Master Xehanort; As I recall, you couldn't even handle your own darkness. Later sees Terra hijack his own enslaved shadow and wreck house. Master Xehanort: ...Well, so that's what my words taste like.
To be fair that’s not his darkness that betrays him but Terra I think until now Terranort has Terra’s body, but his soul and will resides in the Lingering Will, after being destroyed, Terra’s soul flows back into Terranort, making him complete but liable to be turned by Terra as he did later on which was his undoing
Lyana Ara He said that because Ven was just letting it go and Sora didn’t agree. The Vanitas at the end was him expressing his discontent to the subject in question since Ven wasn’t
BurittaKittyNeko I really disagree, Vanitas sounds like a weird gremlin in this game. I prefer BBS edgy Sora over this one. Honestly his character has been kinda ruined. Sure he was an edge lord in BBS but he was still a cool villain in a Saturday morning cartoon sense, but now he’s become kind of a creepy jobber.
@@docilecatfish1370 If you notice the voice actors cleverly distinguished the clone voices (Roxas Ventus/ Sora Vanitas) It was so weird could easily tell who is who and having their own voice.
I like Vanitas his no nonsense reply here. Most org members seem to go down semi redeemed, or at least friendly ish way (which I don't mind honestly but it does make me happy it didn't happen to all of the darknesses) Vanitas is just like, I'm darkness, It's nothing personal, this is just what I am, i'm fine where I am thanks, deal with it. I also like his answer when asked why he is on the side of darkness. he IS darkness. It's almost funny even. vanitas doesn't need to be evil as darkness does not equal evil and light does not equal good in this franchise. (Something we have already seen for example in Riku). Maybe he will come back at some point as an anti hero of sorts. Maybe not. Maybe he just went back to Ven's heart. Either way however I think the way he went down here fitted him very well.
I really liked the line to Sora “I am the part of Ventus that was taken away, and you are the part he needed to be whole again.” Newfound respect for Vanitas as a villain
Amberanime, i hope he will be back, he is my favourite villain because he is so interesting and scary. As he said he is part of Ventus and Sora so as long as they exist so does he. Im sure he will be back to where he belongs someday, but theres no hurry, i like him this way! :-)
The way Vanitas went out fit him perfectly. He stood by what he represents, without faltering like everyone else did. He owned what he is, because that’s the *way* it is, and I can respect that.
Pretty Handsome well Aqua is the only Keyblade Master out of the three. Aqua: Ven go play with your Chirithy. I need to teach Terra some private lessons.
Oh my god you actually can! That's such a small detail, they totally didn't have to include it in the game, but damn it just makes this scene THAT much better. Great game man, holy shit 10/10
Terra in BBS: Aqua...Ven... one day, I will set this right. Terra in KH3: One day I will set this right. Me: omyghod!!!!!!! You finally did!!! I’m crying!!
I honestly really like the Vanitas's part. "What I am is Darkness". One thing that annoyed the fuck out of me is how Sora would always choose that every character he met should be a part of the light. So for Vanitas to say "Fuck that, I'm Darkness", is a lot more powerful than people give credit.
If you're wondering what happened to the Lingering Will, he was merged with his Heartless, Xehanort's Guardian, so he could take his body back. It's practically confirmed by an optional conversation Sora can have with Namine in the Final World before he pieces himself together.
Nah the lingering will is just that lingering will. It probably used up all that was left of itself fighting Terranort. Although Namine did wake it up. The Guardian was always terra's heartless so when it heard Aqua and Ven he started to revert to his self
@@anselmo499 And didn't they time travel back to before they catastrophically lost, I mean the scene repeated itself perfectly until LW Deus ex Machina'ed in to save the day.
Holy shit...this actually made me cry I could feel terra aqua and vens pain and relief when they reunited no other game has actually brought me to tears before wth...
Seriously ever since i experienced the sad BBS ending this is the reunion i wanted most each of then suffered so much but never lost hope and were reunited once again so heartachingly emotional but happy
Honestly, everyone keeps cracking jokes about Ven's acceptance of Vanitas' choice, but he sounds so FRUSTRATED at Vanitas' response. He's completely beyond irritated that, despite severing him from Xehanort and his control over him, Vanitas still chooses to isolate himself and accept darkness as his only means of existence. Especially when Vanitas seems to almost hesitate when Ven calls him out on his bullshit; that he should be free to choose his own life without Xehanort controlling it, but he still defaults to the loneliness and negativity he's been trapped in for years because it's all he's ever known and, as far as he's concerned, all he can ever BE. This scene gives me hope for a future redemption arc for Vanitas. Ven and Sora's joint frustration at Vanitas' choice, and Vanitas' half-second hesitation before inevitably accepting his fate has me convinced that, somewhere along the way, Sora and Ven will get through to him and help him form his own identity (and not just settling to be "Sora's shadow" or "Ven's missing half").
But that's the thing that Vanitas realised, if he isn't Sora's shadow, then he'd become 'another' sora that's aligned with the light. Let's face it, there are many of another light Soras. This is what Vanitas realized and it is made worse by the fact the he resembled Sora the most when he shouldn't be (it should be Roxas, Sora's literal body but even he got lucky to look different enough to be set apart from him). So he realized that if he chose light, he'd be a bad copy of Sora. At least with darkness and by being Sora's is exclusive to him. No one can claim that.
