Barry's dad rock is right there at the pinnacle. As a fellow guitar player in his boomer age group we have the best that will ever be created I would speculate. The kind that gives you chills every time. Wish him luck.
I love Boston , especially the original guys , Fran Sheehan, Barry G , Sib Hashian ,Brad Delp and Tom Scholz !! they were never better than with those guys !!!
Man I’m so glad I got to see Boston live in the late 80’s in Pittsburgh. They are the only band I ever saw that sounded as good but better live than their albums. i’m wondering if that show was as memorable for the band as it was for the fans that night because the crowd was so ramped up that the band came out for 8 encours....eight. I can’t tell who was the better guitarist because Barry and Tom were going back and forth soloing so effortlessly that it was like getting twice your money’s worth watching them both crank out so much wicked guitar shredding. The sound was incredible. They opened the roof on the place three times and it was funny how the band was commenting between songs about the rush of smoke being sucked out when the roof opened...lol. Gotta say it was the single best concert I’ve ever attended and I saw a lot of bands in the 80’s-90’s. Barry definitely had the best guitar game face I’ve ever seen....definitely looked like he belonged there and made it look so easy, a classy guy to watch in action.
He is one the greatest guitarist of America.. Too bad that he went through much trouble with the well known band ... He left a legacy of great riff that reminds anybody who knows about Classico rock music...
The reason why people appreciate groups from the 70s and 80s is because they were singer songwriters. They wrote their own music and perform their own music. Today you got Quincy Jones writing the music and Britney Spears is singing his music. People are just performers today that’s it.
Tom Scholz screwed Barry big time. After Don't Look Back album, Scholz was in legal turmoil with management and record label. He told the original members it will be awhile on the 3rd album and gave his blessing to do solo's. Barry did a solo album with Brad Delp and Sib on drums. It sounded just like Boston with the three of them. Record company loved it but Scholz was so pissed he fired Barry and the late great Sib. Obviously he couldn't fire Delp but that was the end of their friendship. Much respect for Barry Goudreau.
Sib didn't leave until Third Stage was being recorded... And if you think BG sounded like Boston, you're nuts. A good album but nothing of the level of Boston.
I love Boston but I thought Shultz played most of the leads? I know they layered riffs and leads but I was shocked when she said lead guitarist. Early Boston never gets old!
@@harrycrowe7557 Barry played on the following songs from the first 2 Boston albums: "Foreplay/Long Time", "Let Me Take You Home Tonight", "Don't Look Back", "Used to Bad News" & "Don't Be Afraid"
yupworkednext door atpapa johns!!he papajohn bought noyes tomakethebiggest and bestitalian restraunt this side of the north end however it never opened! for zoning reasons
Robert Matheon I thought he bought the Honey Bee Restaurant that was on the other side of the big parking lot of the Surf Theater, across from Fisherman's Beach?
They told her that they wouldn't be renewing her contract. Even at a lower pay scale. Same with Doug Meehan who did traffic on the chopper. He's the one who started Firehouse Fridays. Which they still do, when each Friday they acknowledge a town fire department with a visit from the morning news show. They also supply Dunkin Donuts and coffee for the firefighters. Fox 25 also released morning meteorologist Cindy Fitzgibbon and then Maria Stephanos from the nightly anchor team. All within the same time period. FOX BOSTON NEWS is now like the National Enquirer of news since they released everyone.
It's Swampscit'... It was Swampscit long before Kim was there. Where'd you live Nrrrd? I grew up right up the street, down fromt he old old high school, not Alice Shaw (a name for the old townies to remember)
+Shawn Yeaton You're probably right about the pronunciation. The late, great actor Walter Brennan was from Swampscit', which sounds exactly as he would say it. Just think Walter Brennan.....dagnabit!
It looks like my original comment got deleted when Google banned me for a long time. I lived around the corner from Newman's Bakery. As for the Great "Swampscit vs. Swamp-scott" debate, I say "Swampscit" but I have friends from SHS days who say "Swamp-scott" ... maybe it depends on which part of town you grew up in?!
I spent every minute of my days growing up just around the corner from this interview location and have no idea who she is. Maybe because I moved away in 1976? 🤔
