-one of the greatest warriors in all of warhammer -a living demigod with blessed blood and practical immortality -slays greatest of Nurgle's greater daemons in an incredible battle -slain by a fat dude with a saw Fuck off, GW
A lot of people say they don't like how Louen dies. I kind of really think it is in character. He is an old, ancient knight, embodying honor , chivalry and loyalty. At the end of the world, when nations are fending for themselves, and his own in ruin, he rides out with his knights. To help defend his fellow man. In the middle of a catastrophic battle, Leoncoeur notices a shrine, a holy place under attack. He gives his life in protection of a lady, a place of faith and purity, What is likely the last untainted place mankind has on the world. It is gritty and gruesome, but all the more knightly, since it wasn't a catastrophic deus ex machina that killed him. But instead a lone knight, defending a holy place at the end of all things. I think a lot of new writers can stand to learn from Louen's character. He's badass and honorable, while not whimpy and snobby, An archetypical king.
As a french myself, Bretonnia appeals so much to me. I do hope they will be playable soon after release. And don't worry, I bear no grudge at your pronunciation, especially as you made such a great video about Louen Leoncoeur. Vive le Roi!
Well it's pretty much the Arthurian mythology mixed with medieval France and just a little medieval english touch (the use of longbowmen just to name one).
@@246vili So basically medieval France and england ahah, Arthurian legends was very influential in france and a lot of author write about Arthurian Legends.
fun fact; less french influence than you might think The lords speaking with french accents whilst the peasants have english ones makes me think they were playing off norman stuff, i.e. most english nobility would've spoken french throughout the majority of medieval english history
25:20 Wow. That’s literally the equivalent of a 9yo going “Nuh Uhh I’m invisible you can’t see me.” That’s dreadful writing. I can see why from just Louens death why people despise the end times.
Well you've successfully hyped me up for Bretonnia waiting for the flying heavy cav. Any chance of you doing a Kislev/ice queen Lore Video? Also keep up the good work
I very much enjoy your Legendary Lords videos, however you have not covered either of the dwarf lords. Do you have no love for them or are you saving the Best for last? Keep up the good work, you have helped me so much in starting to research the Warhammer world in preperation for Warhammer Total War (or Warhammer dlc as I am starting to call it). I believe that Bretonnia will end up being the "free dlc" faction that the developers at Creative Assemble promised. It would give 3 "good" and 3 "bad" factions depending on your view on Chaos!
i know it's been three yers, but just so you would know. Three years later after your video, i came and discovered it. I heard of your voice the tales of Louen Leoncoeur, of Bretonnia. Now, at my turn, even though the age of sigmar has come, the end times destroyed everything we held dear, my bretonnian are still fighting, thanks to you
Great Video, hopefully this month/ week is VC as Joey from TW described in the interview online as December being green skin month. As a suggestion/ request for a related legendary Lord for Bretonia, Heinrich Kemmler & Krell? Happy new year!
+Loremaster_of_Sotek. cool, just watching your latest battle report. I haven't seen beastmen since 6th ed. this month vc month, although with systen requirements now released means theyre praticaly finished
Fake Lady of the Lake who is Elven. Whoever wrote this is obviously a Monty Python Fan. I mean the Moistened Bint did't even give old Lion heart a decent sword. Some Watery Tart giving him some pond water is not a mandate for supreme rule!
Well, you kinda have to raise a Hippogryph from birth, if you want it to not want you dead. Though, to be noted is this... Louen's Hippogryph, Beaquis, is faster and more agile than Deathclaw. Its also smarter... However, Deathclaw is hardier, and stronger.
Great video Sotek, I think you just persuaded me to make my second playthrough Bretonnia (providing they are released early enough :P). Leoncoeur seems like a great man, his early exploits to impress the Lady and that final battle against Nurgle were awesome. I would have loved it if there had been more written about Thorgrims encounter with him, I like it when there is the opportunity to explore different conceptions of how best to be honourable. If you don't mind, I was wondering how Leon managed to impress Vlad von Carstein so much, was it an appreciation of his martial ability, or his personal integrity?
U and I must have read deferent books because valed turned the leech Lord to stone and leoncer died in the lap of the high priests the leech Lord never cut his head off.
sotek! first you are doing a great job. keep it up. second i have never heard the prounouc of the hippogryph the way you said it. think beatrix like trix ceral or form harry potter. i like the way you said it :D do you know which way is correct or is it potato patato. i think Arch said it like trix is all. Anyway great job i love bretonnia,, just finished painting my old louen model. FOR THE LADY AND THE GRAIL AND TO BE A MEAT SHIELD FOR THE WOOD ELVES! .:D
Coming to the End Times event part years later and it's still fucking stupid, honestly the worst wargaming event since the fucking Jihad in Battletech.
This guy is always annoying in vampire count campaigns -_- I just got done killing rikeland and farming gelt for his armor trait. And then oh look who is coming down to altdorf. That or he kills red duke and himmler off before i can confederate. Im sure hes a great guy in the lore but im fed up with his bs anytime i want to do anything that isnt an order campaign.
If the lady of the lake is a lesser chaos deity and isn't the creation of a Daemon Prince empowerment from a god. Are Grail Knights kinda Daemon Princes sorta? Also, people say Priest of Sigmar are Space Marines of Fantasy, the Grail Knights put those bald weaklings.
So unless they completely rewrote this battle this is not how this happened. I own the audio book of Fall of Altdorf. This is not how the battle takes place in it.
Nagash brought him back to life or... unlife i guess. It doesn't really make sense but it's the End Times so sense was the first thing trown out of the window.
Hi love these Warhammer Videos and i hope you keep producing more content. I just wanna give a few hopefully helping tips. 1 Have a small intro, don't go from 0-100 it can a bit annoying/scary for new people. 2 Present your self so we know who we the audience are listening to. I know its just a audience of one every view but its a nice gesture. And by presenting your self, i just mean. Hi i'm Loremaster. Not your real name or address. This is the internet and the trolls are everywhere. Well that was all i wanted to add. Hope you do more Lizardmen lore in the future and that you have a nice day. (Ps English is not my first language and I'm sorry for any grammar flaws.)
I would assume that depends on the timeframe. Only in End Times is Karl Franz supersaiyan, right? In normal times, only one of the two "men" are bequeathed with superhuman capabilities.
