To be super fair, it looks like she was kicking his ass until he tried shooting Ven to make her drop her guard to defend him. Vanitas has gotten his butt kicked by Aqua enough times he's probably learned not to fight fair against her if he can help it.
KingIshimaru Still it was a horribly stupid way to lose, doesn’t she have REFLECT? Why the heck is she taking a fire ball to the face when you can just throw it back? Though the only reason she probably lost was because the plot demanded it.
I think he sounds like Jerome after he got revived. Especially the scratchy voice he does in this game. I think he did that to try to differenciate further between Sora and Vanitas.
Jason Nguyen lol yeah. I think it’s to show how venomous Vanitas is, especially in this game because it’s not just a change of voice but also acting itself. He sounds much more malicious in this game
Actually hael joel osment said that its easier voicing vanitas than voicing sora because its pretty much his normal voice. However the studio had to mod vanitas voice to sound more sinister and modded sora's voice to sound more youthful as they could get.
matthewy2j speaking of Mark Hamill, Haley Joel might be doing a Master Xehanort impression though because Vanitas is a Xehanort vessel and Xigbar’s voice is starting to sound like he’s imitating Leonard Nimoy lol, which makes sense because both Vanitas and Xigbar are probably becoming more and more Xehanort
@@claireaquos6532 Where do the games mention time is at a still for Ventus? It makes sense, considering neither he nor Aqua have aged at all, but I don't remember an excuse being made for him. I know that there is no concept of time in the realm of darkness. Was there something special about the room he was in or..? Also for Terra. Maybe *he* was lost to darkness, but Xehanort was using his body, so shouldn't he have technically been aging? It's like giving up and repenting to our lorde and saviour Light-Kun 10 years later gives everyone a free pass.
Yeah, that fight was the worst! Ironically, it was his near death experience with Aqua in that fight that likely led him to pulling the stunt he did here, lol. I really wish their past conflicts actually got resolved, but no one *really* wins in this fight, Vanitas just kinda decides to be under-handed and end the fight by going after Ventus (which doesn't exactly prove anything other than that he was losing, so it's an empty victory that I can't really appreciate either way). I guess it was better than taking another L, but he could've just ran away and probably lost less dignity.
Ventus: *Socks him in the face.* 😠 Sora: Ow! What was that for?! 😢 Ventus:..............just making sure...... Sora: 😟 Aqua: 🤭🤔 Donald and Goofy: *Exist* Ventus: Call me Ven! 😊 Sora:🤨🤷♂️😁
I know this isn't related to this battle but there's this light novel or something that portrays vanitas in a tragic light: Acc. to it, vanitas used to want ventus but they cannot be kept with each other since vanitas is hurting ventus. That's one of the reasons why ventus was sent to be cared by master eraqus. During their time apart vanitas felt lonely without Ventus and was jealous that ven could be happy while he wasn't. since the negativity came from him, the unversed start appearing, vanitas tried to kill them but not without experiencing the pain since they are part of him, he continued this self destructive behavior for somd time until he collapsed. ; that's where master xehanort told him about the X-blade and he would be complete with ven through it. That explains his obssession with the X-blade and how he desperately wants to fuse with Ven. He's one sad dude if you look at that source material tbh
Ventus: 'use the power of waking' Sora: 'I don't have it yet Ventus: 'yes you do, you only have to wish for it' Sora: So spending approximately 24 hours doing absolutely nothing in Disney world's was a waste of time?' Ventus: 'Yep' Sora: 'That's not really epic'
The Power of Waking seem to be linked to Dream Eaters, as they defend people from Nightmares and devour the malevolent Spirits Riku gained Dream Eater powers and was able to awaken Sora from slumber at end of DDD Sora and Riku awakened worlds lost in slumber by unsealing the Sleeping Keyholes, which unsealing 7 fully develop the Power of Waking Sora as result of those adventures, may have been close or actually succeeded in gaining Dream Eater powers too, but the Organization nearly turning him into a Dark Vessel made him forget all his skills from that adventure His KH 3 adventure was to rebuild his lost power and gain new skills Him adventuring, helping others and bonding with them, and fighting Heartless was the training he needed to regain his lost strength Yes Sora may have the skill all along, but he needed time to rebuild his lost strength to be able to do it Ventus simply told him he was ready to use it
Yeah, I thought it was kind of funny how they made in cannon reason as to why there are invisible barriers to keep you in. Just make one with magic, or something...
i shed one single tear when sora released ventus' heart. the fact that it was revealed later that ventus knew everything that sora was doing made it better
So Vanitas won the match, Aqua literally got nerfed, 10 years of fighting the Heartless in the Realm of Darkness should made her the most powerful Keyblade Wielder by now.
