He’ll never beat yujiro, Baki, and any other character that the writer wants to highlight for the week. If Motobe could beat him with some preparation, nearly every reoccurring character has a shot. He gets constant lip service, but after the tournament he’s just there to show us whether this arcs big bad bully means business or not.
@@juliansanderson839 I mean yeah. He's basically became the vegeta of Baki. But he's still the coolest mf on the show tho (along with yujiro). Also the motobe fight is what made me mad. I know with prep time he could beat a lot of people. But they should have started with some other characters not JACK who's supposed to be the 3rd strongest
@@Cameron-qe7il even lost against Motobe, but I don't care his will is unbreakable, that's what I like about him. He has way more qualities to be a better son/character than Baki, maybe that's why the creator nerfed him into the ground.
I’m surprised he hasn’t reached the limit yet but then again baki had world class trainers so tbh it make sense baki just needed to do real activity now to get to the limit Jack pushed himself too much and therefore was always in pain rather than danger

In this fight he was 7'2 later when he fought pickle his height increase to 7'6 and after Musashi arc we go into sumo arc and we see jack height is now 7'11
I really wanna see what kind of a beast jack would be with a demon back. He's more similar to the other hanmas in personality as compared to baki. Plus him being weaker than so many characters kinda soils the Hanma name.
I mean, yeah, he was considered a joke of a Hanma but you have to remember his natural physique. It's actual garbage he got to where he is because of multiple surgeries and a shit ton of steroids.

I don't think he'll ever have the demon back sadly. I think it's because while he's a warrior, he only mastered pushing beyond pain, but not the other mental aspects the other Hanma men learned. Jack is basically self taught and there's a ton of holes in his mental game that are stopping him, and with the fight in the manga where Yuujiro admitted defeat to Baki, it shows what level the two of them are on mentally. Jack just doesn't have that compared to them.
@@VikingSloth but the thing is Baki unlocked his demon back when he was far weaker in both mind and body and also no pp training. And I don't think he can still use demon back on command (haven't read the latest Baki dou sumo series yet). Most of baki's mental development came AFTER he had already unlocked the demon back.
I like how Ali jr character started so strong, even though he was a side character, I thought he would of been some what of a friend or ally towards Baki. Jack Hanma is a great meditation on steroids. Drugs can never give you the discipline, work ethic, or skill to become a champion, and that's true for all sports. They can be the baseline for transcending humanity at the cost of their future. Its a way for people to knowingly sacrifice their future bodies in exchange for the opportunity to push the limits of humanity. In a way, people who take steroids can be admired in the sense that they are so serious about what they do, they're willing to make those sacrifices.
what you said was true but I would add that drugs don’t give you the genetics either. jack had the work ethic and discipline but not genetics. baki won against jack because had his demon back which he inherited his from his father. yujiro remarks that jacks hanma blood on is not pure which is why he will be weak compared to him and baki.
I'm sorry but I would disagree that he was ever low tier. He was actually faster in his skinny form. The steroids only enhanced what he could already do he was never weak.
jack was weak he literally lost to all his sparring partners and couldnt move a punching bag because he could not gain any strength from his ridiculous workout routine without the use steroids. If he trained like kid baki did he would be strong without steroids but he knew he needed more to reach Yujiro.

He’s not talking about skinny jack from the maximum tournament when he fought baki. he’s talking about skinny jack from before he started taking steroids when he was on the verge of death and losing sparring matches with everyone.

How can you say that? Jack was weak AF before the pharmaceuticals. They showed him hitting a heavy bag before the drugs during the Maximum Tournament and his punches couldn't even move the thing. Baki had more power as a child when he shows off his bag work before fighting Yuri Chicofski in the first episode of the original series. Jack in his original body couldn't beat anyone in the maximum tournament, heck he wouldn't even qualify to get in.
Itagaki makes 2 types of characters. Musashi who is an amazing character that is to big for this arc to completely appreciate him. Ali Jr who’s a simple character that has an arc that is so big it jobbs him

a lot of folks say ali. jr got jobbed out in this. what they don't get is jr., while very talented, hadn't been tested. sure, he beat shibukawa and doppo but he hadn't been properly introduced to the world of street fighting that baki and the others live in. he thought he could knock out jack but he thought wrong and he paniked and got washed. like mike tyson famously said "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face."
