces of expensive ultra light gear on the market one can purchase. I base my decision on the weight:comfort:price ratio. I have a difficult time understanding why I need to sacrifice $$, weight, and comfort when hiking or backpacking. Maybe I have become a bit wiser in my old age. Sleeping pads are a perfect example. Thank you for another video that is informative and makes me think.

This is the first chair where I have seen the plastic-less frame design used. This frame design does appear to be stronger, as you said. I like it. As always, a well done video that deserves a thumbs up.

I have a three legged stool style chair I got from the Goodwill for a few dollars. Even though it doesn’t have a back on the seat, I find it very comfortable to sit on. Another great thing about the chair, because it doesn’t have a back and it’s higher off the ground, it makes it much easier to get on and off of. 🇺🇸🇨🇦✌️

I have had a few of the three-legged stools I also picked up at the thrift store. They work okay but this is so much more comfortable. Thanks for commenting

A suggestion for your older chair: put some foam pipe insulation around the center tube , cheap light and easy fix for the drooping seat problem

Yes, good idea. Mostly, it will become my wife's chair. She is half my weight. Thanks for commenting

G'day Mark. yep guilty as charged ; ) not something I'd carry more than, say, several hundred meters from my vehicle. Having said that; I'm no spring chicken either and I reckon these types of designs are ideal for fishing and/or picnicking. I do really like the leg "stoppers" on this one, though 2 cross bars at ground level, (either front and back or on both sides), would pretty much nullify any potential for sinkage and I'm sure given a couple of scraps of appropriate marterial, could be added as a mod. Also, I'm think'n the foot rest might be better served as an integral table. As is, I guess you could either carry a plastic chopping board or fashion a plank for the purpose. Anyway, well reviewed as usual mate. Cheers Duke.

Even before these chairs arrived I had been planning on making a material base of my other chair. Something that would work like a hammock in reverse with pockets in the four corners to support the chair on sand. Think I will give it a go. Thanks for commenting

Have a Kilos V1 high back with foot rest and it’s great. We use them at camp but we carry Helinox chair zeros when we are out in the woods or longer hikes.

Well, i think, if one is young and healthy enough, with all joints working as intended, one could not see any point in carring things such as this chair into the woods with you. But just you wait until the age creeps on on you mess up your knees, this chair maks suddenly a lot of good sense.

John, I am 67 and could not agree more. I always cringe when I see backpackers sleeping on a thin foam pad just because they are ultra lightweight. Hike smarter not uncomfortably. I go into the woods to be refreshed both physically and spiritually.

I hope you guys try hammock camping then. It serves as a height adjustable chair and get your gear off the ground too. But most importantly, it has revolutionized camping for me because of how much more comfortable it is. I never liked crouching in a tent and i don't even have to bend over to get in/out of my hammock just turn to the side. Anyone with back/knee/hip issues will likely call it a godsend if they learn how to do it properly.
@RodneyEnt
@RodneyEnt Год назад
@@pedroclaro7822, that is a good point indeed. I do have a hammock. I use it about as much as i use a tent. I'm quite a small guy. The benefits of that are that when i lay in the hammock, the sides close up on me and even the dang mozzies wont get to annoy me ... Well, i do also have a sleeping bag with bug net. In the future, maybe, i try hammocking wit quilt.

Man, the high back with the foot rest? Now that’s glamming! 😀 I got my first chairs like this, this year. They're just a cheapy from winners for only $35, and they’re a little bit heavier, but man it’s nice to be off the ground. Especially when you we ain’t that young. I won’t take mine hiking, but car camping, going to concerts in the park etc….just love them. In fact I almost have to fight with the kids to get it back from them. I’ll start looking into better ones for next year.

A lot of outdoor seats cause me issues where the front edge runs under my thighs. It's really difficult to find a comfortable seat. I am old and not physically fit. You do look comfortable in it especially with the calves supported.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this chair. I’ve been using a similar chair (during short hikes of less than three days) for a few years and it does make a difference. I’m really interested in the high back version because while this is a good design at 74” (188 cm) my upper back wasn’t as supported as I would’ve liked. I’ve constructed an extension to the original setup that gives me the upper back support I want (it adds about 8 ounces (23 grams)) but I haven’t tried a factory made chair in that pattern. As always your reviews are well throughout and have comprehensive information. Thank you again for taking the time to post this review.

I bought a cheap knock of of one of these at Giant Tiger and it's OK for short term use, but I personally need a longer back (I'm 6'3" and too much of my height is back) so I made myself a hammock chair designed for my back that I take backpacking. Car camping I'll bring the one like you've reviewed here or a bigger chair depending on how much space I have in the car. I'm interested in the long back one you're reviewing next. After paddling or hiking for a few hours, a nice comforting lounge is what my back wants.

Greetings Mark, Once again a well done review, thank you for your time. ????? Do you have any thoughts on any of the "air tents"? I only truck camp at this point in my life and am looking for a new tent, more room the better. I like this chair but, I want something higher.