This, 10000% So glad someone finally said it, lol. If Sora went from being weaker than Maleficent, Hades, and Pete at the beginning of the game, to as strong as he is by the end of the game, then it makes no logical sense that a Keyblade Master who's been fighting canonically buffed(stronger than normal) heartless for over 10 YEARS gets *weaker* than before.
Aqua was SUPER nerfed in this game it’s not even funny. Why did she not put a BARRIER around herself and deflect his attack. She also could’ve attacked him before he could shoot the wall again but NOPE, gotta have some reason for Aqua to be almost killed and for Ven to wake up :/ Goddamn. Aqua’s only moment to shine in the whole game and it’s completely robbed from her.
Jer turning to the side of dark temporary and she did sit for few months talking with angel the wise and darkness eats away at you from the inside and she did just receive a beating from sora a few minutes before the vanitas fight
@@nekogamer2508 Aqua in this game is pure trash... lost all of his battles, she and Ventus needed help from Sora to defeat Terranort and Vanitas... a battle she had previously won in the end of BBS completely ALONE without having all the battle experience she has now, 10 years of facing monstrosities in the Realm of Darkness like The Dark Hide... to come out weaker than before.
2:19 I don't why but the moment when the camera move around aqua and the song volume increased and aqua getting ready for the fight just give me goosebumps 💖
2:24 - This was the moment I got probably the biggest shivers in my life and spent the next few hours finishing KH and I felt absolutely high, while doing that. What a game, I'm happy this exists, because it's very hard to deliver the same charm to a game from a decade ago, yet they managed to do that.
This’ll be the 4th time he gets his shit handed to him by Aqua. I honestly kinda wish before he faded away, Aqua gave him a sort of triumphant smirk or something cause honestly, I like the rivalry between Aqua & Vanitas more than Ven & Vanitas.
True, and there was really no point in making her lose anyway. It didn't help Vanitas' character, it robbed Aqua of her only moment to shine, and it resulted in cheap, momentary drama that added nothing.
It was necessary for Aqua to he in danger to give Ven the motivation to free himself. Though it was pretty much a repeat of what happened when he unfroze himself to save Aqua in BBS...saving her from Vanitas...in the exact same position... They could have come up with a better way to do it. I agree this was Aqua’s time to shine and it was sort of robbed from her.
@@Gamelover254 Thing is, Ven was going to get restored anyway. Sora just, for some reason, neglected to tell Aqua that Ventus' heart was within him when they met, and he didn't mention the power of waking, so she was confused as to why Ventus was even still asleep upon arrival. What Sora does to release Ventus' already awakened heart (the power of waking) could have still happened even if Vanitas lost his battle with Aqua. We see him (Sora) physically release Ven's heart with his own power, and nothing in this scene really implied that Ventus needed to be *provoked* before he could be released. That was never stated to be a requirement to use the power of waking, so the logic just doesn't have a strong foundation in my eyes. And yeah, glad we can agree they did Aqua dirty here either way.
You know how they could have made this scene better? Make everything the same except that when Vanitas shoot firaga towards Ventus, Aqua actually reflect it. But while the smoke of the attack is surrounding her, Vanitas sneak behind her and attack her from behind. The rest play the same. There. Fixed.
Why did they nerf Aqua so much in this game? Sora easily defeats her anti form, she gets taken out by Vanitas when she has easily defeated him in the past, she is too slow to prevent Terranort from hurting Ven and she just gives up when the demon tide overtakes her. For someone who single handedly defeated Venitas, Terranort and spent more than a decade in the realm of darkness, they did her real dirty in this game.
The explanation is that her time in the Realm of Darkness weakened her slightly & she didn’t have time to recover after being saved but I’m still calling a bit of bullshit. Every character in this game besides Sora was practically useless. It unfortunately succumbed to DBZ syndrome. Characters who were once strong are now made weak just to make the main protagonist seem stronger.
