There you have it men...Bruce Dickinson. Bad ass swordsman, writer, radio host, pilot AND the greatest lead singer in rock history. Bruce Dickinson is a role model for any man who seeks the Arthur's Hall vision of manly greatness. LEGENDARY MANLINESS!!! UP THE IRONS!
Have to say, I have rarely seen a great artist like Bruce. 99.95% of his song's (included Iron Maiden) are in my rank nr.1 he has a perfect singing voice for a rock. R.I.P. for everyone in Jokela, Finland. :'( tears of the dragon
Who else could make a hymn adopted by the Women's Institute seem cool? As someone else said, who else in rock would use classic English poetry into their lyrics? Love it. Who else could be a rock god, professional pilot, nationally ranked fencer, military historian, radio host, TV presenter, producer and best selling novelist? Bruce is the man. He is a fucking legend. Up the Irons!
Jerusalem is my all time fav Bruce solo tracks and Kingdom Of Heaven is one of my all time fav films, you combined them brilliant. Excellent! UP THE IRONS!!!
I just read The Missing Years of Jesus by Dennis Price. Then I saw this video from the film Kingdom Of Heaven with Jerusalem and I gotta say it all inspires me to go on the next crusade.
You know i've looked for this song on youtube, and this has got to be the best version, with the exeption of poor fergus from "goosebury's and cinnamon yougurt" Catherine Tate Show. long live Iron Maiden !!
My all-time favorite Bruce Dickinson song, one of my all-time favorite songs by anybody second only to "One" by U2. Glad to see people giving it the love it deserves. It still moves me after every listen.
nice amv ;) Let it rain, let it rain, tears of blood fall out of the sky, Let it rain, let it rain, wash me, clean me again (8) Bruce is simply a master
One thing I will say though that I could not fit into previous comment. Bruce's Scream For Me Brazil beats all of Maidens live albums for me. I'm not sure why I love it so much but the air raid opening, the Brazil fans, the setlist, the sound / production ... just amazing. Beast Over Hammersmith, Maiden England, Live After Death, Rock In Rio etc - all amazing but none of them beat Scream For Me Brazil (my humble opinion).
Rock Trivia: Arthur Brown (god of hellfire) records the spoken word at the end of the song. Brilliant piece of music set to a brilliant set of images from an excellent and under-rated film. Top stuff Rived
JERUSALEM Czy to wśród gór zielonej Anglii Jego krok ongi deptał głaz? O, łuk mi dajcie z żaru złota, A z pragnień moich groty strzał! Dajcie mi włócznię!
Thank you for posting this wonderful song & superb video. When William Blake wrote his original poem, he was writing about an historical event; if anyone's interested in reading more about it, check out the Eternal Idol site and the book, "The Missing Years of Jesus", which incidentally mentions this song by Bruce.
Saint Paul states that Christians will judge Angels. We all have the right to pass any judgment that is just, mindful we are equally answerable to judgment and will be judged by the same laws we judge others. Evil must be fought. I made out my Last Will and Testament as a soldier in the Gulf War. I have no fear of a just God nor of being His instrument.
jerusalem may not have a beach and kinda old, but great feeling of this old accient spirit comes down when entering the city =] "moses was here" and stuff XD wish maiden would come to israel!! great solo btw!
Niech pada deszcz Niech pada deszcz Krwawe łzy rozejdą się po niebie Niech pada deszcz Ponownie mnie obmyje ... Spójrz na błyszczącą iglicę twierdzy Król i królowa zamieszkają W naszych sercach ... Czyż można odbudować Jeruzalem, W tych nic nie znaczących czasach, Na tej ziemi strachu? W Jeruzalem, gdzie spoczywa Graal Podążając w kierunku światła Rozrywając kajdany.
He can prevent evil, but does not because it would take away free will. The price of free will is the prescence of sin. Otherwise we would be mindless drones. There needs to be a balance of good and evil,
Third attempt to post: Blakes original poem is about how England was destroyed by the industrial revolution and no paradise can be built there. There is also references to the myth that Jesus came to England and created Jerusalem there. But it is also discusses the idea of creating a Utopia / paradise in your own country
I did, thanks. There seems to be a whole fictional mythology based on allegory and symbolism. It is hard to know exactly waht he means unless you've been taught that. His paintings are full of freemassonic references (especially this Urizen character) and symbols but they say he was not a fremason himself but had close friends who were.
If you like music, enjoy it and don't look to blame it on religion or all the bad things that may, or may nor happen. I am not an Iron Maiden fan, but I do like heavy metal.....and I ended up on this site by accident, as you do, sometimes...........M Winwood
Good stuff. Though I think it could have been even better. Perhaps to put those green scenes from beginning of the movie when song starts, it fits into lyrics. And when the song gets really intense, put some epic (battle) scene... I don't know, that's how I see it. ;)
Not sure about album vs album but overall I think that Maiden have the edge because they have a lot more outstanding tracks. Like my top 20 favorite Maiden tracks Vs my top 20 favorite Bruce solo tracks, Maiden easily win for me. I know Maiden have a bigger selection of songs to choose from than Bruce solo but still ... Maiden edge it in my book.
Really, everyone talking about war and how it destroys the world, but... have any of you thought in the horses? I mean, those poor creatures surely have suffered ever since they have been used to ride :P
Joeseph of Aramethia was a knight teplar...or at least he's said to be one :) And some say, the templars were in charge of guarding Avalon. But these are the only reasons why i mentioned them :)
Since we do not all share the same educational background...would you care to explain!!I would be very inrerested to hear you out...what is the song about?? (No irony intended)
Actually I was insulting Halford if you didn't realize that. I was calling him out for being gay. And Maiden is better than Priest, and so is Bruce's solo material (at least Accident of Birth and Chemical Wedding)
Does anybody knows the reason of war and killing that is happening in jerusalem, at the past to the present day? Think about it my friends and give me the truely reason for that! Christians and Muslims are brothers, and they shares many things in their religions, but there are some people who are bothered from that, and they hate both of them, and they believe that they are the only chosen ones on earth, well they are wrong. Jerusalem is for all the believers of God.
Could you elaborate, because the following suggests that all three groups believe in the same god: - Muslims regard Jesus as a prophet of God, and Christians regard Jesus as the son of God. - Much of the content of the quran is taken from jewish and christian texts, like stories, commandments, people (and angels) and places of importance for example. - The prophet Mohammed said that jews, christians and muslims were all "peoples of the book". I would welcome a reply with your views.
Fair call...my original post was to the post making connections with the Jerusalem, Isreal. Well, like all texts you can interpret them as you please (and I truely believe that most of the symbols are not intentional) is that a good or bad thing? That's the big question, and a discussion in itself ;-)
Haa haa.. Jerusalem (the song) was visualizd by Bruce as being Englands green hills :) as it's so beutiful maybe Jerusalem (The Holy land) is Englaand! It really has not nothing to do with Religion, he is just using it as a metaphor!