@@slameradon165 I went and watched some vids to check, I dont think theyre Unversed logos. Rage form doesnt stand still long enough to get a good look tho ^^;
That's actually very cool possibility if true and makes perfect sense. Even more if hes also been stalking Sora unconsciously as many dark counterparts like KH1 Shadow Sora.
This made me BAWL! I feel for the 358 trio, but the BBS trio are my precious babies who did nothing wrong to deserve their fates... So their reunion had me screaming!!
@@vincentcolon7216 in that case, that makes terra even worse. It makes sense that someone like riku gets manipulated by her considering he didnt know shit about hearts, darkness, light keyblades ect. Everything he learned about the World, he learned from her. But the fact that Terra, who has spent years training with master eraqus, would be dumb enough to be manipulated by literally everyone speaks volumes. Hell, even riku disliked maleficent and saw that she was evil, but decided to use her to further his goal of saving kairi. Terra just couldnt be bothered to put two plus two together
@@aricenteI know I’m late, while you’re not wrong, I’ve always seen Terra being KH’s equivalent to Anakin, in the sense that he, like Anakin, wasn’t exactly trusted by his master and who also craved for that title of “Master”. Because of his inability to control himself, self-doubt, vulnerability and ultimately, the strained relationship between him and Eraqus, he was easy prey to Master Xehanort’s machinations, similar to how Anakin was vulnerable to Palpatine’s manipulations.
God the music in all these fights is just orgasmic. All reimagined versions of their respective boss fights, sometimes even combining them when there are multiple.
kinda wish that sora didn't have to butt into every fight. it was physically impossible. this game should've let you freely use and switch between the other characters.
all of them were at some point actually... Roxas, Xion, Terra, Ventus, even Axel. oh except Kairi though lol. What i think they should've done was use the party system like the tales series (allowing you to switch party leaders during combat)
@@jaz9684 Oh, I meant Aqua and Riku were already playable IN THIS GAME, so at the very least if they didn't want to make Ven, Terra, Axel, etc playable they already had Aqua and Riku done. I think I get why they didn't make them all playable just for essentially one battle (...which they did to Aqua), but I think I would've been fine with Aqua being the player character for the BBS stuff with Ven and LW (and later Terra) as party members, player!Riku with Mickey and Kairi and in a perfect world player!Roxas with Xion and Axel.
jaz9684 I hope Kingdom Hearts 4 has different campaigns like in Birth By Sleep. I'd love to see a campaign with the normal Sora, Donald, and Goofy trio along with different campaigns for... 1) Riku, Mickey, & Kairi 2) Aqua, Terra, & Ven 3) Roxas, Xion, & Lea
@Burg Skeletal i'd so love that too, but i doubt its gonna happen. i have nothing against disney, but i hate how almost the entire content of the game is taken by carbon copied scenes from there. the only way they could ever do it right in kh4 with this many characters is to 1. allow changing party leaders and player control can switch during battle 2. perhaps sora can't be removed from the main party but allow the player to put in others besides donald and goofy. The kiseki and tales games allow that so why not this?
Someone in the comments mentioned that Ventus sounded completely frustrated with Vanitas' choice here, and I agree, but I think that's because Sora and Ven both fail to understand Vanitas' feelings on the matter. After this scene, I’m under the impression that Vanitas doesn’t want to be saved anymore, or even forge the X-blade. The expression he had on his face was completely different from what he had in BBS. (Reaching desperately for the X-blade, with “Why...?” as his final words) He went through hell and back with only himself to truly rely on. His issues revolve around negativity and parts of his heart. It’s all intrinsic, and in real life they’re often the most challenging because they’re intangible. BBS shows us that others would have broken if they were in his shoes. In many ways, he’s strong and he has a lot to be proud of. ⠀ If Ventus wasn’t “okay” with him after that last battle, he would’ve fought him again. I’m sure of it. That look in his eyes looked like a challenge, and there's something he's still fighting for. This time, his last words are "Need... the rest of me...!" If there’s anything I learned over the years it’s that getting the best parts of you to accept the worst parts cause the greatest conflict. A war within yourself. It could mean anything, but I think he needed the rest of him to just be okay with what he is. ⠀ Absolute self-acceptance is the key. It’s not going to happen overnight. It took one heart years and years. You don’t need to change to anyone else’s design, when you’re satisfied with who you are. You don’t need to be saved when you have the power to save yourself. After all, "we decide what we are".
@@tyriancross He probably froze up again. The way I understand it, it takes a lot of willpower for Terra's heart to make the armor fight, and most of the time it's dedicated to fighting off Xehanort's influence, so he has to let that slide a bit if he wants to have the Will fight.
Wise One1494 Well Ansem was controlling it, terra could only watch, that’s why when they summon the guardian they cross their arms, it’s to have full control
I just love that even while not sharing a heart, Sora and Ven are so alike that they say the same things without even realizing it. AND LOOK AT HOW VEN TRIED TO FIGHT AT SORA'S SIDE DESPITE BEING THROWN AROUND LIKE A RAG DOLL AAAAHHHHH. I STILL WISH THE TWO OF THEM HAD HUGGED BUT WHATEVER.
