I remember hearing advice about this fight and somebody asked "what drive form should i use?" the guy replied "limit form because donald and goofy are dead for 90% of the fight"
Its just so strange. Terra: "I swear on this awesome cape that I will FUCK UP the next guy I see no matter how long it takes, I'm going to acquire the most rediculous overpowered moves that I've never used before over the span of 11 years of kneeling. and I'm not gonna budge here until some guy comes here!" Sora: hey who are you stranger? Terra: Bingo
Terra's keyblade transforms into a whip, a gauntlet, a sword, a cannon and even a freaking space glider thing. Meanwhile sora's keyblade just opens shit. Edit: Man, this comment did NOT age well.
nothing is more satisfying in Kingdom Hearts than that moment when u deliver the final blow to a boss and the game just goes in slow motion for the cutscene about to happen
@@niezuyskurwiel Oof. Yeah, first time, actually got close. Got him to about half, then died. I was LVL 82 by then. So I got myself to max, got my Ultima Weapon and PUMMELED him while learning what to evade and how to react to his moves.
I absolutely love it, the fact that this is a secret boss that starts to talk about thing you have no idea what they are, the voice, the location and how he looks, makes for an amazing secret fight.
now i know many bosses and enemies in the game use some interesting tactics to kill sora, but turning your keyblade into a bike to run him over has got to be just the most unsportsmanlike behavior this game has to offer am i right?
Quite a malleable weapon, really, given all its forms: the base Keyblade, the Ultima Cannon, a whip, twin blades, a bow (bit redundant when it can turn into heavy artillery) and even a weird hoverbike thing.
This had to have been the weirdest fight for Sora and his friends. Just imagine Sora returning to where Riku, Kairi and Mickey are at the end of the game and you walk up to Riku wearing that crown. Riku: Sora, have you finished... *sees crown* where did you get that? Sora: Oh this? I just got it from fighting some empty suit of armor that did a lot of strange moaning. It just kinda... Got up and fought me and then sat back down afterwards... Goofy and Donald weren't that helpful in that fight though. Riku: I feel like you're making this up, are you making this up?
I'm playing on Critical mode right now and he is unbelievably hard once I got him to 1 and ahalf bar of health and I was going to go into final form to end this battle but guess what I press wisdom form and I was sliding for dear life from this man and he teleport to me slice in the throat and ........I died
Or: oh i just leveled myself to 99,forged Ultima, did some skatboard Stuff, fought the complete Organisation 13 in powered up forms, beat the soul of Terra we should Not Even know yet and yeeeeeeah......then i came back here to beat the living fuck out of Xemnas!Trust me,he is a pushover :o
w0ng™ I actually agree with you that they should have given the player a gold or platinum trophy for beating Lingering Will instead of a silver trophy.
Kinda true since on highest level in kh its pretty much 1 hit and your dead. But you can also handycap yourself in ds aswell no hits on ds are infinitely harder
+BobRosstheBoss I never understood this sentiment of "they're different, so they aren't comparable!" Kingdom Hearts and Dark Souls have plenty in common, at least enough to be compared. -Both are action RPGs -both require you to look for openings in the boss' pattern and punish said boss for exposing it's weakness -you can use different tactics in both games to deal with different encounters in any way you want too (at least in any game that isn't Dark Souls 2 since circle strafing is almost required for humanoid bosses) Just because Dark Souls is a little slower doesn't mean it's exempt from comparison to fast-paced action games of the same genre. Whether you feel one is harder than the other is completely subjective, though. I personally had little trouble with high level Dark Souls, but high level Kingdom Hearts on proud or critical made me very careful and think about how I'd go about certain encounters. EDIT: Also to add, the fact that they are different, yet similar leaves them even more open to a comparison.
Just beat the Data Battles for the first time thinking I was badass with my copper crown. Topped the mushroom XIII feeling boss with my Winner's Proof and silver crown. Then I challenge this guy and died instantly, talk about being deflated.
+itsddashrock I actually found Lingering Will easier to do than the Data Battles. At least with the former it was just one ridiculously hard fight, but with Data battles it's 13
itsddashrock 1) mushrooms 2) lingering will 3) data 13 which were the easiest because I just beat LW and their attacks felt slow only tough one was marluxia and demyx
@@retardopsll8389 if you want the Dark Souls experience in KH just do Level 1 Critical, you pretty much die to any boss in 2 hits while doing the damage of a spoon
@@Aqarzy why and how do you think that any fromsoft ng+7 is comparable to any fromsoft dlc The DLC is barely ever harder than the base game and the base game by design is much much easier than ng+7
There were even better times, he healed Sora *TWICE* when he was getting hit by Terra's strongest move, giving him invincibility frames as he got healed and therefor giving sora a chance to not only get his health back but also giving him a chance to block Terra's next attacks.