@@Gamelover254 Really, the problem with the explanation they use is that it's entirely contradictory to Sora's own growth in power within this game. At the beginning of Kh3 he was stated to be weaker than Pete, Maleficent, and Hades. So much so that they were mocking him for it. How does a "Keyblade Master" who spends *years* fighting in the RoD against what were canonically stated to be much stronger heartless than those in the RoL, get weaker? It's especially hard to swallow when you look at just how quickly Sora grows in power over kh3 alone (not that much time at all), and most of his abilities appearing without any explanation to them.
Well you know that it has been always like "light wins against darkness" so Sora could win that battle, but come on, Aqua had already defeated terranort and vanitas in the past, why did terranort almost trashed them alone? Only to make Sora important in the battle.
"Quick ! I am a Keyblade Master and great Mage, as well as one of the few characters to know the Barriere Spell, which is super OP ! Imma just stand right before that fire attack without trying to protect myself from it ! Truly my best idea ever !"
@@lucleadergaming3487 Not in my experience........Out of Ventus, Terra and Aqua, I found her to be stronger. She was the first that I was able to beat Vanitas Remnant with, and the one I came closest to defeating the Mysterious Figure/Young Xehanort with. I got that guy down to one last hit, and then he nailed me.......Words can't describe how furious I was!
1:32 so aqua has now the ability to jump 10 meters above ground and levitate for about 8 seconds, long enough for vanitas to be able to say a word, all of this while they're dueling keyblades and then able to give enough force with her keyblade to end the dueling and make distance plus able to perform a perfect backflip and land on two of her feet perfectly. Ending it with just a half a second sigh. Why am i questioning logic in a square enix game? Idk it's been a while since i've played one. Also, *AqUa, I'lL HanDlE HiM*
"Now it's MY turn to shine" I was expecting Aqua to summon ice cubes, teleport, clone herself, you know, the same bullshit that she did whilst in Anti-Aqua form. What she did in Spell Weaver as Anti-Aqua, that shit one shot me.
If there's a clear message in Kingdom Hearts is that arrogancy always leads to demise. When Riku said "my heart's strong", he got possessed. When Aqua said "my heart's strong. I'll prove it." she ended up getting consumed by the darkness. When she said "It's my turn to shine", Vanitas wiped the floor with her and almost assassinated her. After Sora made fun of Young Xehanort's advices, he ended up vanishing from his world. It's such a cliché at this point because of how many times it's been used in the series, but I love the message it gives.
Call it cliche if you want it's still a valid part of Aqua's personaility, her refusing to ask for help is her biggest flaw and what lead her to falling into the realm of darkness in the first place. After hiding Ven she should've asked Mickey to help her look for Terra, if he had been there she could've been saved. It's tragic what happened to her but it was her own fault. All three of the trio had vices that lead to their horrible fates and she's no different.
I feel like they should've given the 2 a better reunion, but Aqua's seductive "Good Morning" is notification worthy. Can we get an Aqua version of Siri or Cortana? I need this voice to respond to me whenever I ask it mundane questions out of boredom.
Best part for me was at 7:28 never thought he would get out that chair in years. Wait no the best part was seeing ven and roxas eyeing each other. No the best part was seeing xion axel and roxas back together. No the best part was seeing terra take back his body with his own strength...JUST EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS FUCKING GAME WAS THE BEST...(except the ending)
Aqua’s defense for losing is her still recovering and is still weakened, maybe even lost some strength after Anti-Aqua’s destruction While it seems Vanitas is even more powerful than he was in BBS as it seems being in a Replica vessel and having a portion of Master Xehanort’s heart made him stronger than before It might have been different if Aqua was at full strength as she spent a decade fighting heartless in the Realm of Darkness where they’re even stronger than the ones in the real world, and she beaten Terranort before being trapped before
Yeah Sora asked if she wanted to go recover with Riku and Mickey first so she was still recovering. Honestly I think even weakened she was still winning which is why Vanitas started using cheap moves like going after Ven's body.
I disagree. Aqua "lost" to vanitas because vanitas is playing dirty by threatening ventus' unconscious body. Aqua clearly won this fight and could've easily finished vanitas off if vanitas didn't use ventus as a hostage/distraction.
