Fight scenes look cool I'll give it that. But I heard the story was bad. It's also King Arthur. We all learnt this story as kids. It's not that interesting. Dude pulls a sword out of a rock and becomes king lol. I'm assuming everything else is made up cause the actual story isn't that complex. Idk maybe I'll give the movie a shot.
@@nicobenji0248 tbf not today, whenever i mention the story of king arthur i always get the same "what?" as people only know the name, not the story. however as someone who has read multiple different versions of the story/legend i can certainly say that the story while it is not complex, it's not simple either (variety be like), it's the children books that make it sound simple and happy go joy joy.
I still don't understand why the movie was so rated so low by the critics, it is a fanastic one, the soundtracks and the scenes. I was so disappointed that this can't get a sequel.
This was just bad editing. Cheap cgi sped up and zoomed in, not good. You can hardly even tell what’s going on in the fight amidst the “ohhh, aahhh, look over here, isn’t this badass?”
I've always said this movie and especially certain scene's in it such as this one demonstrate how good cinematography can add so much to a film. Imagine if this scene was just static non moving camera shots that barely emphasized the action. It simply wouldn't be as good. The motion, the swings, the way the camera speeds up and slows down always making sure to emphasize what's in the center of the screen. It makes you not just witness the hectic and quick nature of the fight but FEEL it.
I understand the critics reaction to this movie. While I love the fight scenes and the score is unbelievably good, the pacing of the movie is ridiculously too fast. It essentially bounces the viewer between montage of the Arthur and another fight scene. Very rarely are they moments where we can connect with any characters in meaningful ways.
Great scene for fantasy action, Very well done graphics. Nothing to do with WHO the real Merlin was, if he actually existed which seems likely. I think we can agree that there is someone named Arthur who made his mark on the world back then. I'd like to know more about the real ones too.
This is a gold piece. The editing and the camera movement makes the scene more interesting not like boring fight scenes where camera stick to normal viewpoints 😂😂.
The thing is critics bombed it mainly cause it didn't follow the classic legend and when i learned it i was like yeah cause in the legend Excalibur was a normal sword, mages like Merlin didn't exist and in general monsters didn't roam the earth. I mean wtf do you mean the classic legend ? Excalibur is a magic sword, Mages did exist and also casted spells, not sitting around doing nothing. This shows why critics cannot be trusted with anything anymore (rotten tomatoes) and i feel sorry for the people who just listened blindly to them and didn't give the movie a chance.
I love this movie but when Arthur is knocked out why would his uncle say “I think this sword belongs to me now” then proceed to walk over him and away and not pick up the sword. Or make sure he’s dead. Just walks over him and stands by the ledge
I think when he got knocked out time went backwards thanks to Excalibur. So Arthur knew what was coming. That's what I presume from the clip anyway, I've not heard of the film until now :)
I think its badly rated because they didn't dwell on good parts of it. So much to tell, so little ways employed. Very fast and Jarring from looks. And if it starts to become confusing, it just bad luck. Low quality CGI. They didn't let it breadth. If suffocation was part of the plot, then they needed to use better CGI. But the movie was still mostly good. Even in this crude manner, it still left a good impression on me and before this I had no idea what King Arthur was (literature-wise). In the thick moments, a lot has been left to the imagination of watchers. It had the right idea but stumbled a lot in key moments. Maybe it was easy for the native people of this mythology to digest, not for me as an outsider. This same problem happened to me in Mindhunters season 2. Had no idea who the killers were and they brushed past a little too quick.
What a terrible fight scene. The effects and choreography are on point, but the camara spinning all over the place to follow the action ends up being confusing af and difficult to appreciate whats happening.

An excellent movie killed because of one fatal flaw. They cast a strong white man as the hero. If Arthur was cast as a racial minority then the critics would have loved the film.
