5 years later and i recently discovered this was in a top 10 most expensive board games of all time list. They weren't lying 😅 but the moment I saw damage gets done to different body parts i was like WHAT!!!! Genius combat idea and in a few months i will collect everything much to my wallets protests
Even after countless play throughs of this amazing game, I am still happy to see the Prologue Fight take place with new people playing. As well as playing through it myself. It never gets old for me personally. Along with expansions, this truly has become my favourite game to play of all time! I look forward to follow along with this campaign, it was awesome to watch, your table set up is fantastic! Makes me really jealous, I would love a game room similar to that where I can have Kingdom Death set up permanently! :D
Thanks Andrew! Awesome to have you following along for the ride. I do have a decent room, but, I always have to set it up and take it down every week, otherwise I can't play anything else solo or with my kids. Would be sweet to have enough space to keep it perma-setup though for sure. Amazing game though, wow. Never gets old for me either.
I'm glad to see that people are still interested in this game. I'm also glad to see your simple "might as well record it" idea. Lots of big things have started that way, the one most prominent to me being Critical Role.
Great start to a Kingdom Death Monster series. This is the first game we started doing a series of as well and really enjoyed bringing viewers along with us. Keep up the great work!
Oh my god, thank you so much for posting a playthrough. I'm enjoying the game, but it's always been difficult to see how other people houserule and organize the plethora of mechanics at work! Also consider moving the camera/mic onto a tripod or separate table to mute the thuds whenever you tap the table.
gHx4 - I just have to use the equipment I have, and I don't have another tripod or way to get the mic off the table. Maybe some day. In future episodes (we are have recorded 13 now) I do believe it gets better. Probably need to get through the first 4 or 5 episodes if I remember correctly. Thanks for watching!
I played this game the other week on TTS... and wow how lucky we were only to come out with scrapes and bruises! I laughed as i never realised you could get a pair of lion balls as a resource :D I look forward to watching how this campaign pans out!
More than a year later and im starting this series. Im very encouraged by how you have so many episodes up and im excited to see how it all goes. Thanks for sharing this!
I love how well kept everything is. Sleeved and or in a binder! I come from a tcg background so sleeving is an OCD of mine lol but also a must! And great job on this vid! I will continue my adventure through yalls journey!
Enjoyed it so much I watched it again. I wanted to make a constructive criticism. Take it or leave it. At 1:02:20 or so you discuss why you are buying bone darts in terms of the Lion having a card that your tribe hasn't experienced yet. Also a little earlier you discuss keeping certain resource based on being able to make future weapons that the tribe does not know exist. While I understand this as a gamer, the dungeon crawling roleplayer in me that loves the discovery aspect of games like Kingdom Death cringes since this is like reading the scenario book ahead of time, finding out that you are going to fight vampires despite having no way to know that, going and buying wooden stakes before you leave town, and even buying enough to deal wit 6 vampires since that is what is called out by the scenario. Part of the beauty of discovery just goes poof... anyway, please consider that aspect in the future if you wish...
I agree with this. Everyone who is experienced with this game probably subconsciously makes decisions with future knowledge involved, but it does take a viewer out of the experience when you're talking in Lantern Year 1 about what you're going to do with a sword you get in Lantern Year 6, that your settlement would have no reason to expect to get.
@@lergof0202 I agree with you guys, it is something that makes getting a first playthrough and getting farther magical. Unfortunately, they can't unplay the game.
Im so glad i found this! My only suggestion is be careful about your mic stand on the same surface where you write and roll. The mic pics up you all putting stuff on the table or writing something, and the feedbacks pretty loud. It got quite distracting after a while. But im really excited to continue watching!!! Keep up the great content, im officially subscribed :)
Thank you Gon Kyaw Zaw Han. Cool name too! We will definitely be finishing this series, wether we just die off, or somehow manage to be successful. I had to take a break here in July due to travel, but I think we'll be filming our next episode next week and picking it back up again.
This was a great series, too bad you never got to finish it. Good luck if you start another one! I am doing a play through on my channel as well and I hope to make it to the end. Life always getting in the way of gaming!
