King's Quest IV: The Perils of Rosella - Retold Edition (2) Whale of a time 

So, as I get older I now realize how much my father and my voices are so similar. Weird.

Oh, I'd never heard of this edition before! I'll have to check it out - KQ4 is one of my favourite KQ game, though personally I've always liked the SCI type interface over the click mechanics.

With that room being inspired by Laura Bow, the game should have said, "You pick it up, and place it in your purse." 😉 And I agree, in that whale, they should have had something to indicate where you can go and not go. It feels like a game of chance trying to find the right spots. Anyways, enjoying this, thank you.

I don't really like the clock sound. That's the one sound effect that I don't like. 3:49 100% agree. Police Quest 2 has one of the best soundtracks of any game of this time. I like how this version added death messages. I had no idea. I didn't see any of those when I played it. I like when the screen shakes when you fall. I also like that we don't have to deal with Rosella's death scream like we do in King's Quest 7. 16:39 This is why you turn off dead ends. You just made the game unwinnable (I know restoring saved games from before that fixes the problem, but it's an inconvenience that could have been avoided this way. Besides, I'd like to see what it would have said if dead ends were turned off). 21:23 Yeah, apparently the entire Graham family are gifted musicians. Rosella seems to be the most gifted one of them all. 27:15 This is exactly what I avoided by turning off dead ends. I didn't have to say "Oh, oh, oh, God no!" 27:52 Well, that's new. I don't think I've ever seen the peacock show its full tail. I like that the note in the bottle says something different in this version. Apparently, this version gives you less time to climb the tongue than the original version. That's the opposite of what I expected. 33:23 I know what you mean and I agree. 33:45 Apparently there were some puzzles that Roberta made intentionally ridiculous to sell hint books and that was one of them. A few things I prefer about King's Quest 7: no dead ends, no whale tongues or winding staircases to climb, and no monsters that can randomly appear on the screen and instantly kill you unless you're on the edge of the screen and the next screen is a safe screen.

Has this retold edition been out for a while?