Y'know, it's been years and KH3 is out. I just realized the Lingering Will is blind. That's why he attacks Sora even though he looks absolutely like nothing Xehanort. He could only sense his presence and his keyblade.
Surprising how his minds been in that armour for what? *_12 years?_* It's interesting how he lasted that long, only to save Sora by jumping in the way.
Could be that he's just too focused on the fight at the moment, it's probably rather difficult to observe proper manners when a killer suit of armor is trying to show you what happens when you take a saw edged keyblade up the arse.
Donald and Goofy shows to be focused on the battlefield but they still bother to thank Sora not only them but all partners respond when healed except the ones who don't level up.
+Red Phoenix I think it was something along the lines of the lingering thoughts, memories and emotions from Terra's mind that were cast aside by Xehanort when he took over his body! They took refuge in, and gave life to, Terra's Keyblade Armor....I guess you could say ghost
Music at the beginning is so misleading. All peppy and happy then it's all "welcome to hell" and ur dead. By the way this guy seems to have a LOT more mercy than Vanitus lingiring spirit and mysterious figure. Yet...he's harder.
Well, more mercy, but this guy's KH2 FM Material: He's expected to have loads of HP and take a ton of DMG. Vanitas' Remnant and Mysterious Figure/Young Xehanort take way less damage than this dude ever did, plus the fact that they take little to no damage like No Heart does. He does have some pauses inbetween his attacks, giving you time to strike, but the other two? Hell no.
Someone actually modded and pulled the renders of Lingering Will and Xemnas in KH2 FM; even though both should be the same size as Terra, they boosted Lingering Will's height considerably (Xemnas is maybe 7/8 of his height)
How come the moment he said "Aqua... Ven..." They got ready to fight,? Like wtf guys calm the fuck down, he probably fought you because you brought out your fucking keyblade.
+11sonicspeed So much this I was like "Hey Sora just fucking say something instead of getting ready to fight...you do realize the armor has a keyblade right?"
+rulerofthesaints999 then again, every time someone can use a keyblade, they've attacked him. The only one who hasn't EVER is actually King Mickey. Oh, and Kairi, she does count in my book for that too
KTAVERILL Well to be fair he's been stewing in his juices with undying hatred for Xehanort for a good ten years, in a wasteland with nothing but a Keyblade. He's gotta do something with his time.
If there’s one thing I love about Kingdom Hearts, it’s that despite being a game full of Disney characters, the battles and the music can be so intense and insane.
PlexyPhotos86 Lol I agree he lost, i'm just saying even if he was this powerful he still would've lost. Xehanort is one of the most powerful characters and Terra let him mislead him.
Secret bosses ALWAYS have greatly exaggerated strength. That's why Xemnas and Teen Xehanort seemed so much stronger than they really are (that's my assumption, anyway).
It's either that or every single thing Sora has fought up until Terra has been a total weakling and now Sora's hits do shit for damage on Terra's side. Meaning that if we were to see Terra's actual life bar from BBS, it would be like... a pixel of damage for each combo Sora gets.
By far and most known as the Hardest of all KH bosses ever, made even better after beating Terra's BBS Story arc. LIke this guys will is so strong that despite his body not being in this world, (technically not his anymore), His freaking will and determination to one day make things right makes this boss an interesting one. Like the lore on this guy makes him an even more interesting character in the world of KH. I honestly am stoked about the new upcoming game, but what im really looking forward to is this guys ending, like, will he finally be able to rest, or is he doomed to live out his shame for all eternity
Nah I'm pretty sure the final blow to Xehanort will be Sora charging up an attack with everybody behind him giving their strength to him. It's only right.
+J Kelus that's what I'm sayin' bro. If that happened it'd be cool but I'd get more satisfaction if Terra got a bit more spotlight in the battle (if there is going to be one)
I can't decide how I want to go. I want everybody to get a good piece of Xehanort. If the final blow is like that it'd be epic but it'd still be underwhelming to a degree because everyone has something to repay Xehanort for.
The bosses in this game series were honestly the best part and pretty much every advanced form of lategame bosses were horrifying to deal with. I have never felt so much rage trying to beat certain bosses in videogames before, but when you actually do; it's so worth it.
