Kinnan cEDH deck tech 

It feels weird hearing you say "permanent" in the "correct" way...

I don't know about this. I prefer the idea of Chulane Alarm featuring Kinnan. You get to run extra Mana dorks like Avacyn's pilgrim and the treefolk from Eldraine. Chulane provides the draw to keep going off

I like the old way you say “permanent” gave you alot of flare.

I thought about playing tidespout and shreiking drake as another way to win if they get rid of thras. Tidespout is great if u random him out, and drake seems ok if u can give dorks haste its a ritual.

its ok, I have this theory though. and I call it NBC. No bad cards, at least not in something i'd bring to a CEDH table. I think spinning kinnan for value is terrible. The deck either needs to be built that way, with the winnower package, or built to avoid that until it's infinite.

Is Thousand-Year Elixir something that this deck wants?

Seems like a fun deck; i do a similar stuff with arixmethes for my high level-semi competitive deck.

Land, mana crypt, lotus petal, crack the petal and tap the land and cast kinnan, tap the crypt for 3 colorless, cast basalt monolith and make an unnecessarily large number of colorless mana and then cast walking ballista and burn everyone else for game. Rare possibility but possible from opening hand t1

Actually Craterhoof is completely viable when basing your strategy on infinite mana, because Kinnan’s second ability does not require that a creature enter play, so if you hit craterhoof early on while activating Kinnan infinitely, you just deny the action or pick a different creature from among the five and then roll through your deck so that you hit craterhoof last, obtaining maximum value

Something to consider about craterhoof. Finale devastation is great but to win the game with it you have to have infinite mana and dump all your creatures because it gives them haste but no trample. Craterhoof has an immediate impact due to the buff and trample. I’ve literally killed off the two biggest threats with craterhoof in one shot without infinite mana due to his impact . This wouldn’t be the case if I had to wait on infant mana. That’s the problem with kinnan, if you build him for the sole purpose of just waiting on infinite mana you’re going to lose more than you win if you don’t win by turn 3, people will never let your auras resolve or your monolith and you’ll be hoping sitting around that people waste their interaction on others. On a heavier creature build you can be more proactive as permanents are harder to deal with and counter. From my experience with my deck and seen. Having his two card win cons is great ( basalt, freed pemmins mandatory includes) but the focus on creatures that have impact ( void winnorwer, sphynx, Jin- gitaxis, nyxbloom ancient ) added with all the mana dorks and support creatures makes kinnan a early game problem and a late game .

Thanks Mons for the deck tech, but I don't understand the hype over kinnan. He seems like a discount T&T. Maybe that's the point. A nerfed thrasios tymna. It's the same reason I build illuna foodchain. Because it's a worse first sliver and now my cas pods can't whine.

Hey what do you think of using cards like chromatic sphere or Chromatic Star? Or even that newish snow one from modern horizons? They cantrip and net you mana with your commander, let you dig and make your 99 into maybe 96 or something

Thoughtful content dude and love how this build doesn’t focus on Basalt Monolith as I find that infinite colourless puts a huge target on your back without Thrasios already online to win! If you fit a Concordant Crossroads in it ramps you at unfair levels or can be a win con with Kinnan if Finale is dealt with somehow. I also run Vigean Graftmage which gets infinite coloured mana out of nowhere with multiple dorks like Bloom Tender, Incubation Druid, Gyre Engineer etc but admittedly it can be a dead draw if you somehow don’t have the other half of the combo.

I had a hunch kinnan would be really strong when he was released. Do you think he fits inside the 99 of any other cEDH decks.?

I think this will be banned. I don't suggest to invest in a deck with this general at the moment

Are mystic snake and frilled mystic too slow?

Wouldn't careterhoof be an additional wincon in case of a counter on finale of devastation? The only human in the deck is spellseeker so the deck could really get all the doods on the field while getting a huge beat on opponents

Hey I love the content! Just got into cEDH after being a longtime Modern and Legacy player and these videos are fantastic for ideas. I've used the Estrid one to upgrade an old Karametra casual deck I had and I'm planning to build Kinnan. I have an old Narset deck as well with all the turns but I've heard she's not super competitive anymore.

I'm testing Kinnan in an elfball strategy. It's interesting, a little different, and it works quite well. With this stratgey I'm not sure it's good enough for cEDH, anyway.
