That’s not the issue, it’s in English and they don’t bother to ask what it says, or ask about local folkways and customs. Bigger letters won’t help. LOL! Yelling gets immediate results. They bring their own culture with them and don’t try to assimilate, just like some folks who relocate to actually live there permanently. It’s a big political issue in Europe and America.

Well, the tourist wasn’t polite and the only way to get him off the horse immediately was to shout at him. Grabbing the reins needed immediate action, it’s dangerous. Considering ither options, the giardiasis was extremely polite. His job is protection and safety, this isn’t Disneyland. And in his his home country, I doubt the reaction of his own soldiers would have been as mild as this guard’s reaction was.

What I meant is that the tourist think they are so right.

It’s not the horse it’s touching the reins that’s not allowed.

When the reins are touched the horse knows it is expected to do something. Anything it does could result in disaster to those kind of people. The horse's worth would be in jeopardy. The guards see this horrible fate to the horses every day. So sad to let ignorant people so close to the horse and guard.

Taking the reins of the horse means you're taking charge of the horse, which is why it's not allowed.

The guy doesn’t want to speak English, refused to let go even though the guard pulled the reins. The guard has a military job to do, and it isn’t babysitting rude tourists, he needed to get the tourist off those reins immediately. It’s like grabbing the steering wheel from the driver on a moving vehicle. Understand?

The Trooper isn't having a Tantrum, she's doing her job. There's a sign that says Don't Hold The Reins! Grabbing the reins means he/she is taking control of the horse.

"Just because you are a guard"? those people are fully trained soldiers and you expect them to be like "please would you not touch the reins" when there is a freaking sign saying that just next to the horse and they deal with thousands of silly tourists like this one on a daily basis. They are trained to do that, if you’re little feelings are hurt, then GET OFF THE REINS!!!! 😂 Just like here in the USA the guards at the Tomb of The Unknown Soldier will yell at you if you’re doing inappropriate things, and they yell LOUD too!!!! All it takes is respect not to get yelled at😂

This is a soldier on duty. Do you expect him to serve tourists tea and crumpets? It isn’t Dieneyland, and the soldiers aren’t there for entertainment. They’re working, on duty, their job is security and they’re the best of the best British soldiers. He was very courteous, considering the dangerous transgressions of the rude visitor who acted like a Karen. You need some education, sweetie. The guard was assertive, not “unpleasant.” It was the visitor who was being inappropriate, creating a dangerous situation by trying to grab the reins. Duh.

When you visit another country, it’s your job to learn local customs and rules, it’s not the locals’ job to teach you. You’re supposed to politely ask others how to behave, and ask what the sign says. English is the local language (as well as still being the language of commerce internationally). The rule of tourism is “when in Rome, do as the Romans do.” He should have asked, and wouldn’t let go of the reins when the. guard was more subtle. It required immediate action. It’s not the guards’ main jobs. Their job is guarding that place and the people in it. They out their lives in the ‘in’s every day, they’re not in a letting zoo. So it’s more than “fair.” I csnt think of s ither country where this would even be an issue. Again, let me say this clearly: the Chinese guy acted inappropriately, created a dangerous situation for horse, guard and Whitehall, and this guard had it take immediate action. This isn’t a petting zoo or Disneyland. It’s a military situation.
