#1 Knights immediately attack the next portal, after destroying one.
#2 Skipping Retaliation
Long Description:
#1 Knights don't retreat after destroying a portal
Usage:
Save after destroying a portal and before the knights turn back. (The timing can be difficult.)
On the next reload of the game, the knights will move to the next portal, instead of running back to your wall.
Why it works:
A specific value tells the knights to move towards the next portal on their side when you command them to attack.
After destroying a portal this value changes and the knights run back to your kingdom.
This value doesn't instantly change after destroying a portal.
There is a small time frame, between the destruction of a portal and the turning back of the knights, where the value is still set, so that the knights move towards the next portal (if there is one).
#2 Skipping Retaliation
If one of the cliff portals is shattered, there is a chance that no enemies will spawn after the destruction of any other portal (no retaliation).
Usage:
Retaliation waves usually spawn 20 seconds after destroying a portal.
Save the game before these 20 seconds are over.
After reloading the game, there is a chance that no retaliation wave will spawn.
So reload the game and wait for the remaining time. (For example: if you saved 15 seconds after the destruction of a portal, you would wait 5 seconds after reloading a save file.)
You will hear a sound if a portal opened with a retaliation wave.
If this happens, close the game (without saving) and reload again.
Repeat closing and reloading the game until you don't hear the sound.
You successfully destroyed a portal without getting a retaliation wave.
Notes:
If you save the game very late in the 20-second countdown (for example after 19 seconds) you might be unable to hear the opening of a portal.
(After loading a saved game, the audio needs a moment before it starts playing, and the portal may already be open at that point.)
You can also go by the visuals, as the dark sky goes away.
Theory:
The game first decides on which side to spawn the retaliation and if there is no portal left on that side, there can't be a retaliation wave.
It doesn't seem to work if you only destroy all portals on the side without a cliff.
The destruction of a cliff portal seems to be a prerequisite.