It it my belief that Lingering Will is the most badass boss in Kingdom Hearts II. Yes even moreso than Sephiroth and the veritable marathon that was Xemnas.
+David Brachmann If the footage from Kingdom Hearts 3 tells use anything; we will have abilities like his. And it makes since that sora wouldn't have those types of flashy moves seeing how he's not a keyblade master.
Well to be fair Terra was not a keyblade master either (he failed the test) unlike Aqua. Although the original 3 warriors (Terra, Aqua, and Ventus) were trained by keyblade warriors who had fought in the keyblade war so I guess that accounts for their level of power.
+Dark ShadowBlade Terra failed the test, but he was still skilled enough to become a master. If Xehanort hadn't interfered with the test, then it's likely both Aqua and Terra would have been named Masters. Though I wonder... Terra's this strong now and he's been sitting in the Graveyard for 10 years. Aqua's been fighting almost nonstop in the Realm of Darkness for 10 years. How strong is SHE?
Scorpionspear77 The title of Keyblade Master has nothing to do with strength. Its given to those who have control over their light and darkness, this is why both Aqua and Riku are masters.
Man, it must've been so weird to Japanese players and people getting leaked videos of this way back then. Not understanding what the FUCK this secret boss was talking about and just what it all meant.
I remember watching videos of this fight years and years ago, before the release of bbs. The quality was horrible, the text was in Japanese and I had absolutely no clue what was going on! My English was so poorly I couldn't even find some answers on international forums. To me lingering will was just "some dude Sora will defeat again after this in kh3" - which I thought was about to be released in a year or two. Oh, silly me.
*Imagine Sora's reaction when he sees Terra in his armor in KHIII* Sora: W-wait. I know you now Terra: You do? Sora: Y-you're that suit of armor that I fought last year. Terra: What suit of armor? Sora: The one at the keyblade graveyard. The one that I thought was empty. Terra: Oh, you're talking about Lingering Will. That was actually my mind inside that suit of armor. Lol Sora: RUN! HE'S GONNA KILL US ALL RUN AWAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!! Terra: Uhhh Aqua: What did you do that made him so scared of you. Terra: Nothing Aqua: Riku, Sora needs mental help and consoling Riku: Plz don't drag me into this. Make Lea do it, he always gets stuck with the icky jobs anyway Lea: Don't drag me into it Aqua: Go help Sora Lea: Why do I always get stuck with the icky jobs?
That save at 9:50 though. Audibly sucked in air watching that dodge. Don't get me wrong, the rest of the fight was fun to watch too, but damn... good job.
this is a hard as hell battle with one badass soundtrack. your timing has to be on point in order to survive this guys attacks and boy is he relentless. use of what little terrain you have can also put you at an advantage by allowing you to take some of his charges.
One of my favorite bosses in gaming. What seperates him, in my opinion, from other difficult bosses is, you have your chances to fight back. A boss fight is like a dance, you find your flow and it becomes a breeze. Only problem is, bosses becomr easy because all they provide is a dance, with no added challenge. Lingering will is different. Even if you memorize the dance, he has the capability to absolutely destroy you if you mess up. But thanks to the ability that keeps you at one health, you can get a full demonstration of his jaw dropping power and speed, allowing you to fully appreciate the bosses attacks. And thanks to that ability, he moments of taking a quick breather, and the absurd time he stays in stun, you not only have your chance to attack, but to destroy him how he destroys you. It keeps what should easily be a one sided fight feeling more like a fair match of mastery, how well can you keep up, how quick can you react, how much can you do, and with how little can you do it. This fight is a test of mastery, and only masters can finish it. That's why I love it so much, despite the bosses strength, it feels fair, it gives you chances to attack and deal great damage, and punishes you for being lazy. It feels like what a boss fight SHOULD be. Oh and music is godly too. Thanks for reading, goodnight
Yeah, that's why I say it's useful for the more early stages. Afterwards, you're better off saving magic for Thundaga to stop him from using "Heartless Angel", and whatever your choice, best to save that last bit of your magic for Curaga.
Imagine if there was a secrete boss battle where you as Sora, Donald, and Goofy had to defeat a tag team of Sephiroth and Lingering Will? My response to that is: HAHA! *_FUCK NO!_*
Kudos for beating him. But I gotta say, he really had a great time with you, huh? xD He kept getting you with the bow-move, his 3-hit combo and the gears in his berserk mode.
