Me too, it's definitely well made but I lost interest after ep 2. Also it falls into the same SK trope where the "ugly" person just becomes conventionally attractive (like with the shows Lookism and the one about an overweight woman who gets a magic skinny version), which I feel is really counterintuitive to any message about the mistreatment of ppl who don't meet those beauty standards, because then the audiences don't have to actually see and accept those ppl.

@@grumpysphinx4911 ive grown an odd opposition towards the word "accept" because i feel like if i accept it, theres the chance that they, the person, does not, so i never accept anything that could be someone's flaw, unless they accept it, if so, sure, if you know what comes with it and youre not just unnecessarily rebelling for the sake of it and going "obesity matters!" because thats just not, you know, and still accept it, ill respect it and accept too, rather than obesity matters, if one would go "this is who i am, and i accept that, i am happy with the life i live right now, so i dont mind really" then yeah situation 2 the person's an asshole and they accept that part of themselves in a way that isnt narrow minded well screw you but you know, i guess fine im not going to be friends with you ever but you do you

@@grumpysphinx4911i think this show was a bit different tho, she didn’t get surgery to become conventionally attractive. i mean, she DID but only after she committed murder. she didn’t gain the attention of people in a socially acceptable way, which made her plastic surgery completely different from a character suddenly becoming good looking. lookism was trash because he just became good looking and there was barely any lesson. it was “oh looks dont matter, but let me make the mc attractive anyway”. in mask girl, she did it to change her face and escape from a society that constantly wronged her. ironically, her face changing was actually her taking her mask off and becoming comfortable and true to herself. despite her good looks, she didn’t care how people looked at her. and everyone still hated her regardless of her looks theres also a focus of womanly love in this series, the love between a mother and daughter. the love between two women. despite it being a show about women being dissatisfied with their looks, the core parts of the show are the relationships between mother and daughter. the plastic surgery is used as a metaphor

Revenant is completely being slept on internationally. The plot was much better than mask girl. I personally only liked the first 3-4 episodes of Mask Girl.

@@alexisehimen3795this was different cuz for other kdramas, they’re locked into 16 one hour episodes so they have to pad out for time which makes the midpoint extremely fucked up in terms of pacing. this show didn’t have those restraints, they just kept including unnecessary scenes. i do think it actually picks up towards the last 3ish episodes. but the midpoint is pretty meh
