A lot of films nowadays are just made for profit for the studio. King Kong wasn’t, this was Peter Jackson’s passion project and it shows. Films like this are rare to come by these days.
I really adore how Peter Jackson makes the fight scene with Kong three Vastatosaurus Rexes in multiple areas which are pretty impressive. Other than that, I really love this movie and it’s one of my favorite movies from 2005 alongside Robots from 2005. This is one of the most underrated dinosaur movies I’ve ever seen alongside The Lost World Jurassic Park and the Speckles Movies, not as great as Dinosaur 2000, Jurassic Park and Jurassic World as well as The Land Before Time which those are my favorite dinosaur movies but it’s still a criminally underrated dinosaur movies in my opinion. I definitely enjoy this more than the original one from 1933 which was a complete classic and I enjoy it more than Kong Skull Island in my opinion. Peter Jackson’s remake of King Kong is a beautiful piece of work and Peter Jackson should be proud of himself for all this.
@@paulheap1982 Kong Skull Island is the best example for why king kong 2005 is the most iconic movie of modern cgi. King kong Awesome vs Kong Boring...
This still hold as a winner compared to Kong: Skull Island fight scene to me, but then there will be Kong vs Godzilla, we'll see which one is the best fight scene
SI is like half of KK's duration, especially when you consider the extended version that is 3 hours, 20 mins long. And they had to switch a lot of things around to make it fit into Legendary's monsterverse. For example, they couldn't kill him off at the end. In music terms, SI is more like a remix whereas KK is more of a remaster.
Until this day i watch this movie every now and then. lol am i the only 1 to watch this movie like 20 times? grew up watching it as a kid and until today its still a gem. ive played the ps2 game too a bunch of times. i love it
I heard the game was fantastic and that Jackson was heavily involved in its creation process. It got great reviews and some clips I've seen look like near movie quality...👍
This movie....this whole V rex fight scene.... No one has ever done this and no one ever will do this ....EPIC .... Peter Jackson and his team....these guys are God level!
For those folks that may scoff at the idea we may be living in a "Matrix" type simulation just look at what humanity can do now with cgi and then consider what may be possible a thousand years from now keeping in mind that technology expands exponentially
7:47 I remember when I was a kid I was a big, big fan of Dinosaurs and one day I had nothing to do at my father's home and we had those “selected list of movies” within our telecommunicationnal programs and they had this movie! And for the first time, I knew who King Kong was, I asked my father if the movie was good and he said that everything was alright so I watched it and when I found the part where Kong and the Dinosaurs were fighting against each other I seriously rewatch that part until my father told me to stop because I was watching the movie too loud, I remember him telling me “aren't you tired of always rewatching this specific part” and I was like “what about it old crusty mf wanna fight what's up??) I was for sure super friendly with him it was a father/son gentle fight you know!
200 milion dollars, but with the lord of the rings trilogy Peter Jackson has so many moneys and budget for everything, the budget isn’t a problem, the time and constancy of all of these guys is something incredible
Thank you so much for this "behind the scenes". Jacksons King Kong is one of the best movies ever made and it even too became a classic today. It was a heart project of him and Im watching everything about it.
Best Fight Scene I have ever watched even today whenever I have free time I watch this whole fight scene in RU-vid. In Godzilla movies they just don't show the fight they just show only actors and in background the fight scene over.
During my childhoodbthe bars had just been set JP hit theaters when I was 6 and t2 was fresh even bttf and SW trilogy holding up the whole 90s. Then 97-99 ... Titanic, matrix, independence day, SW Phantom Menace and then I can honestly say LOTR, this and War of The Worlds were the last of a certain cinematic level of excellence we will never see again. Mind you if you mute Dakota Fanning War of the Worlds is a solid sci fi monster/alien flick. It feels like its all bad. Spielberg got down.
Film making at its finest. One of my all time fav movie especially the fight scene is real as hell. After the titanic it’s the best emotional love story that makes me cry at the end 🙌🙌🙌🙌
It's amazing to me how the original fight still holds up beautifully after 90 years. The choreography, the sound effects, all of it so primal. I don't care at all for Jackson's version. It doesn't matter how 'realistic' the CGI is -- the whole thing is just way overdone for my taste and takes me out of the scene.😊
This is 10x better than that dumpster fire movie Kong skull island. This movie has soul which is what the new movies don’t have. The new kong movies are just dumb brainless action movies made to attract 10 year olds
KSI isn't THAT bad. The VFX is outstanding, the human characters range from decent to meh, the score is good for keeping the scene intense, the action is beautiful. The storyline, however, could be majorly improved. Kong himself is different from previous incarnations which is definitely an improvement, GvK also improves on this Kongs character. Callin it a dumpster fire is a little intense. Objectively it's a good film.
It always amazes me how these wizards from the digital department are able to achieve this live - like animation and look. 2005 was the peak CGI year, I would say. Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith came out in 2005. ROTS is the best-looking Prequel movie, the CGI aged really well in this movie. The same goes for King Kong (2005). The CGI here is astonishing! Especially Kong's CGI model is breathtaking! I rewatched the movie yesterday and loved every scene! It's crazy how well the CGI aged in this movie. I watched afterward King Kong: Skull Island from 2017. And honestly, the CGI from 2005 looks better, in my opinion.
Watching this movie 2 times a year until 2022 just like home alone Even the making of the movie makes me cry 😢 😭 I love this movie king Kong so bad it hurts when Kong die 💔 😢
What an amazing CGI they had created ..... 👍👍👍 I have never ever seen such a CGI ...even after 17 years , we can't see such a movie with this kind of VFX in 2023 ......
Quick question, is the music made according to the scene or vice versa? If the music is made according to the scene then do they watch the raw animatic scene and then write the music as they watch it?
Typically, composing is done after the film is finished, so James Newton Howard would have seen either a finished version of the film or a rough cut where the CGI was still unfinished, then composed the music from there, and may have discussed certain ideas with Peter before putting pen to paper. I haven't followed the music production for this film, but that is typically how the music is made during film production.
I do love this movie, but the one thing that took me out of the story was the fact that PJ's Kong didn't bleed when he was shot. Even the 1933 Kong bled. The 1976 Kong bled buckets. So why wasn't the 2005 Kong allowed to bleed when he was shot. I realize that saying, "It's NOT realistic' when you're talking about a huge money on the top of a building does sound odd, but if the director/ film makers want to sell the story as REAL , then even the unpleasant has to be part of the story. The way it stands, it's like Kong died of a heart attack from being shot AT. Truth is, when a creature is shot, it bleeds.