Wait, this takes 23 minutes? At level 99? I mean you did kind of make it hard on yourself by having kingdom key, guard break, slapshot and dodge slash equipped, but how?
Hes just meditating to gain passive experience points while doing mental combat training. Then these 3 goofy ass idiots showed up out of nowhere. He then tests his training against them. Got beaten by Sora and goes back to meditate on why he lost lol...
The thing that makes Lingering Will difficult is that he's got this ridiculously cheap invincibility barrier on him 90% the time, he'd be basically a cakewalk without that.
Poor Nico......he's a beast but...Lingering Will I know all too well...if more ferocious then a Dark Souls Boss. (In my opinion. Won't say it to be true.)
DarknessSlayer yup he is, its simply impossible to defeat him on your first 10 tries tomorrow we will witness nico's butt getting handed to him haha can't wait
If that were the case, I bet Xehanort would have lost in seconds, and Terra would likely have been able to drive Xehanort's heart from his body and reclaim it on his own! XD
Am I the only one who noticed that the armor was breathing? Why does an empty, possessed suit of armor need to breathe? Does it convert oxygen into magic? Please answer my questions, Nomura!
As much as I hate this fight I still think it’s my favorite of the series. I lost to him a lot to the point where I could read his movements. The only thing I couldn’t master was his curse move because I would have low health and it would one shot me. Whenever he rages I perfect block every single hit. I shed tears of joy when I got the last hit.
VictiniExpert2400 LW has lots of move and a VERY random AI. It can and will break a pattern to throw you off. Quite often I got lulled into a false sense of security by him using the same move over and over again, only to have him switch patterns (sometimes even in the middle of a move) and screw me over that way.
what killed me the most was when he started spamming "escape/fall" while aiming ultima canons at me. I'd get close and that would deck me every single time.
word of advice pal when u do this on critical: summon stitch to help u out. no, seriously. he's MORE help than donald and goofy put together! he refills your magic and even distracts the LW for u!
Terra's mind been here biding his time in the armour for over 10 years, refining his skills. Improving on his weaknesses, and gained new power. He's been grinding for so long, and now its time for him to wreck some of Xehanorts sh*t. all 13 of them.
Unimportant now, but I just realized that this is the first instance where they showed a Keyblade morph into another weapon like we do in KH3. I feel kind of stupid now not to realize the potential they had.
This boss was the most hardest boss I ever beat in my entire career in video gaming. In fact I was playing on critical mode and it took me 15 hours to beat this asshole. It destroyed me, my sanity, and nearly broke my controller because of how many deaths I suffered from. But when I finally did it, oh the feeling of accomplishment it was.
Well, this guy clearly puts Sephiroth to shame! :P Also, just to note, I've only played Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, none of the others. I plan to do so sooner or later, but I just don't have much interest for the time being. I like watching though. :)
Holy fuck that was intense. THEY EXPECT HUMANS TO BE ABLE TO DO THIS? That was amazing man. I wonder how many people on earth have actually beat this. Good job.
Story behind lingering will 4 those of u who dk: Lingering will is the embodiment of Terra's mind. When sora and riku were just 4, Terra and Aqua visited destiny islands and Terra bequeathed the Kingdom Key to Riku. Later, as the darkness was swallowing DI, the key found Sora's heart stronger than Riku and it chose sora instead. Thats why lingering will was confused and tried to destroy sora
Rai Alvis yeah, a while after posting this comment I realized I was probably really underleveled for both Lingering Will and the last fight in Cavern of Remembrance. I still made it though CoR after like 20 deaths, but yeah.
For the first group of health bars it didnt seem so bad, you are able to dodge/ fly out of the way or block most attacks and knock him up in the air and stun him long enough for a combo. Then you get to the last 7 health bars and holy shit it ramps up
There is actually a cheap trick that I've seen people use, it's where you equip fenrir, which has a negative conbo ability, and you take off all of your specialty moves, as well as any combo pluses and finishers, as well as high jump if you have it and then it's all about timing, block and get to attack, if timed properly with 1 jump attack at a time, you can infinite combo that one jump attack until you kill him and he will never be able to combo break, you see there is a hidden revenge counter if you will that bosses have in the game that determine whether they will use a combo breaker or counterattack, well with terra assuming you have only a 1 hit combo with no combo finisher, in theory his revenge counter will never increase, therefore he will just stand there taking hit after hit from the 1 hit combo until he is inevitably beaten