@all of the kingdom heart characters honestly Body type respect just isn't a thing on most games And in the few where there are chunky beans they are over exaggerated to be less apealling Honestly The gerudo in LoZ BoTW are so cute That Is doing body types right But even then The ladies are all mostly one body type The gerudo ladies are as close as it gets to having more body types But Hey At least it's not anime girl bodies So it's slowly improving Still aqua is cool
As a person who is mid level skilled ast KH, I was pleasantly surprised how dominant it was to play as Aqua, wish there was the option to play as different characters
In all seriousness this game desperately needed more moments like this where you can play as other characters from the series. And, y'know, this really should've happened after, like, 4 or maybe 6 Disney worlds so there was some story between all the BUY OUR MERCH. Surely they could've come up with another excuse apart from the Power of Waking to romp around the other worlds.
@Yukheis Fanboy The graveyard predates prophecy, I mean- It is a result of the war that kicked things off as far as lore goes.. I can only imagine a Keyblade can be used by anyone with strong convictions, whether they be of light or dark, but the uniqueness of the Keyblade is in the ability to master it, which I imagine requires an even greater power or strength of heart. Kingdom Hearts (the game's lore) kind of botched it's lore by making a lot of assumptions in the very first game. At first it was always "Sora's the Keyblade Master! He's the *one* who will restore the balance!", but halfway through that very same game, they established that there can be more than one keyblade wielder,(Riku and Mickey) and then further down the line they made a turn and said "Oh, yeah, no.. You can swing one around, but there's a difference between that and *mastering* it.". Which is why I'm fairly certain a majority of those keyblades at the graveyard belonged to merely strong hearted people whose conviction was to claim the power of Kingdom Hearts.(The light) It's confirmed that the Keyblade was originally built for that purpose, after all. So, see? It wasn't meant to be prophetic, but *after* the worlds fell, it became that one light would save the worlds.. It just so happen that *Sora's* light touched the hearts of most everyone around him, and of those, the strongest would share in the destiny that is becoming a Guardian of Light. I know it barely makes sense, but that's the convuluted plot of Kingdom Hearts in a nutshell, and it's through that explanation that I can somewhat redeem the Keyblade's quality of being "unique", but it's more like "The heart of a keyblade *master* is unique", and not so much the keyblade itself.
And in some time, modders would enter the scene, adding Vanitas' random afterimage and teleport counterattack, the shadow clones from his lingering will battle, the dark jaws attack that darkens the whole screen, his Dark Splicer.... and add Aqua's Magic Hour, Teleport Spike...
Honestly, I after only playing as Sora and Riku at this point((and barely Riku, he kinda got the shaft after 3DS with a whole two segments), the game full on letting you play as Aqua,, the protagonist of BBS and 0.2 hit me hard, and showing off her moves from them was so nice. Still annoyed Vanitas beat her, damn she should have bodied him but I get Ven needing a cool appearance.
I don’t like vanitas has a deeper grouchier voice now Haley did it perfectly In bbs it was a perfect “evil sora” voice now it just doesn’t sound right (specially during his fight in the graveyard)
I'm okay with it. Osment had fun voicing Vanitas this time around, you can tell just by the cutscenes. Aqua, on the other hand, sounded flat except for the one line "Good morning, Ven".
I haven't finished yet, but I hope the dlc will let you switch out sora for aqua or riku. It just sucks that so far you can only play them at select times. That's why I loved bbs
Damn Vanitas got loads of HP after what I've seen in BBS. Also, he screams like Peter Pan does in BBS when you knock him up. Aqua got pummeled by a fireball instead of parrying with a barrier.
9:13 The voice direction is just so weird. Canonically, Aqua has this big sister/mom relationship with Ventus, but here, she sounds like she's into /ss/.
Yes! My girls and boys! :D Ventus and Aqua. It's been a long time since I have played KH: Birth By Sleep. It left me a cliffhanger. And this made me very happy.
I did this fight yesterday, and the way Sora, Donald, and Goofy all just watch reminded me of fighting games where animated spectators watch the fight.
is anyone seeing the parallels between 3 and the previous games? like this scene where it is very reminiscent of kh1 where sora comes to kiari to wake her and finds her heart left her body and ansem in rikus body (which when he was possessed looked like vanitas) talksand fight insues and sora then asks how he can wake her up then uses the keyblade or peoples hearts to release her. similar to this scene very much plus how sora is the one to again ask how to wake ventus up only this time instead he uses his own keyblade and the power of waking on his heart to release ventus.