Ventus: "We should be free to choose. Not just light, not just darkness. We decide what we are" Me: Nice one, Ventus. You stole Sora's thunder there. It sounds like something Sora WOULD say
*fight ansem sod kh1* Me: GOD, THIS GUARDIAN IS ANNOYING AS HELL. GO TF AWAY. I JUST WANNA FINISH THIS FIGHT, DAMN! *find out it's Terra* Me: BABY, NO! I'M SORRY! I DIDN'T MEAN IT! COME HERE, YOU CAN HUG ME ALL YOU WANT! D;
@@R3L1T Why would Terra hate us? We love and sympathize with him. We've never been possessed by a psychopath, but I'm pretty sure everyone here has been forced to do something they really don't want to do.
The moment when Terra free himself from the darkness and said "one day i'll set this right" was my favorite in the game and gave me chills. Between the first triad he's one of nicest even if Aqua is the sweetest one.
*after the cutscene* Terra: I wonder what happened to my armor *meanwhile in the arena of Lingering Will* L.W: what, oh, he's back, well I'm gonna stay here and kick more ass
A reminder that the *remnants* of Terra, his heartless and the Lingering Will are some of the strongest beings we have seen in Kingdom Hearts. The Guardian is impervious to even a *Keyblade,* and the Lingering Will Just went back to sleep after Sora put every bit of strength he had into fighting the Lingering Will. Lingering Will also completely destroyed Terranort, who had the experience of a Keyblade Master and Terra’s own body. These are literally just *remnants* of Terra. Terra is by far the strongest Keyblade wielder of all, bar none!
After all the pain and suffering vanitas had gone through, he finally succeeded in finding his place. He finally found who he was, but through pain and sorrow, in which he was wallowed through, and could never truly be released. Like a dark hero never redeemed, too far gone, and defined by birth. What he is IS darkness, the darkness of suffering and despair. Of course sora would wonder how that's okay. But at least knowing yourself is the first step to recovery.
Vanitas's death reminded me, that there existed a novel where Vanitas was a child in his older body. And that defeating the unversed hurt him physically even. The scene was genuinely sad, and his smile... oof. I remember, he didn't have a face back then either...
Did anyone else realize that Terra's first words (REAL terra, meaning Terranort's Guardian) after ripping off the bandages was the SAME exact words as his final words in Terra's ending of Birth By Sleep? Damn, that hit me hard.
I'm so torn with this game, the fanboy in me wants to gush all over it, but the objective gamer in me has several issues with it. First, way too easy. You'll breeze through proud mode without a single problem, never used a single kupo coin. The story itself is just...okay. A solid half of the MANY lengthy cutscenes are just characters info-dumping, and it's frankly boring. The combat is fun, but has become more about the spectacle than any actual substance. And yes, I'm sure the optional post game encounters alleviates some of this, but I shouldn't have to play through an entire game before getting to some solid encounters. That being said, I still loved the game. What can I say, I'm a fanboy.
last fight was hard but only cause i was underleveled and hadnt played a kh game in 13 years so i didnt know about shotlocking or w/e on enemies and all the new stuff
It’s definitely weaker than KH2 and imo BBS. I enjoyed it for what is was but at least these battles vs darkness should’ve been harder. Then characters were literally just there and practically served no purpose.
The thing is, you get the sense that Kingdom Hearts is a series that really is made more than anybody for its fans. I mean, how many people are going to play this game who didn't play Union X and are going to be so confused by all those weird names on the UX segment when Sora is fighting the giant Heartless tornado? Nomura panders to his fans like the Roman emperors pandered to their armies-and it works, because it really is his fanbase that keep this series growing, always getting other people into it and spreading the gospel. Honestly, most of the people who even play this game are going to be people who go through the other games, which, if they get that far, will probably make them fanboys anyway. It's only a truly indifferent person who would play this game out of the gate without playing any of the others, knowing full well how much story there is to cover first. But again-Nomura didn't make this game for those people. And God bless him for it.
Imagine that all the main characters have all the skills that we got from the previous games, exported to KH3 save data, and performed them in these battles. That'll be DOPE!
The... acting in this scene actually sounds really off to me. Compared to how he sounded in Monster's Inc and Land of Departure. Maybe it's supposed to reflect his mood right now, I don't know. Don't like it. And I was really looking forward to Vanitas. xD
I think it’s the mood because if you compared those other scenes he was more full of life and hype but it makes sense why he sounds like that here, he just took an ass whooping of his life and it’s not a scene that he needs to be hype over it’s definitely the mood and tone of the scene
The interaction between the Trio was crucial in every way. True brothers but one didn't choose Darkness...He was darkness incarnate. Like the shadow we cast, when we walk in light. Immovable objects meet unstoppable force.scenario. Even i gotta respect that.
No matter how many times I watch this, I always tear up. This was way more touching than the seasalt trio imo. And I'm so glad Ventus shut Sora up, he shouldn't meddle between Vani and Ven.