What i find also refreshing is that you are very familiar with the rules. There some good guys out there that did also kdm campaing runs like but they missing very often the rules
Thanks Sven. Even though I wouldn't say I'm a veteran, or know all the interesting strategies (I never read up on it, would rather figure things out on my own), I have well over 200 hours into this game. So I do feel pretty confident on the rules overall. Glad to hear the feedback, thanks!
Such a good play through video! I love how well kept everything is. Definitely pushing me towards spending the 400 to get it. Cannot wait to watch the rest of the playthrough. My only complaint is that the audio is pan-reversed.
Really enjoyed the video. Thanks. A couple of comments or recommendations. 1. Need to do something different than the dice tower since you cannot see the rolls on the video. 2. All of the playthroughs I have watched so far make stupid moves (location-wise) for the Lion. Shouldn't he be moving so as to keep the humans as much in front of him as possible rather than turning his back to them?
Great video, a few small things. The lion may have died before it deafened Promise, as you forgot to roll on is soft belly injury that could have killed it. Graves will give your new born +1 understanding, and your departing survivors are getting +1 insanity as well as +1 Understanding, you commented that the sheet didn't have a spot to mark the Understanding. (So if you take the new born it could have 2) Great video though, enjoyed watching.
Are you the same Prattski that made the awesome scripted TTS mod ? I love that mod it makes playing wih my game group when they are not in town super easy. That way we can keep our campaigns rolling even when we are not able to physically meet.
Hey guys, love the gameplay videos - thanks for sharing! Had a quick question. Do you use some sort of tray to hold all of the components during gameplay? Any recommendations for storage and/or during play? Thanks!
Nice playthrough. I will follow the campaign. How did you make these cool cardslots for the character gearcards and the dividers for the gearcards? Best wishes.
I think people forget that, before KDM v1.5, Protect the Young was the only viable way to play the base game campaign... I can see where Matt is coming from, as now with the lifetime reroll SoTF is definitely stronger, but we shouldn't forget that PtY is still completely viable (breed like rabbits and don't worry if anyone dies!)
George - Cool you checked out our KDM too! I think I will have a hard time convincing Matt to go with PtY, as he does find it strong, and grows more attached to characters than I do. But we'll see how this one goes! I think with as little of a population as we had, the chances of us making it far into this campaign are slim. PtY is my personal go-to when starting with a middle/low population. If you keep all 4 survivors on the prelude fight, and then roll well and start with 14, I'm all for SotF. But then again, it's all in the luck of the rolls and the draws!
Thanks Sven! The cardholders are just acrylic business card holders. Super cheap, and you can get all sorts of different configurations of them. I've got 8 slot, 4 slot, and individuals. As for the item grids, I actually built those myself out of wood, then painted them with a gloss black. They were a lot of work, but totally worth it.
Hi guys! Thx a lot for your playthrough. When you brought on the table a big folder with tons of cards (weapon armor etc) - it was amazing. Where did you get it? I want to order it in my town but dont know what to tell them about size of each cell and also you have many bookmarks on it. May be you can make a video for it?)) thx
What a strange book for a game. I found the 1 to 2 sentences per page odd lol. Maybe I’m missing something but I don’t understand why the board is so huge.
Hi Michael - The setup of the whole table? What exactly are you wanting to see? When we are recording video, I setup the table differently than I would if we were not recording too.
If you are going to record and post your in game tactical and settlement discussions, please don’t make me stare at your hands the whole time. Also, the camera is too far from the board to enjoy the experience.
Thanks for the feedback Epidemic989. I am very limited in my options. If the camera gets closer, then more and more visibility of the whole board is lost. My videos aren't for everyone - I totally get that. Just doing what we can with what we've got.
Hi Rob. Well, not all of us have the money, resources, or time to do multi-camera or non-static camera setups. But, the awesome thing about RU-vid and the internet in general is that there are millions of videos out there that you can watch besides mine. I hope you're able to find a non-static camera video to suit your needs.
