I did the dialogue with him but then turned down selling the spinners. He was annoyed and thought it was inevitable. Then I ran over to Joyce and screamed in her face to give me money. Kim was actually RELIEVED he didn't have to sell the spinners. lol
I got money from Joyce earlier but I spent like 2 real on some booze so I didn't have enough by the end of the night. I had to sell the spinners and I was like "dude just give me like 5 real and I'll be fine you don't have to sell your spinners .-. "
Only an absolute monster would make Kim sell his rims. He already has his extremely fancy car that he probably paid out of pocket for. He deserves spinners.
You get that scene on your 1rst playthrough and then you try every way to avoid it in the next ones. And then you keep failing that check with Joyce ;_;
Well, you can profit even more for this scene. You can get the spinners, get them in your inventory, then ask Joyce for some money (or obtain money another way, via containers or ultraliberal dialogue bonuses). Then pay Garte, go upstairs, wait for Kim to go to sleep and stay inside his room. And THEN you go to the Pawn Shop. You can the spinner full-price and get the 200 réal. Also, if you negotiate the debt for less money beforehand with Garte and sell the spinners with Kim on your party, he will always pocket the extra part of the cash, only giving you the exact amount you owe.
Is there any way to get the real to pay for the room, without forcing Kim to part with his sweet new spinners? Cause I'll need to shoot for that on my second playthrough.
With Authority, you can negotiate it down to 70 reale. After that, I'd assume just breaking into every container, having the right thoughts (Jamai Vu, 15th indotribe, hobocop) to get as much as possible, I don't doubt it's possible to pay for your room in full, without a handout from ANYONE. I think there's even a secret thing where Kim is proud of the fact you paid for everything without panhandling once.
