"The wall on which the prophets wrote is cracking at the seams" I think that part is referenced in the impressions of Diavolos face Abbacchios stand leaves in that concrete. And the iron gates are somewhat relevant to Narancia also. The "seeds of time" may also refer to Trish and Giorno, literally being the seeds of men who controlled time. "As I crawl a cracked and broken path" is literally shown in how the world around him falls apart when he erases time. "But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying" is also a reference to him looking towards the future and his constant anxiety around protecting his identity.

His ability is basically cropping time like editors do to videos

Yes, that's exactly how King Crimson works. Except when it isn't.

The easiest way to understand KC is to first look at the symbolism behind it. KC is born out of a desire by Diavolo to win without fighting. Notice how Diavolo never once actually fights with his stand. (Doppio does but his stand isn't KC) Its always see the future, skip time, and win. Usually by a single jab straight through the back, a finishing blow to a fight that never happened. His stand works in much the same way. KC erases the progress and skips to the results. Nobody can remember what happens in skiped time because at that point it never happened. Everyone just "skipped" to the result of the next 10 seconds. It seems the time skip is not immediate, though. I'm guessing what happens is that as time moves forward it is being continuously deleted by KC. Though it may look like KC deletes the future, he actually deletes the present. For Diavolo, his "world" is him moving during those 10 seconds over the course of thier erasure. He can't affect anything and can't be affected by anything because everything is being deleted as it happens. He can only position himself and take action once the time skip is over.

I think the biggest piece of inspiration for this stand is another song by King Crimson called frame by frame. Just from the look of the album it belongs (discipline), you can see a lot of resemble with the design stand. Also, inside the song there are two identical electric guitar that play simoulteanously, one plays the regular song (Diavolo) and the other is a bit delayed and skips a few notes (foes). In my opinion this is the origin of the ability of the regular stand KC, And I completely agree with your take on Epitaph.

I know someone might have already explained it but on the topic of Trish in the elevator, or narancia on the bars, or anything where something happens during his erased time. Fate *will* still play out as forecasted, meaning if Diavolo predicted himself throwing a rock, but he activates erased time, the rock will still be thrown it's just Diavolo doesn't have to throw it since he is free from fate. Diavolo was fated to carve a hole in the elevator roof, chop off Trish's arm, then escape, he erased time to keep his identity hidden while maintaining the fated actions. Same goes for narancia.* Please tell me if I made a mistake here, I'd love to hear it *

King Crimson is my favorite musical reference in JoJo, and King Crimson - the stand - alongside with Diavolo, is among my favorite villains in JoJo.

I have a King Crimson figure that’s pink, blue, purple, and a lil bit of gold. Even with all those soothing colors he’s still pretty intimidating.

Just a bit of extra info, when KC activates time erasure, he pretty much doesn't exist within that time, wich means that enemy attacks don't have any effect on him and just traverse him as if he was a ghost, wich is seen used againt narrancia's Aerosmith and against bucciarati's punches, but it also means that KC cannot attack or inflict damage during that time.And as of the fact that he doesn't traverse the floor, I think it has to do with the effect that happens when he erases time where he is seen in some weard dimension or wathever, but I think that thats more of an epic show off in the anime.

Great analysis. You've describes King Crimson's reference in detail, it's ability enough to be understanded by usual person and made it with style. Like straight away from me.

I understand why referring to it as a "trance" makes it a bit easier to explain, but it's actually not quite accurate. It's not like the stand is hypnotizing you, it is quite literally erasing the chunk of time, and everything that occurred within it, within the duration of it's activation. This is a distinct thing from just putting people in a "trance" because we see it working on inanimate objects as well. Diavolo manages to dodge Aerosmith's bullets not because he moved out of the way during the erased time, but because once he erases time those bullets never physically traveled through the space he was standing in at all, and basically just teleport directly into Risotto's body. Yes you're compelled to play out whatever actions you normally would have, but once King Crimson resumes time those actions never occurred, and you just skip immediately to where you would have ended up at the end of those ten seconds. It's not that you "feel" like time skipped, it just straight up does. In fact I'd say that "Time Skip" would be a much better term to describe his power than "erasing time" just because it better describes the practical application of what he's doing.

Just to add to the whole devil interpretation, Diavolo is also the king of the (criminal) underworld, ruling from the shadows. He's formless and has no identity, but his will is carried out by his many servants. Just an observation.

The scariest part of King Crimson was not it's ability to skip time but it's ability to make donuts. Seriously though, it was technically a one hit kill stand. All of it's abilities only supported the ability to kill in one blow.

basicly, if diavolo is walking down a street with some peoples, and he uses epitaph and see a car is about to crash him, then diavolo uses King crimson to Erase the time and walk away from the crashing point, when time remuse Diavolo will be out of there but the ppls movements around him will pass on 10 seconds but thier mind memories will be the same in the past 10 seconds and at last the car crashes and kill the peoples that are originaly besides diavolo

Considered the disorder that Diavolo has, his obsessions, comments and behavior and her relaship with Doppio in parallel with the letters gives a lot more depressed and desperate background. You forgot to mention that king crimson avoids damage in the erased time. When king crimson actives his ability for .5 seconds to avoid bullets, he doesnt dodge them, they go through him. Nothing in the "erased time" can hurt diavolo, he isnt only able to avoid attacks, they phase through him.

While King Crimson's power is often described as the ability to "Erase Time", as this video demonstrates it's not exactly accurate to say King Crimson is another time based stand. Time is actually flowing normally during the usage of the ability, it would be more accurate to say Diavolo's power is that to erase conscious thought and memory. It would be interesting to see how this power works against someone like Dio or Jotaro who can stop time. If used with proper timing, could it be used to force those acting within a time stop to act unconsciously? Would this even benefit him at all or would his inability to move within stopped time just result in Dio or Jotaro killing Diavolo within stopped time and then not remember doing so?

And people still think Diavolo didn't deserve his fate?

I read somewhere that when polnareff faces against Dio he is looking up from a staircase it is akin to him witnessing God and when he encounters diavolo he sees him below the stairs like Satan marking both their goals as similar yet unique where diavolo wishes for a throne made up of the bodies of those apposing with his face forever hidden Dio wishes to be deified and surrounded by worshipers.

What makes King Crimson incredibly terrifying is not it's physical prowess, hell, not even it's time erasure ability, it's future forecasting is what's truly scary. Erasing time is indeed a powerful ability, but without knowledge of future events, it can easily be countered and defeated.
